Hotel Description

I remember stepping off the vaporetto at the Accademia stop – you know, that big wooden bridge that connects Dorsoduro to the rest of Venice – and weaving through those narrow calli with my suitcase bumping along the uneven stones. Honestly, finding the Luxury Apartment in Venice at 3285 Sestiere Dorsoduro felt like stumbling into a hidden gem; it’s tucked away in this artsy, bohemian neighborhood that’s way less chaotic than San Marco, but still close enough to everything. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection – that funky modern art museum with all the Picassos and Pollocks – and if you wander a bit further, you hit the Zattere promenade along the Giudecca Canal, where locals grab gelato and watch the sunset. The building itself is one of those classic Venetian palazzos, with faded frescoes on the facade and these heavy wooden doors that creak just right when you push them open. No fancy lobby or concierge buzzing around, which I actually appreciated – it was more like checking into a friend’s upscale flat. The host met me with a quick espresso (strong and bitter, the way Italians do it) and handed over the keys without much fuss, though fair warning, there’s no elevator, so pack light if you’re on an upper floor. The place smells faintly of old wood and sea salt, especially in the mornings when the canal breeze sneaks in through the tall windows.

What really sold me on this spot – well, besides the fact that it’s rated a solid 8.8 and feels like a four-star steal – is how it nails that balance between luxury and real Venetian living. The apartment’s got these high ceilings with exposed beams, marble floors that are cool underfoot even in summer, and a kitchenette stocked with basics like olive oil and pasta (perfect for whipping up a quick carbonara after a long day of sightseeing). I stayed in a two-bedroom unit with views over a quiet rio – that’s a small canal, for the uninitiated – and let me tell you, waking up to the gentle lap of water against the walls and the distant chime of church bells from Santa Maria della Salute is pure magic. It’s not all postcard-perfect, though; during high season in July or August, you might hear the chatter of tour groups echoing down the alley in the afternoons, but it quiets down by evening when Dorsoduro turns into this peaceful enclave. And parking? Forget it – this is Venice, so leave the car in Mestre and embrace the boat life. The Wi-Fi’s reliable, beds are plush with those crisp white linens, and there’s even a little balcony where I sipped prosecco while watching gondolas glide by. Sort of makes you feel like you’re living the dream, not just visiting.

If you’re plotting a trip to Venice and want something authentic without the over-the-top hotel vibe, this luxury apartment is where it’s at. It’s ideal for couples or small families who crave space – think romantic dinners in instead of crowded trattorias – and honestly, staying in Dorsoduro gives you that insider edge, like popping into a bacaro for cicchetti on Rio San Trovaso without the San Marco crowds. Yeah, it might cost a bit more than a basic B&B, but for the serenity and those little touches (fresh flowers on arrival, anyone?), it’s worth every euro. Just time it for shoulder season, like May or October, when the city’s less sweltering and you can actually hear yourself think. Trust me, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve unlocked a secret side of La Serenissima.

  • Exceptional – Olga from Latvia – 22 September 2024 (10/10)

I never lived in such luxurious conditions in Venice before) two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen with dining area and beautiful living room. The host was very helpful, the location is excellent. Loved it!

  • Superb – Loreta from Ireland – 17 August 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is in a very good location. It is really beautiful and spacious and has a well equipped kitchen and a nice bathroom with a comfortable shower and a jacuzzi bath. The host was very easily contactable, pleasant and helpful.
    We really enjoyed our stay.

What could be improved: A toaster could have made our breakfast a little more enjoyable. Also, as we stayed for over a week, a washing machine/dryer would have been very helpful, too.
Overall, it is a very lovely place to stay and we highly recommend it to anyone.

  • Just exceptional and unique – Maria from United Kingdom – 8 June 2024 (10/10)

If you are lucky to find this luxury place in Venice available, do not look for anything else…
It will be a fantastic experience staying in a flat in a historical 14th century building, calm but interior designed with lots of attention to every detail. The flat besides the facilities and the so positive atmosphere is a top grade artistic hub with 19th century original pieces of artwork-spend time to capture the beauty of these paintings and sculpture-.
I particularly enjoyed taking a shower or jacuzzi together with a bottle of prosecco stored in bathroom's mini fridge…..
A really exceptional place to be….

What could be improved: I couldn't be able to stay longer but for sure I will come back soon….

  • Simply amazing – Andy69 from Poland – 3 April 2024 (10/10)

Amazing, gorgeous and fascinating. If you're reading this review then search no more just book it. I spent a week in Venice with my family and we couldn't have chosen a better apartment. Can you imagine living in an art gallery? Or a large, comfortable apartment, fully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay, filled with paintings and sculptures? The location is ideal: 3 min walk from the vaporetto (Grand Canal) which will take you to Piazza San Marco, train station or Ple Roma and 15-20 minute walk from any attraction in Venice (if you fancy walking and don't want to take the water tram), not to mention 2 worth seeing museums within a stone throw (Rezzonico and Academia). A supermarket is located 2 min walk from the apartment and a few restaurants, bars and a bakery are even closer. Gondola canal cruises are starting from the same square, less than a minute walk from the apartment. To top it all, the workshop and store of the famous supplier of masks for Kubrik's Eyes Wide Shut with Kidman and Cruise is located less than 50m away. Perfect contact with the landlord, the keys were in the wallbox so when we arrived late evening, we didn't have a problem getting in.

What could be improved: Just a few tiny things which didn't spoil the overall effect.

  • A very pleasant place to stay in Venice. – Eoghan from Belgium – 28 September 2023 (9/10)

A lovely, eclectic apartment in a great location in Venice. Close to shops, bars and restaurants and a 12 minute walk from the bus/railway station.
The apartment is very spacious and lavishly decorated with works or art throughout. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen facilities and living area were great. Good bathroom facilities. It was a nice place to relax before and after spending a day out in Venice.
The host was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful.

What could be improved: Google Maps directed us to a location which was a couple of hundred metres from the apartment so just be careful about that. However, the host was available on the phone to guide us to the correct location.
