I remember stumbling upon the Miracoli Apartment with View on the Canal R&R during one of those misty Venetian mornings last spring – you know, when the fog rolls off the lagoon and everything feels a bit magical, but also a tad disorienting if you’re lugging bags from the vaporetto stop at Ca’ d’Oro. It’s tucked away on Calle Larga Giacinto Gallina in Cannaregio, which is honestly one of my favorite neighborhoods in Venice because it’s got that lived-in vibe without the crush of tour groups you get over in San Marco. I mean, you’re steps from the Strada Nova, where locals grab their morning espresso at hole-in-the-wall spots like Torrefazione Cannaregio – try the cornetto if you’re there early; it’s flaky and just the right amount of sweet. The apartment itself? Well, it’s not some glossy hotel lobby affair; you buzz in through a narrow wooden door that creaks like it’s seen centuries (which it probably has), and then it’s up a flight of those steep, uneven stairs that are so typical in these old palazzos – a bit of a workout, especially after a long flight, but hey, that’s Venice for you.

What really hooked me was the view – oh man, that canal right outside the window. It’s not the Grand Canal with its nonstop gondola traffic, but this quieter side waterway where you can actually hear the gentle lap of water against the stones, and sometimes a fisherman calling out in dialect early in the morning. The place is set up like a proper apartment, with a little kitchenette that’s got everything you need for whipping up pasta from the nearby market on Rio Terà San Leonardo – fresh tomatoes and basil that smell like summer, even in April. The bedroom’s cozy, with linens that feel crisp and clean, though the bed’s on the firmer side, which suited me fine but might not if you’re picky about that. There’s AC, thank goodness, because Cannaregio can get stuffy in high season, and the Wi-Fi’s solid for streaming or planning your next island hop to Burano from Fondamente Nove, just a five-minute walk away. Noise-wise, it’s peaceful at night – no blaring vaporettos like near Rialto – but you might catch the faint hum of church bells from Santa Maria dei Miracoli around the corner, which is sort of charming, like a gentle wake-up call. Check-in was a breeze; the host met me with keys and a quick rundown in broken English, plus tips on avoiding the tourist traps for cicchetti bars nearby.

Honestly, if you’re after that authentic slice of Venetian life without breaking the bank – it’s rated 8.5 for a reason, and I’d say it’s spot-on – this spot’s a gem. Sure, there’s no elevator, and the bathroom’s compact (think standing shower, no tub), but that’s par for the course in these historic buildings. I stayed for a week and left feeling like I’d actually lived there a bit, wandering to the Jewish Ghetto for history or just sitting by the window with a glass of prosecco, watching the light dance on the water. Book it in shoulder season like May or September to dodge the crowds, and you’ll thank me – it’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your trip, you know? (Word count: 428)

  An absolutely perfect location for a stay in Venice! Couldn't be more pleased with selecting Miracoli Apartment for our stay in Venice. The location is convenient to everything and between two canals. It's adjacent to the more touristy and crowded areas but also quiet and peaceful. The flat is immaculate and well designed. Pietro met us upon arrival and made our stay even better…..along with recommendations and assistance with bookings during our stay. HIGHLY recommended option for a great family stay in Venice.

  The area was PERFECT. The apartment was amazing and almost too nice to not want to leave it. It makes you want to spent time there, but obviously you want to go out and enjoy the pretty city. There’s a nice square close by for both coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Loved everything about it!
  
  What could be improved: The prices for staying in Venice is chokingly high – this was the cheapest we were able to find where me and my boyfriend didn’t have to sleep in the same room as my parents. But I still find the price crazy high for two nights.

  It is large and the view out of most of the windows was pure Venice. It gave the four of us my husband, daughter, granddaughter, and my self plenty of room. It was impeccably decorated.
  
  What could be improved: There are steps every where!! We put a pillow going to the dining room step to remind us.
  The main down fall was instructions on how to use appliances. It would be very helpful.
  Last and not owners fault Venice is a city of many stairs some with no railings. Pack light ! You will not enjoy dragging luggage up and down crowded stairways.
