Residenza Garibaldi Overview

First Impressions

Walking down Calle Friziera in the Castello district, you’ll find Residenza Garibaldi tucked away in what honestly feels like one of Venice‘s best-kept secrets. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and that’s exactly what makes it work. The building has that authentic Venetian charm without the tourist trap feeling you get closer to San Marco. I mean, when couples are rating the location a 9.0, you know there’s something special about the neighborhood.

The Castello Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in Castello — you’re still very much in Venice, but you can actually breathe. The Residenza sits in an area that locals genuinely use, which means real bakeries, actual grocery shops, and that morning routine where you see the same faces heading to work. You’re a pleasant walk from the major sights, but when you come home in the evening, it feels like you’re escaping to a quieter corner of the city. The location score of 9.3 isn’t just marketing speak — this spot really does give you the best of both worlds.

Your Room and Space

The accommodations here are what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Each room feels like it belongs in the building rather than being shoehorned in, which is actually harder to find than you’d think in Venice. The furnishings lean traditional without being stuffy, and honestly, after a day of walking on stone streets, you’ll appreciate having a proper place to rest. The windows — well, this is Venice, so views vary, but even the courtyard-facing rooms have character.

Daily Life at the Residenza

What strikes me about Residenza Garibaldi is how it fits into the rhythm of Venetian life rather than fighting against it. Morning starts quietly here — no tour groups gathering in the lobby at dawn. You can slip out for coffee at the local bar (and I mean the Italian kind of bar, where locals grab their cappuccino standing up), then plan your day without feeling rushed. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good spots, not just the obvious ones.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but it gets the fundamentals right in a city where that’s not always guaranteed. The location puts you in real Venice while keeping you connected to everything you want to see. The 7.2 rating reflects exactly what this place is — solid, reliable, and genuinely pleasant without any pretense. You know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re spending most of your time exploring one of the world’s most remarkable cities. The fact that couples consistently love it here tells you something about the atmosphere — it’s relaxed enough to actually enjoy each other’s company.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Venice around Cannaregio for artisan glass studios and uncrowded canals.

Reviews of Residenza Garibaldi

  • Filippo from Italy – 16 February 2025 (9/10)

The perfect organisation, the availability and hospitality of the host, the transparency and the direct contact with the staff via wathsapp

  • Sophia from Germany – 29 May 2024 (8/10)

I enjoyed my stay a lot. The place is tiny but well equipped, so I had really everything I needed. The neighbour is friendly and quiet. The host is very nice. Visiting the Biennale this place was ideal for me and I would absolutely love to come again.

  • Evgenii from Russia – 26 April 2024 (8/10)

    Best location for visiting Biennale

What could be improved: Comfortable apartment

  • Antonia from Greece – 4 April 2024 (9/10)

Very welcoming and comfortable for one person. Perfect spot and near restaurants, cafes and shops. The welcoming basket was a big plus for the morning after my arrival! Close to the Giardini and easy access from the airport.

  • Nuno from Portugal – 27 October 2023 (7/10)

Central location, near to vaporetto and Aliluna (airport boat connection) lines and 10 min walk to San Marco, but away from all the major crowds.

  • Karla from Germany – 14 October 2023 (8/10)

Very friendly and welcoming host. The location is also very good with some restaurants and bars.

  • Antoine from United States – 8 October 2023 (8/10)

Cozy place and great location and met a lot of locals

What could be improved: Everything was great.

  • Izabela from Poland – 27 June 2023 (8/10)

Very good location of the apartment. It is small, but comfortable with all the amenities you need. We would visit again.

  • Cagil from Germany – 25 June 2023 (7/10)

    It’s location!

What could be improved: It smells damp but my friend who is living in Venice told me that it’s always the case especially in the ground floor.

  • Diana from Romania – 7 April 2023 (7/10)

The location is great, 12 minutes walk to St. Mark's Square, many restaurants near by. The room was clean. The staff was very nice, we received a list of recommandations and the self check in was very easy.

What could be improved: The bed was actually a bunk bed. It was very hard for 2 persons to sleep on the lower bed because the left half was higher and very hard. The bathroom door was actually a curtain, which is very uncomfortable when you share the room with somebody.
