Honestly, arriving felt like slipping into the real Venice, away from the San Marco crowds. The building’s got that classic Venetian charm—faded pinkish walls, wooden shutters that creak a bit when the wind picks up off the lagoon—but it’s not some crumbling relic. Check-in was a breeze; the host met me right on time, handed over the keys with a quick rundown in broken English (which I appreciated, since my Italian is rusty), and pointed out the nearest bakery for morning cornetti. No fancy lobby or anything—it’s more like staying in a friend’s well-kept flat, which suited me just fine after a day of travel.

What really sold me on Priuli, though, was how it feels lived-in yet polished, like a 4-star spot that’s actually thoughtful. The apartment’s spacious for Venice standards—high ceilings, a kitchenette with a proper espresso machine (thank goodness, because those canal-side cafes charge an arm and a leg), and a bedroom that overlooks a quiet courtyard where you can hear the faint lap of water against the stones at night. I mean, it’s not dead silent—there’s the occasional boat horn or church bells from nearby Santa Maria di Nazareth—but it’s a far cry from the racket in busier spots like Rialto. We cooked a simple pasta dinner one night using stuff from the market at Campo de l’Abazia, just a short walk away, and it felt authentic, you know? The bathroom’s modern, with those heated towel racks that are a godsend in cooler months (I was there in early fall, when the mist rolls in), but fair warning, the stairs up to the place are steep and narrow—typical Venice, but pack light if you’ve got mobility issues. Oh, and the Wi-Fi’s solid, which mattered for mapping out vaporetto routes to the islands. It’s rated a 9 for good reason; everything’s clean, the linens are soft and fresh-smelling, like they’ve just been aired out in the sea breeze.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that lets you live like a local without skimping on comfort, Priuli’s a winner—especially in shoulder season when Cannaregio’s streets are less jammed and you can snag a table at that hidden osteria on Fondamenta della Sensa without a wait. It’s not perfect; the location means you’re a vaporetto ride from the big sights, but that’s part of the charm, forcing you to explore underrated gems like the Jewish Ghetto or just wander the back canals. I’d go back in a heartbeat—well, maybe with better shoes for those cobblestones. If Venice is on your list, this place makes the magic feel personal, not just postcard-pretty.

  Good location – 5 to 7min walk from main train and water bus stations. It is located within a quiet and safe neighbourhood, few minutes to main street with shops and restaraunts.
  
  Apartment was clean and beds were comfortable. Host was friendly and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing much except a minor point – we had to dispose the rubbish at a collection point a short distance away from the apartment in the morning. We understand it is a law for the area.

  Easy to meet our host, and liked that our apartment was central but also tucked away down a street so much quieter than having to be around all the hustle and bustle of Venice. Plenty of space. We drove to Venice, so had to park in Tronchetto and walk a while with our suitcases, so definitely recommend taking the boat into the centre, but once we were in, the apartment was in a great spot for walking around and exploring. Would definitely stay here again!
