Palazzo San Luca Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Palazzo San Luca feels like stumbling upon one of Venice’s best-kept secrets — which, honestly, it sort of is. The entrance sits tucked away on a narrow San Marco street, and you know you’ve found something special when the doorway opens into this beautifully restored 17th-century palazzo. I mean, the lobby alone makes you pause for a moment, with its original Venetian terrazzo floors and that gorgeous staircase that winds up through the building. It’s got that authentic Venetian elegance without feeling stuffy or overly formal.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about staying in San Marco — you’re literally in the beating heart of Venice, and Palazzo San Luca puts you right where you want to be. St. Mark’s Square is maybe a three-minute walk away, but what I really love is how you can slip down these tiny side streets and find yourself at the Rialto Bridge or stumbling across hidden campos that most tourists never see. The couples who stay here absolutely rave about the location, and I get it — there’s something incredibly romantic about being able to wander back to your four-star hotel through Venice’s maze of bridges and canals after dinner.
The Rooms
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that’s honestly pretty hard to find in Venice. Each one feels different — some have those classic Venetian painted ceilings, others feature exposed wooden beams that remind you you’re sleeping in a piece of history. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for a historic building (anyone who’s stayed in Venice knows this is no small feat), and the beds are genuinely comfortable. What really gets me is the attention to detail — the fabrics, the lighting, even the way they’ve incorporated modern amenities without destroying the palazzo’s original character.
Daily Life at the Hotel
Breakfast happens in this lovely room that overlooks a quiet courtyard, which is actually a nice break from the bustling streets outside. The staff here really knows their stuff — they’ll point you toward the best bacari for cicchetti or help you figure out the vaporetto system without making you feel like a complete tourist. There’s no pool or spa (this is Venice, after all), but honestly, the city itself becomes your entertainment. The concierge service is particularly good at securing restaurant reservations, which can be a real lifesaver during peak season.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Palazzo San Luca is that rare combination of prime location and genuine Venetian atmosphere. You’re not staying in some generic hotel that could be anywhere — you’re sleeping in a piece of Venice’s history, right in the center of everything that matters. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you everything you need to know about how special this spot really is. It’s the kind of place where you can step out your door and be at St. Mark’s Basilica in minutes, but still feel like you’re experiencing the real Venice, not just the tourist version of it.

Anne from United States – 9 March 2025 (9/10)
The location was amazing. We were upgraded to the Signature apartment . The apartment was very spacious with beautiful views and a roof deck. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The communication was good. We were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco which was a nice touch. There are a lot of stairs but the views are worth it! We would definitely love to stay here again

Perfectly located, very clean, spacious duplex apartment with super friendly staff.
We were there with 3 children and had a wonderful day and night. Would love to stay there again.
They even kinda escorted us from airport to the apartment with different transportation alternatives.Joy from Australia – 18 December 2024 (9/10)
Friendly and responsive staff. Great location. Cozy rooms.
What could be improved: The kitchenware seems missing a few things such as pot lid, cutting board, etc. But this is not a big issue.Rob from Australia – 8 December 2024 (9/10)
Incredible stay and the staff were amazing! Loved every bit of our stay here and the location was perfect and close to authentic restaurants

-location is great. Close to the Rialto bridge but far away where you don’t hear a lot of noise/foot traffic.
-1 minute walk from the the Rialto stop.
-10 min walk from San Marcos plaza
-clean and bed is comfy.
-good WiFi- I had a exam and did a online class. Went smoothly.
-staff spoke English and were so helpful when we needed things. They are there from 8am-8pm.
-They also held our bags when we checked out.
– close to a grocery store. You can grab snacks and other items.
– plenty of toilet paper and towels .
What could be improved: – walls are thin. You can hear people coming in and out and moving about. or in our case. Sing at 2am 🤣
– no elevators. If you have heavy luggage and you’re on the top floor …be prepared for the workout of your life.
– depending on the rooms- they’re a little small and it was hard to place our phones or skincare near the bed.
-water pressure isn’t the best and takes a while to heat upFabian from Austria – 30 October 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location. Quite spacey. Great communication with (professional) host company.
What could be improved: It is on the top floor (4th) without lift.
