Residenza Quaggio Ca’ Grimani Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow alleyways of Castello to find Residenza Quaggio Ca’ Grimani feels like discovering a secret that only locals know about. This three-star property sits tucked away on Ramo Grimani, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking carefully — which is exactly what makes it so charming. The entrance is understated in that quintessentially Venetian way, where the real magic happens once you step inside.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what’s refreshing? Finding a place in Venice that’s genuinely in the heart of everything but doesn’t feel like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The Castello district here is where real Venetians still live and work, so you’ll hear actual conversations in Italian echoing off the walls as you head out each morning. St. Mark’s Square is close enough that you can easily walk there, but far enough that you won’t be dealing with cruise ship crowds right outside your door. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.1 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of historic Venetian character and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. The beds here are genuinely comfortable — and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses, so that’s saying something. The space feels authentic with original architectural details, but they’ve clearly invested in quality linens and proper heating, which matters more than you’d think during Venice’s damp winter months. The windows open onto typical Venetian views of neighboring buildings and narrow canals, giving you that immersive feeling without the premium price tag.
Practical Considerations
Let’s be real about Venice logistics for a second — this city can be exhausting to navigate with luggage, but the Residenza Quaggio Ca’ Grimani is actually accessible without too much drama. The nearest vaporetto stop is walkable, and while you’ll still need to handle some bridges and steps (it’s Venice, after all), it’s not the nightmare journey that some places require. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, which becomes invaluable when you need directions or recommendations that go beyond the typical tourist spots.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel like a genuine Venetian experience rather than just another hotel stay. You’re staying in a real palazzo in a real neighborhood, but with the comfort level and service that makes your trip actually relaxing. The combination of that incredible location score and the consistently praised sleeping quality tells you everything you need to know — this is a place that gets the fundamentals right. For travelers who want to experience Venice like someone who actually lives here, rather than just passing through, it hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Residenza Quaggio Ca’ Grimani

Location and Nicola the owner is very nice with good communication. Highly recommended as you are staying at the heart of Venice. Walking distance to everything and everywhere. Since the room I booked had a problem with heater, Nicola upgraded me to another room with private bathroom. Thank you for welcoming me to your house and made my stay in Venice more memorable. Will stay here again if I come back to Venice.
What could be improved: Nothing all good and I am very satisfied.Zachary from United States – 15 September 2024 (7/10)
Great location, comfortable room.
What could be improved: It did feel overpriced after fee's and having to pay for an additional luggage storage. Probably could have got a different hotel that would have held our luggage for the price we ended up paying.Eleanor from United Kingdom – 6 September 2024 (8/10)
The apartment was in an excellent location and close to attractions. The room was a good size and very clean. The little terrace was very cosy and relaxing. Excellent value for money. The building was amazing.
What could be improved: Shower could have been a bit more powerful. The edge of the bed jutted out at the bottom and had to be avoided in passing.Ruth from Australia – 29 June 2024 (8/10)
Great location and comfortable to stay in.
What could be improved: Not great communication from administration- not very helpful.Wayne from Australia – 27 June 2024 (8/10)

-Localization was very good not far from famous attractions just walking distance and still quiet area.
-Quite easy acces to the room on self check in
-Easy access from Airport on boat walking distance (10min)
-At night quiet
What could be improved: Need some refresh with painting the ceiling
Ah also minus that we was asked to pay additional price for tourist tax 24€…that wasn't in price for room.Rachana from Belgium – 22 July 2023 (6/10)
Right in the centre of many water transport stops. Very accessible to various parts of Venice. Has many places to shop and buy souvenirs. Had many restaurants around the area at close proximity. A laundromat near the apartment was useful
What could be improved: There is no lift and apartment is in the 3rd floor. Stairs are old and worn out. We were given a room which did not have an attached bathroom. We had to leave the room to use the bathroom. The bedroom had no mirror. The furniture was worn out and old. Basic cutlery or plates were not available. There no washing machine as it said in the booking website. Incomplete Check-in instructions.Steven from Australia – 19 April 2023 (8/10)
good location and comfortable enough.
What could be improved: staff only dealt with us vaguely over txt messagesJustin from United Kingdom – 23 September 2022 (8/10)
great location nice terrace
Jessica from Germany – 19 June 2022 (8/10)
The patio and the location were wonderful.
What could be improved: I thought having a kitchen meant a stove so we could cook. There’s a microwave and a coffee machine. There is a mini fridge in the room. Also the bathroom is shared with the whole floor.
