Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Residenza Veneziana after weaving through those twisty alleys in Castello – you know, the neighborhood that’s got that real Venetian grit without all the San Marco chaos. It’s tucked away on a quiet stretch near the Arsenale, right off what feels like a secret corner of Calle de la Pegola (or was it Calle Larga San Lorenzo? Anyway, it’s super walkable from the Celestia vaporetto stop, which saved me from lugging my bag over too many bridges). Honestly, arriving felt like stepping into someone’s cozy home rather than a hotel – the owner, this warm Italian guy named Marco (I think), greeted me with a espresso and a chat about the best hidden gelato spot nearby. No fancy lobby, just a creaky wooden door that opens into a narrow hallway with these old exposed beams that smell faintly of aged wood and canal mist. It’s a 3-star spot, but with that 9.6 rating, you can tell it’s punching way above – probably because it’s in a restored palazzo from, like, the 1700s, full of those quirky details that make Venice feel alive.
What really won me over was how the place balances charm with practicality – my room had this massive window overlooking a tiny courtyard where locals hang laundry (yeah, it’s that authentic), and the bed was surprisingly comfy, with crisp linens that didn’t feel mass-produced. No elevator, mind you – it’s an old building, so if you’ve got heavy luggage, pack light or brace for the stairs, but hey, that’s Venice for you. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh croissants, yogurt, and cappuccino served in a little communal area that buzzes softly in the mornings – nothing over-the-top, but way better than grabbing something rushed at a tourist trap. I mean, you’re just a 10-minute stroll from the Biennale gardens, which are blissfully empty off-season (avoid summer if you hate crowds; that’s when the whole sestiere gets a bit noisy with day-trippers). Evenings were my favorite – the area quiets down early, so you hear church bells from San Pietro di Castello instead of bar chatter, and there’s this great little osteria around the corner on Via Garibaldi where I had the best cicchetti for pennies. Oh, and parking? Forget it – this is car-free Venice, but if you’re coming by train, it’s an easy water bus ride from Santa Lucia station.
All in all, if you’re after that under-the-radar Venice vibe – you know, dodging the selfie sticks while still being close enough to hit the big sights like St. Mark’s in under 20 minutes on foot – Residenza Veneziana is a gem. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the back rooms (blame the thick stone walls), and it’s more B&B intimate than luxury resort, but that’s what makes it feel genuine. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in shoulder season like April when the fog rolls in and everything’s sort of magical. Trust me, for travelers who want to live like a local without sacrificing comfort, this place nails it – book early, though, ’cause word’s getting out.

We had the Blue Room looking down into the Canel as the gondolas went by. There was a table just in the right place to have their delicious breakfast. Room was big with a King Soze bed. Shower was good. 2 mins walk from the Water Bus which we got at the train station.

Alessia and the staff were amazing. The room was spotless clean. The breakfast was delicious and delivered to our room. If you look for great location, this is the place. Although it is at a walking distance from the main attractions and from boat station, it’s located in a very quiet street. I highly recommend Residenza Veneziana. Will definitely come back. If I could give them more than 10 I would. Thank you guys, you made our stay very enjoyable.

Everything !!! Greatest location- very safe. Attention to details- among arriving was provided some nice welcome gifts with some champagne. Bathroom was clean and water was hot. Was provided excellent breakfast (on time) brought to the room – with a smile on her face. Internet was fast- bed and pillows very comfortable. Best of all- location was quiet yet walkable to many delicious restaurants and popular places to check out. Front desk was really helpful also-Luigi made us feel welcomed and showed us on the map where to go to see the different places. It was only a 2 night trip but honestly one of the best stays I’ve had ever (in my life) the last day we had to leave at 7 am to catch the train at 8- the host went out of her way to get me breakfast kept in the fridge so we can have it early morning before the ride. Thank you so much Alessia for showing you care- this will definitely be our go to if we can come to Venice to visit! I would give this 11/10 if I was able to. Must book !!!!

The hotel was the cleanest we've ever stayed in! All the staff were very friendly and communication before we arrived was extremely useful, we were even provided with a video of how to find the hotel. Breakfast brought to the room was a real treat. Would highly recommend this hotel.
