My room had this killer view of the canal – well, sort of a side angle, but close enough to hear the gentle lap of water against the pilings at night, which is way more soothing than the occasional gondola serenade (though those can get cheesy after a while). Oh, and parking? Forget it, this is Venice – but they hook you up with water taxi arrangements if you’re coming from Marco Polo airport.

Honestly, if you’re plotting a trip to Venice and want that authentic feel without skimping on comfort, the Monaco & Grand Canal is a solid pick.   At my request the hotel arranged a private pick up water taxi from the airport, this went exactly to plan, and exceeded our expecations, such a lovely start. Upon check in, we were given a free upgrade to a suite, a very generous touch.
  The hotels location is second to none, right in the heart of San marco sat on the edge of the Grand Canal. Yet the hotel still has a peaceful and quiet feel to it when inside. The hotel restuarant was excellent, great service and quality of food, and the setting right on the canal made it super special. Extremely friendly staff, the concierge to the waiters, all professional and welcoming. I would most definitely be reutrning to this hotel when visting Vence again. Thank you for making a weekend break so memorable.
