Rialto Design Boutique Apartment R&R Overview

First Impressions

When I first stumbled upon Rialto Design Boutique Apartment R&R, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place in Venice — but this little gem completely surprised me. Tucked away on Calle Del Tagiapiera in Cannaregio, it’s one of those finds that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm you can’t fake, and stepping inside, you immediately notice the thoughtful design touches that set it apart from your typical tourist accommodation.

The Cannaregio Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re actually living like a Venetian rather than being stuck in the tourist bubble around San Marco. Cannaregio is where real people shop for groceries, grab their morning coffee, and go about their daily lives. You can walk to the Rialto Market in about ten minutes (hence the name, I suppose), but you’re also close enough to those hidden bacari that locals frequent. The Jewish Quarter is practically on your doorstep, and honestly, some of the best restaurants in Venice are within a five-minute walk. Plus, couples seem to really get this area — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter canals without fighting through crowds of day-trippers.

The Space Itself

The apartment feels more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Each unit has its own personality, but they all share this modern aesthetic that somehow works perfectly with the old Venetian bones of the building. The kitchen is actually functional — not just a mini-fridge and hotplate situation — which means you can grab fresh ingredients from the nearby markets and cook something simple. I mean, eating out every meal in Venice gets expensive fast, so having this option is genuinely useful.

Practical Perks

What really impressed me was how they’ve thought through the little things that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. The Wi-Fi actually works well (not always a given in these old buildings), and they’ve managed to fit in proper storage space without making the rooms feel cramped. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for Venice standards, and the water pressure is decent — again, not something you should take for granted in this city. You know what’s also nice? The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you have a good experience rather than just checking you in and disappearing.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests keep raving about the location, and I totally get why. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the madness to actually relax and enjoy Venice at a human pace. The design elements make it feel special without being pretentious, and the apartment-style setup gives you flexibility that regular hotels just can’t match. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own little Venetian hideaway where you can start your day with coffee on a quiet canal rather than fighting for space at a hotel breakfast buffet. It’s that sweet spot between authentic local experience and comfortable modern amenities.

Reviews of Rialto Design Boutique Apartment R&R

  • Katherine from United Kingdom – 30 August 2024 (9/10)

Linda was excellent at communicating with us to enable easy check-in. Super knowledgeable with fantastic suggestions on where to eat. The location was great and was super quiet.

What could be improved: The air con didn't work in 1 bedroom and wasn't very efficient in the living room.

  • Arkadiy from Netherlands – 26 June 2024 (7/10)

The location is perfect, easy to access to main attractions, supermarket and cafes. Also the interior design is attractive and nice. The apartment itself is clean and neat.

What could be improved: Late checkout is 30 EUR, although we were notified about that, yet still quite a bummer. Wifi is poor in some rooms, how water wasn't on due to boiler issues. Also the dishwasher broke during our stay, so the water went on the floor.

  • Charles from United States – 7 June 2024 (9/10)

    Beautiful vintage decor.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Cynthia from United States – 4 June 2024 (7/10)

    Location

  • Dina from United States – 6 April 2024 (7/10)

Location was on a quiet little street, so very quiet at night. Just a few steps to get groceries. Close to boat to Murano, and we walked to all the Venice attractions.

  • Oana from United States – 5 April 2024 (9/10)

The apartment is as pictured! Very clean and spacious for my family of 5. Would highly recommend.

  • Jan from Poland – 17 January 2024 (9/10)

    + excellent, safe localisation
    + spacefull apartment
+ nice experience of living in an old district & building
    + well equiped
    + helpful and kind host

What could be improved: – dishwasher was super dirty
    – cleaning could have been more efficient
    – acoustic is significant

  • Amelia from United States – 15 November 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is roomy and comfortable. The location is in easy walking distance to major tourist attractions. We enjoyed several restaurants nearby. It is close to the water taxi to Murano and the Alilaguna service to the airport.

What could be improved: Rooms are large and couldn't have fit perhaps another pull out sofa in the main room for an extra sleeping option for a family with 3 older kids. Floor did not feel very clean based on our socks after walking around the apartment.

  • Viktor from Poland – 19 August 2023 (9/10)

Good location, comfortable apartments, absolutely enough space for big families with kids. Air conditioners in rooms are a big plus in August.

What could be improved: The fridge works, but the main section was really not cold enough to keep water and others in good condition.

  • Jasmin from United States – 8 December 2022 (9/10)

I liked the decore, the location, it was a nice stay and great for my entire family!

What could be improved: The sofa beds were not comfortable but when are those ever comfortable and the water pressure sucked but it’s a gorgeous old building with so much character, can’t expect that.
