Oh man, stepping into Moretta Apartment after weaving through those narrow calli in Cannaregio felt like finally exhaling after a day of dodging tourists around Rialto. You know, Venice can be such a maze – I mean, I got turned around twice on Strada Nova, but once you spot the address at Cannaregio 5507, it’s like you’ve unlocked a little secret pocket of the city. It’s tucked away just enough to escape the San Marco crowds, but honestly, you’re only a 10-minute stroll from the bridge or the vaporetto stop at Ca’ d’Oro. I arrived in the late afternoon during shoulder season – early October, when the air’s got that crisp, salty tang from the canals without the summer humidity – and check-in was a breeze. The host met me right on time, handed over the keys with a quick rundown of the Wi-Fi (super reliable, by the way) and where to grab the best cicchetti nearby. No fancy lobby or anything – it’s an apartment setup, so it feels more like borrowing a local’s pad than staying in a hotel. The building’s got that classic Venetian charm, with worn stone steps leading up (mind you, no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing), and my place on the second floor had these tall windows overlooking a quiet courtyard – birds chirping in the morning, not a gondola serenade in sight.

What really won me over, though, was how lived-in and thoughtful the space felt. It’s rated 4 stars, and yeah, it earns that with the modern kitchenette – stocked with basics like coffee pods and olive oil, perfect for whipping up a simple pasta after a long day exploring. The bed was comfy, king-sized with crisp linens that smelled faintly of lavender (or maybe that was just the soap in the bathroom), and there’s air conditioning that actually works quietly, which is a godsend in July when Venice turns into a steam bath. I loved the little touches, like the bookshelf with Italian novels and a map of hidden spots in Cannaregio – think that tiny bacaro on Fondamenta della Misericordia for spritz and small plates, just a five-minute walk away. It’s not flawless; the Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the evenings when everyone logs on, and the neighborhood can get a low hum from delivery boats in the mornings, but that’s Venice for you – authentic, not sanitized. Evenings were peaceful, though, curling up with a glass of prosecco on the balcony, listening to distant church bells.

Look, if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re actually living in Venice rather than just passing through, Moretta’s a gem. It’s got that 9.1 rating for a reason – real value in a city where everything costs a fortune. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-peak when Cannaregio’s alleys are yours to wander without the selfie sticks. Just remember to grab groceries from the market near Campo Santi Apostoli; it makes the stay feel even more like home.

  Awesome location on the canal where you can watch and hear gondoliers go by. Super quiet at night, comfortable bed, very clean. Kitchen well-equiped. The hostess was nice to our small dog and did not surprise us with a last-minute fee. We would definitely stay again.
  
  What could be improved: You could sometimes hear neighbors upstairs, but not too loud and not too early or late in the day.

  Perfect location, excellent apartment in the heart of Venice. The host gave us all important information and helped to reach the place from the ferry station. It was situated close to the main city attractions, but slightly on the side, so it was calm and quiet during evenings and nights. Only 10 min walk from the ferry station, from where you can reach the other islands or airport. Very nicely looking rooms, well designed. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms (2 of them!) very clean. We loved it and will stay there again when visiting Venice next time. Highly recommended. Also – very good value for money.
  
  What could be improved: No standard coffee machine available, although there was a (gas) coffee maker – what was OK. The gondolas floating outside very often during a day – was an advantages for us and we liked it, although for someone who prefers calmness and quiet location it may be a problem.
  In the rooms – not enough storing space to leave clothes or luggage. A wardrobe or clothes shelf would be a good idea, or additional hanger.

  Very comfortable with every facility one requires. The most comfortable bed & pillows. Good location convenient but out of the way of the congestion of hub. Jess was so very helpful. Highly recommend.

  Very spacious and well equipped apartment. Really quiet in an excellent location, just 5 minutes walk from waterbus and 20 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco.
  Jess the hostess was very friendly and helped me with all needs: late check-in, luggage storage, tips on good restaurants and even an umbrella!

  Moretta Apartment was a good size for our family break for 1 week. Five of us found the space ideal in size, beside the waterway where gondola boats pass each day, next to great restaurants and places of interest. Not in a too busy area. It has all the facilities that we needed, such as air-conditioning (which worked well ), a washer machine, plenty of towels, iron and a good television (with many channels) and WiFi. We had no issues with the apartment, and we were very pleased with it for the time that we spent in Venice. Photographs below show the view from outside looking into the water, which was fabulous in the morning and evening times.
