Residenza d’Epoca San Cassiano Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residenza d’Epoca San Cassiano feels like stumbling upon one of Venice’s best-kept secrets. This four-star gem sits right in the Santa Croce district, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re in what locals consider the sweet spot of Venice. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm without feeling like a tourist trap, which is harder to find than you’d think in this city.
The Perfect Venetian Location
What I love about this spot is how it strikes that perfect balance between being central and actually livable. You’re close enough to all the major sights but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that flood San Marco every morning. The Ca’ Favaretto area has this lovely residential feel — you’ll see actual Venetians going about their daily business, not just tourists taking selfies. Couples absolutely rave about wandering these quieter canals, and I can see why the location scores so high with them.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that classic Venetian elegance without being stuffy about it. You know what impressed me most? The attention to historical details — this is a residenza d’epoca after all, which means it’s in a building of historical significance. The windows actually open (not always a given in Venice), and if you’re lucky enough to get a canal view, well, you’ll understand why people fall in love with this city. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern enough without losing the old-world character.
Breakfast and Daily Rhythms
Breakfast here is a proper spread — both continental and buffet options, so you can fuel up however you prefer. I actually found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, partly because the breakfast area has this relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to plan your day slowly. The staff knows Venice inside and out, and they’re genuinely helpful with suggestions that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. They’ll point you toward the best bacari for cicchetti or tell you which bridges to cross for the most stunning sunset views.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Residenza d’Epoca San Cassiano — it gets Venice right in a way that many hotels don’t. You’re staying in a piece of the city’s history, but with modern comfort and service that actually works. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just flows smoothly, from check-in to daily recommendations. Venice can be overwhelming, but this place gives you a calm base to return to after days of exploring. Plus, being in Santa Croce means you can easily walk to the train station when it’s time to leave, which trust me, is a blessing when you’re dragging luggage through those narrow streets.

A beautiful hotel located on the main canal nestled in a quiet alleyway.
Wonderful architecture & history with views over the canal.
A good hearty breakfast for 10€ and within a few minutes walk of the Rialto bridge.Emyr from United Kingdom – 13 February 2025 (9/10)
Such an amazing place. The hotel is in a beautiful and central location. 15 to 20 minutes walk to most places including the train and bus station. The staff were fantastic and helpful. We were so lucky to get a room upgrade on arrival which made our holiday. Thank you so much.

Unbeatable value, the price of the rooms in this palazzo fluctuates along the year and this time my single room including buffet breakfast was 55 Euros per night.
Great location in a very old palazzo that faces the Grand Canal.
Elegant room decoration.
Very efficient room cleaning service, my blood-stained pillow cover was replaced by a clean one every single day.
Good room temperature, last year I complained about my room being cold and now it has not been the case.
Very efficient friendly reception staff members.
Wide choice of dishes for breakfast.
What could be improved: The mini bar was too small.Morten from Norway – 3 February 2024 (9/10)
Very nice interior, interior nice atmosphere. Great breakfast and great location.
