But once I buzzed in (check-in was a breeze, actually, with a friendly host who handed over keys and a quick map scribbled with insider spots), it was like stepping into a cozy slice of Venetian life. The place is in one of those classic palazzos, you know, with exposed wooden beams that creak just a bit underfoot, adding that authentic charm without feeling gimmicky.

What really sold me was how it balanced the old-world feel with modern perks – it’s a deluxe apartment, after all, so think spacious living area with a full kitchen where I whipped up pasta from market-fresh tomatoes (pro tip: hit the stalls early, before the crowds turn it into a zoo around 9 a.m.). The bedroom overlooked a quiet canal – not the Grand one, mind you, but a smaller rio where you hear the occasional gondolier’s hum in the evening, mixed with the distant clatter of plates from nearby osterias. I mean, it’s rated 8.9 for a reason; the Wi-Fi was solid for streaming, the bathroom had those heated towel racks that feel like a hug after a damp day exploring, and the air conditioning hummed quietly enough not to drown out the city’s ambient sounds. San Polo’s vibe is perfect here – you’re steps from spots like Campo San Polo for a gelato break or that hidden bacaro on Calle della Madonnetta where locals sip spritzes without the markup. Oh, and if you’re there in summer, the market smells hit you first thing: ripe peaches and salty sea air, though it can get a tad noisy with vendors shouting by dawn. A minor gripe? The apartment’s on the upper floor, so light sleepers might catch faint echoes from late-night revelers below – nothing earplugs can’t fix, but fair warning.

All in all, if you’re after a 4-star stay that feels more like crashing at a stylish friend’s place than a sterile hotel, this is it. You get that immersion in Venice’s rhythm – wandering out for morning coffee at a no-name bar on the corner, or nipping back for a siesta when the midday heat hits. It’s not the cheapest, sure, but for the location, where you can actually live like a local amid the history, it’s worth every euro.   We had a wonderful stay in the aparment with my family. The flat was very clean, and the location couldn’t have been better. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly the whole time. Daniel was always available when we needed anything and even let me know about some updates in Venice ahead of time. In our case, there was a strike, so thanks to his heads-up, we were able to plan our travel without any issues. Thanks a lot, Daniel!

  The host Filippo was responsive, friendly and helpful. The place had character and enough room for our family of five. Location was great, close to vaporetto and Rialto bridge.

  It was quite easy following the directions from the train station to the apartment by water taxi

  What could be improved: Upon arrival I found it slightly difficult to find the correct apartment as they were all lined up. The photos sent were clear however it was a momentary slip up, more on me most likely overall though it was seemless and easy once located the correct box to collect the keys nothing to worry about. The host was very helpful but also very direct which took a little to get used to but I think that’s more a personality thing rather than anything to be worried about overall my stay was exceptional I have no issues recommending the apartment

  Short walk from Vaporetto stop. Close to many restaurants and bars, but in a quiet alley. The two aircon units were more than powerful enough to cool down the whole apartment. Also, it's a short walk to the fish markets, if you like to prepare your own fresh seafood.
