Hotel Description
You know, I first stumbled upon Residenza Ca Trinità while wandering through the back alleys of Castello – that quieter, more lived-in part of Venice where locals actually outnumber the tourists. It’s tucked away on a narrow calle off Campo della Trinità, just a short walk from the vaporetto stop at Celestia, which makes getting there from the train station a breeze if you’re lugging bags (pro tip: take line 5.1 and avoid the crowds on the Grand Canal). Honestly, arriving felt like stepping into one of those old Venetian novels – the building’s this elegant 18th-century palazzo with faded frescoes on the walls and these massive wooden doors that creak just right when you push them open. I mean, it’s not flashy like some spots near San Marco, but that’s the appeal; you’re in the real Venice here, where you can hear church bells from San Francesco della Vigna echoing in the morning and catch whiffs of fresh bread from the nearby bakery on Salizada San Francesco. Check-in was a delight – the host, this warm guy named Marco, handed me a map scribbled with his favorite hidden spots, like that tiny osteria around the corner where they serve the best cicchetti without the tourist markup.
What really sets this place apart, though, is how it balances that old-world charm with just enough modern comfort to make you feel at home. My room overlooked a little courtyard garden – nothing grand, but with climbing vines and the soft trickle of a fountain that drowned out any distant boat traffic noise (Venice can get surprisingly quiet in Castello after dark, especially off-season in November when the fog rolls in). The beds are plush, with those crisp linens that smell faintly of lavender, and there’s a small kitchenette if you want to whip up espresso from the market goodies – I grabbed some prosciutto and cheese from the Coop on Via Garibaldi, which is like a 10-minute stroll away. Well, it’s a 4-star spot, so no full spa or anything, but the Wi-Fi’s solid (streaming worked fine even during peak hours), and the bathrooms are spotless with rain showers that feel luxurious after a day dodging puddles during acqua alta. One minor gripe? The stairs are steep and no elevator – sort of a workout if you’re on the top floor, but hey, it adds to the authentic vibe, and they helped with my luggage without batting an eye. Oh, and if you’re into art, it’s ridiculously close to the Arsenale for the Biennale; I wandered over one afternoon and caught a exhibit that blew my mind, all without the San Marco hordes.
All in all, if you’re looking to escape the overpriced chaos of the main drags and actually live like a Venetian for a bit, Residenza Ca Trinità is a gem – that 9.6 rating isn’t hype. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want intimacy over glitz, and at that price point in Venice? Total steal. Just book ahead in summer; it fills up fast with repeat visitors like me. Lovely apartment near the boat stop. Overlooking a square
What could be improved: The second floorExceptional – Richard from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (10/10)
super traditional Venetian apartment. We loved that it was just outside the tourist area. it was so very quiet at all times of day and night. we could completely relax when back in the apartment. Luca was a super host, always on hand with advice and recommendations.
Exceptional – Adam from United Kingdom – 27 April 2025 (10/10)
Lovely quiet location, incredible host who was always available with information and advice about Venice.
Great location and property manager – Allison from United States – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
Great location – quiet area of locals but a short walk to the action. Close to water taxi stops. Best part was Luca who met us at the water taxi and escorted us back (the Venice lanes are a maze) and had a cold bottle of Proseco waiting for us! He also sent ahead detailed instructions for how to get from the train station to him, and also how to get to the airport when we left. That was a lifesaver!
What could be improved: Like most apartments in Europe, there are no elevators and it was a hike up two flights of narrow stairs with luggage. But this was expected. There are .mosquitoes in Venice, and leaving the windows open for air meant my granddaughter woke up with 10 bites (but not 3 others of us…?)Relaxing stay in lovely area and fantastic accommodation. – Sophia from United Kingdom – 17 February 2025 (10/10)
The area was lovely

Quiet residential area, easy to get to attractions and food. Great host
Charming family apartment – Anna from United States – 1 October 2024 (10/10)
Luca was an amazing host, he provided excellent instructions on how to reach the apartment and we loved that he shared his family apartment with us. It is a spacious apartment with a washing machine and is located in a quiet area of the city, yet it was just a short walk to all of the Venice tourist sites. The apartment was clean and Luca made sure we had espresso to start our morning.
What could be improved: It's important to note that this apartment is located on the second floor and there is no lift. It wasn't an issue for our group, but anyone with mobility issues should be aware.
A reminder that the main mode of transportation in Venice is foot or boat, the public boats are efficient and cost-effective, but it's about a 45-minute ride from Piazzale Roma or the airport. So be sure to factor that in when planning your arrival/departure.Nice old-fashioned Venice apartment! It had everything we needed for our 4-day stay. – Catherine from United States – 24 September 2024 (10/10)
The host Luca was very proactive in contacting me before our stay. He gave us instructions on how to arrive from the train station and met us at the vaporetto stop near the property to help us find our way.
Comfortable, quiet, spacious, very restful place amid a busy city. – Ursula from Switzerland – 1 September 2024 (10/10)
Spacious, well located, well appointed, quiet, more than comfortable. Responsive host.
What could be improved: nothing!
