Location & Neighborhood

Cannaregio is where Venice gets real, you know? While tourists crowd around San Marco, this northern district gives you tree-lined canals, neighborhood bakeries, and that authentic Venetian rhythm. I mean, you’re still in the city center — don’t worry about being stuck in some remote corner — but you get to see how locals actually live. The Jewish Quarter is right here with its fascinating history, and the Fondamenta della Misericordia buzzes with aperitivo spots that locals frequent. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area; there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter canals without dodging cruise ship crowds every five minutes.

The furnishings strike that sweet spot between comfortable and characterful — nothing too fancy, but everything you need for a proper stay.

Getting Around

Here’s what I love about staying in Cannaregio — you’re genuinely well-positioned without paying San Marco prices. The Guglie vaporetto stop connects you easily to the main sights, but honestly, walking is often faster and infinitely more interesting. You can reach the Rialto Bridge in about ten minutes on foot, and St. Mark’s Square is maybe a twenty-minute stroll through some of Venice’s most photogenic neighborhoods. The area also connects nicely to the train station, which makes arrival and departure surprisingly straightforward (well, as straightforward as anything gets in Venice).

  We had an amazing time at the apartment! The location was unbeatable, allowing us to easily explore the area, and the apartment itself was spotless and beautifully maintained. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it feel like a home away from home. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic experience. The host was amazing and helpful!

  The neighbourhood was fantastic. It was close to so many of the big sites but also the quieter streets of Cannaregio. The rooftop views were beautiful

  Very well located in Venice. You can get anywhere with an 8 minute walk
  Close to many good restaurants and bakeries
  Appartment was spacious and clean with a lot of space for 6 people

  What could be improved: Air conditioner was not working well at all
  The outside temp Venice reached 33 degrees C and the appartment would not cool less than 29 degrees C
  We were not able to use the upstairs bedroom
  
  Water pressure was low, but this is expected in Italy

  The apartment was clean and very spacious. The location is perfect and right next to the boat taxi stop, there are some busy streets nearby but just around the corner there are some beautiful quiet squares. The venician terrace is outstanding. I loved the views, I could see the whole of Venice. The host was very accommodating and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Some very minor things, there wasn't a plastic chopping board to cut meat. The stove isn't particularly powerful. In Venice, you have to recycle, so separate bins with the correct size bin bags would have been very helpful.

  Great location, minutes away from the Train station and Bus stations. It was very quiet and only a couple of minutes walk to the Canal Grande and bars and restaurants. There’s a Spar nearby. The apartment is in a block on the 3rd floor (lift or stairs), we loved it, 2 fabulous bath/shower rooms and everything you’d need if you’re going to cook. Lovely soft towels, plenty of hot water.
  
  What could be improved: We struggled with opening the door. There’s a knack but the owners need to rectify.

  What could be improved: very hard to find … I asked three times for a location pin but failed to get it ..it took us 45 minutes to find the actual apartment even though we were close to it … once we got there we loaded a location pin onto our group WhatsApp and no issues from then on … I would suggest the owners send a location pin in future … also after booking the apartment I asked for the link to the apartment to look at the facilities but again failed to get it … and this is a multi apartment site ..but we enjoyed our stay ..

  The location is excellent if you travel by train or airplane. The area is quiet but when you walk outside for 5 minutes, you are already reach the area with many restaurants as well as the waterbus station. It's around 30 minutes walk to the main tourist attractions but Venice is a beautiful city so we didn't mind to walk. The apartment itself was superb! The contact person was very helpful and reliable.
  
  What could be improved: The washing machine didn't work when we stayed there. They didn't manage to fix it during our stay but the facilities to handwash our laundry were provided in the apartment.
