Hotel Description

Nestled in the charming Dorsoduro district of Venice, Residenza Canal is a welcoming three-star hotel that offers an authentic Venetian experience away from the crowded tourist centers. With a solid rating of 7.7, this well-regarded establishment has earned its reputation as a reliable choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience in the magical floating city. Located at Dorsoduro 1617, the hotel enjoys a privileged position in one of Venice’s most artistic and genuine neighborhoods, providing guests with a perfect balance of accessibility and tranquility that can be hard to find in this popular destination.

The Dorsoduro district, where Residenza Canal is situated, is known for its artistic heritage and slightly more relaxed atmosphere compared to the bustling San Marco area. Just a short walk from the hotel, visitors can explore the prestigious Gallerie dell’Accademia, housing Venice’s most important collection of pre-19th century art, and the iconic Peggy Guggenheim Collection, showcasing masterpieces of modern art in a stunning palazzo on the Grand Canal. The area is also home to the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, whose distinctive dome forms an integral part of Venice’s skyline. With the famous Campo Santa Margherita nearby, guests at Residenza Canal can experience authentic Venetian daily life, with its lively cafés, restaurants, and small shops frequented by locals and students from the nearby university. The hotel’s strategic location also offers easy access to water transportation, with vaporetto stops connecting guests to other parts of Venice, including the renowned Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square, both just a short boat ride away.

Residenza Canal embodies the intimate charm that Venice is known for, offering a more personal experience than larger chain hotels. The good rating of 7.7 reflects guests’ satisfaction with the hotel’s attentive service and comfortable accommodations. Visitors particularly appreciate the hotel’s authentic character, which allows them to feel like temporary residents rather than tourists passing through. The three-star rating ensures a balance of quality amenities and reasonable pricing – an important consideration in a city known for its premium accommodation costs. The hotel serves as an ideal base for exploring Venice’s labyrinth of canals, bridges, and campos, with the added benefit of returning to a quieter neighborhood at the end of a day filled with sightseeing. From Residenza Canal, guests can easily venture out to discover hidden gems off the beaten path or take in the breathtaking views as they traverse the Grand Canal. Whether visiting for the renowned Venice Biennale, the spectacular Carnival celebrations, or simply to soak in the timeless beauty of this extraordinary city, Residenza Canal provides a comfortable and well-situated haven that enhances the Venetian experience without overwhelming the travel budget.

  • Varoojan from United States – 10 August 2024 (9/10)

location was good and comfort. overall good.

  • Barrie from United Kingdom – 18 May 2023 (8/10)

    clean

What could be improved: cold and corporate

  • Simon from Spain – 26 November 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is very clean, quiet and spacious. It’s located in a wonderful area.

  • Ieva from Lithuania – 7 October 2023 (9/10)

Location is perfect, close to the water bus stop, supermarket, cafes and main attractions. Very clear information on how to get into the apartment, I had to call someone, man helped me with extra questions. Apartment was clean, with needed equipment.

What could be improved: It was difficult to find a water bus stop from the bus station where we arrived from Treviso airport.
In the building there is an elevator, but for private use only, so we had to carry our suitcases to the second floor by stairs.
Bedrooms have few windows with a view to a very small and dark street, there is a window from the blocks in the living room, so there is very little light going through. At first we couldn't turn on the air conditioners, but I called the person who let us inside and he helped with it. There were moments when there was no hot water in the shower. There is no padlock lock in the bathroom. Before a check out we had to take trash out according to the trash boat schedule, but it was very close, so no big deal with it. And of course a lot, a lot of mosquitos everywhere…but I think they are everywhere in Venice.

  • Emilie from Canada – 12 November 2024 (8/10)

    Easy and clear

  • Athina from Australia – 21 September 2024 (8/10)

Great location and lovely neighborhood. It was easy to get to the ferry and lots of little restaurants and cafes and marts close by. The apartment was very clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. It’s all well organised and it was very easy to check-in on arrival. Would stay again and for longer!

What could be improved: The comms and documentation requirements were a bit laborious and tedious.

  • Cristian from Romania – 6 September 2023 (6/10)

The location is away from the city center, which is very crowded.

What could be improved: The host accepts only people over 35 years old. They consider that these people are disrespectful and make noise. Considering that they work in the field of hospitality, it is a problem to put tags without knowing the people.

The apartment is on the 1st floor and the street is quite busy, even at night. The people on the street will be heard quite loudly.

There are no mosquito nets, so there will be problems with mosquitoes, even if there have anti-insects solutions.

The water in the boiler runs out quickly, it is enough for 2 people, and the apartment is for 4 people.

The entrance door does not close tightly.

The living room is in the kitchen. Originally, the apartment had 1 bedroom, but the living room was transformed into a bedroom and the sofa was moved to the kitchen.

  • Stefan from Netherlands – 8 August 2023 (6/10)

Good location on 15 minutes walk from train station and San Marco square

What could be improved: The description says including airco but it is not there / not functioning. Very disappointing.

  • Danielle from Australia – 29 October 2024 (2/10)

It’s situated in a lovely precinct of Venice and easily accessible from ferry stop

What could be improved: Exhaustive information to provide ahead of check in when location information could not be shared prior therefore making us miss a booked tour.
Noisy, mould in bathroom, was not worth the $

  • Pradeep from Canada – 22 October 2024 (4/10)

Proximity to Venice attractions and communication with the property.

What could be improved: Old property with mosquitoes and minimal facilities. The walls even had dead mosquitoes on them. Though had ac, was clearly instructed not to change any settings.
