Nobile House Overview
First Impressions
Walking down the narrow Calle Contarini in Dorsoduro, you might almost miss Nobile House if you’re not paying attention — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This four-star boutique hotel sits quietly in one of Venice‘s most authentic neighborhoods, away from the tourist chaos around San Marco. The entrance feels intimate, almost residential, which I actually loved because it gives you that sense of staying in a real Venetian home rather than just another hotel.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
You know what really sets this place apart? The location in Dorsoduro is absolutely brilliant for couples — and I can see why guests rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re walking distance from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the stunning Santa Maria della Salute, but more importantly, you’re in a neighborhood where actual Venetians live and work. I mean, there’s something magical about stepping out in the morning and grabbing coffee at a local bar where you hear more Italian than English. The area feels genuine in a way that’s increasingly rare in Venice.
Your Home Base
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character and modern comfort — think original terrazzo floors and period details, but with updated amenities that actually work. The bathrooms are well-designed (which matters more than you’d think in these historic buildings), and the beds are genuinely comfortable. What struck me most was how quiet everything felt, despite being in the heart of the city. The windows are well-insulated, so you get that peaceful Venice experience without the constant hum of tourist foot traffic.
Exploring from Here
From Nobile House, you’re perfectly positioned to explore Venice like a local. The Zattere waterfront is just a few minutes’ walk — perfect for evening strolls with views across to Giudecca island. You can easily walk to the Accademia Bridge or catch a vaporetto to anywhere else you want to go. But honestly, some of my best moments were just wandering the quiet campos and discovering tiny osterie that I never would have found if I’d stayed in the more touristy areas. The staff knows the neighborhood well and gave me some excellent recommendations for dinner spots that weren’t overrun with crowds.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this place that really resonates with travelers who want an authentic Venice experience. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it delivers exactly what you need — comfort, character, and that unbeatable Dorsoduro location. The fact that couples consistently rate it so highly tells you everything about the romantic atmosphere here. You’re close enough to all the major sights but far enough from the madness to actually enjoy your stay. Plus, the staff genuinely cares about making your Venice experience memorable, which goes a long way in a city where tourist fatigue is real.
Hotels in Venice perch on Grand Canal bends, quiet sestieri, and private lagoon islands.

Convenient from Piazzale Roma. Close to restaurants and cafes. Garden views. Charming and comfortable Venetian building. Great communication with hosts. Good orientation of the building when we arrived.
What could be improved: Pillows were a bit lumpy but that’s a minor thing.Selene from Singapore – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
The location is just less than 10 mins walk from the main train station , and also super convenient location to get around by walking to find food etc .

Amazing Giorgia let us drop our bags during the day. Property was nice and clean, very spacious! Easy walk to town, lots of bars, cafes and restaurants within 5mins. Also 2 shops less than 300m away. Highly recommend !! Looks amazing with lots of character – staircase is fantastic feature. Thank you!

The location was perfect! It was a short walk from the bus station, albeit the bridges and the stairs. The rooms were great and big, it was enough space for a family of 6.
What could be improved: There were a lot of stairs… one of my family members have trouble with her knees so it wasn’t pleasant for her to go up the spiral staircase. Fortunately we only had to climb up them every time we return from an outingMaree from Australia – 27 September 2023 (8/10)
The location is incredible. The house is full of charm. Giorgio was extremely helpful.
What could be improved: Everything was great so no complaints at all. If anything, an extra pillows would have been nice.Sandra from Australia – 6 July 2023 (9/10)
Magnificent historic building with plenty of space for a group, allowing views through its big windows of pretty gardens. It has plenty of quirky charm, with an attic room hidden through a wardrobe, medieval-like entrance with spiralled stairs, a staircase leading up to a mezzanine storage area in one bedroom, a funny second shower over a toilet room. It is located in a quiet pocket a minute’s walk to a canal and relaxed more-locals scene with cafes and shops and an abundance of quaint laneways. Yet it is not too far to walk to explore Venice’s big tourist drawcards. Host very friendly and attentive to needs. We were offered late check out if we needed it.
What could be improved: No complaintsAnna from United Kingdom – 27 September 2022 (9/10)
