Here’s what I love about this spot in Venice — you’re right in Castello, which feels way more authentic than staying near San Marco where it’s wall-to-wall tourists. Santa Maria Formosa square is literally around the corner, and you know what? That’s where locals actually hang out for their morning coffee. You can walk to the Doge’s Palace in about ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to those hidden bacari (wine bars) that most visitors never find. The couples who stay here seem to get it — there’s something romantic about being tucked away in this residential corner of the city.

The Space

Each room feels like you’re staying in someone’s elegant Venetian home rather than a standard hotel. The palazzo has been restored beautifully, keeping those original architectural details that make Venice so captivating. I was impressed by how they’ve managed to blend historical charm with modern comfort — the bathrooms are updated, the Wi-Fi actually works, and you’ve got air conditioning for those sticky summer nights. The furnishings have this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here have this lovely, unhurried feel. You’ll hear the city waking up gradually — church bells, the occasional water taxi, locals chatting as they head to work. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, so they’ll point you toward the best spots for cicchetti or tell you which vaporetto stop to use depending on where you’re headed. Actually, one of the best parts is coming back in the evening after a day of sightseeing — the palazzo feels like a peaceful retreat from all the crowds.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Venice, but it nails what most people actually want — authentic atmosphere, a great location that doesn’t feel touristy, and genuine hospitality. Couples especially seem drawn to the intimate scale and the fact that you can explore different parts of the city easily from here. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying in a real palazzo rather than some modern hotel that could be anywhere.   We could not recommend any higher. We had a few problems on our way, the host went out of their way to help us upon arrival. The locations could not have been better. Do not miss out on this apartment! PS. Book store across the street! Patisserie just feet away. 3 fantastic restaurants in the piazza 1 block away. Walk to Saint Marco.
