Rialto Sant’Aponal Prestige by Wonderful Italy Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow calle toward Rialto Sant’Aponal Prestige by Wonderful Italy, you’ll notice how the typical Venice tourist chaos starts to fade away. I mean, you’re still in the heart of Venice, but this particular corner of San Polo feels — well, it feels like you’ve discovered something the crowds haven’t quite figured out yet. The building itself has that understated Venetian elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which honestly makes it even more appealing.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Rialto Bridge, but you’re tucked away on a side street that most tourists rush past. The Sant’Aponal area has this authentic neighborhood vibe where you’ll see locals doing their actual shopping, not just souvenir hunting. There’s a reason couples rate this location a perfect 10 — you can slip away from the madness whenever you need to, but jump right back into the action when you want it. The four-star property sits in what’s genuinely considered the top-rated area in Venice, and after spending time here, I totally get why.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had those high ceilings that make you feel like you’re living in a palazzo (which, let’s be honest, you sort of are). What struck me most was how they’ve managed to blend modern comfort with Venetian character — you know what I mean, where the air conditioning actually works but you still feel like you’re sleeping in historic Venice. The windows open onto the calle below, and there’s something magical about hearing the echo of footsteps on stone while you’re getting ready for dinner.

Daily Life at the Hotel

The staff here actually knows the neighborhood — not just the tourist highlights, but where to grab the best cicchetti or which campo has the quietest morning coffee spot. They’re part of the Wonderful Italy group, so there’s a level of professionalism you can count on, but it doesn’t feel corporate or stuffy. I found myself asking for recommendations constantly, and they never steered me wrong. The building stays refreshingly quiet even when the streets outside get busy, which is honestly a small miracle in this part of Venice.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Venice can be overwhelming — the crowds, the maze of streets, the constant decision fatigue of where to eat or what to see next. This place gives you a genuine home base where you can regroup and feel like a temporary Venetian rather than just another tourist. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just about proximity to attractions (though that’s definitely a bonus) — it’s about being positioned in a way that lets you experience Venice at your own pace. You’ll find yourself coming back between morning sightseeing and evening wandering, which is exactly how Venice should be experienced.

Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Venice before acqua alta alerts to snag suites with private fondaco docks.

Reviews of Rialto Sant’Aponal Prestige by Wonderful Italy

  • Derek from United States – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

Great location and value. Beds were comfortable. Liked this as it has 2 bedroms where competing properties were going to put the third on a pull out sofa. Quick communication and repair to a broken light.

What could be improved: Would be nice to have a few items like coffee but not a big deal. The trash situation was unique. I didnt full understand what I was supposed to do with it and since I had so little, I took it with me. The heater unit in the LR seemed to ignore the thermostat. We had set it to 21C and when we came back it was like a sauna. But easy to just turn it off.

  • Jennifer from Australia – 18 January 2025 (9/10)

Location excellent, spacious and well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Very quiet, beds both comfortable. Nicely decorated apartment- perfect really!

What could be improved: Not a problem but people with limited mobility may find two floors with no lift difficult.

  • Tracey from Australia – 19 November 2024 (9/10)

Communication through the booking.com website was easy and response was quick. I asked many questions before arrival and all were answered in a timely manner. Room was very spacious and clean.

  • Mary from United States – 9 November 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The location in Venice was great, close to the Rialto Bridge. Communication with the booking agency was very good.

  • Amelia from Australia – 4 November 2024 (8/10)

We loved our stay at the Railto Sant'Aponal apartment. The apartment is located a quieter part of the city however is a short walk to all the major attractions. The apartment overlooks a quaint square with two great eateries at your doorstep and even more options for great coffee, local pastries and bistro style food options in the adjoining laneways. The apartment is spacious and modern with excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities and a washing machine located in the apartment (which was great when travelling with kids). Windows are double glazed which is handy at night as the laneways around the apartment can be lively at night. Excellent communication with the host via WhatsApp.

What could be improved: It would be nice to have some tea/coffee provisions on arrival and more cleaning products (especially if you are staying for a longer time as we were). I'm not sure there is much that can be done about the occasional smell in the bathroom too.

  • Chichester from New Zealand – 1 October 2024 (8/10)

Very roomy apartment with two bedrooms and separate lounge/kitchen area. Modern interior nicely decorated. Separate washing machine and clothes hanger. Air conditioning in every room. It is in a small piazza which means you have more light and sense of space albeit it can make it slightly noisier.

What could be improved: There was a smell that permeated from the bathroom shower for the last few days. I was advised this can happen in the period of rain and low pressure (albeit there was only one day that had a few rain showers). Also there was no washing powder provided. All other places we stayed at provided this. It is hard when you are going around Italy to carry washing powder and we had to buy a box. Also one dishwasher tablet for a four day stay is not great.

  • Maria from Chile – 17 August 2024 (9/10)

I liked everything, nice, illuminated, and it couldn't be cleaner, really impeccable. All the facilities were like new. I really loved it and would repeat it a thousand times.

What could be improved: I liked everything, but it is important to know that it is on the second floor and there is no elevator, for people with less mobility or baby strollers.

  • Norma from United States – 27 June 2024 (9/10)

We loved the apartment. It was very clean, spacious, beautiful, everything worked like a charm & having the two separate rooms was ideal for us. The location was perfect! The staff kept in touch & that was nice.
    We loved Venice! 😊❤️

  • Bruce from United States – 20 June 2024 (8/10)

    Great place! And it worked!
    Loved the space .
Would like to see instructions in English for the washer and dryer.
Few other items would have been helpful
    Salt pepper
    Few more large bath towels.
    Thanks would recommend

  • Jane from United States – 12 June 2024 (9/10)

We liked everything! It was located in a wonderful old square near the shopping district and the public water taxi. We got to know the restaurant in the square and felt included. The apartment is superb. It was very new, quiet, and clean–recently rehabbed. Nice bathroom. Very roomy. And all around excellent stay.

What could be improved: Not really. But it is not for people with disabilities—two flights of stairs.
