The apartment’s just a 10-minute walk to Mestre train station, so hopping over to Venice proper is a breeze; trains run every few minutes, and you’re in Piazzale Roma before you can finish your cappuccino. Honestly, it’s a smart base if you’re traveling with a group or kids – no lugging suitcases over bridges, and the noise level is surprisingly low at night, even with the street below (well, except maybe on weekends when the nearby pizzerias get lively). We cooked a few meals in that kitchen using stuff from the market on Via Piave, just a block away – fresh tomatoes, prosciutto, you get the idea – and it saved us a ton compared to eating out every night in Venice.   The location is very good, the bus stop to take the bus to Venice or to the airport was right outside the entrance, the property is huge and well maintained with all the amenities. The host turned up 5 to 10 minutes later but he was a really nice guy and guided us really well.
