Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Ricco di Comfort – yeah, that’s the full name, which basically translates to “rich in comfort, large, bright, and comfy” in Italian, and honestly, it lives up to that – during one of those hazy Venetian mornings when the fog’s just lifting off the canals. I’d taken the vaporetto from Santa Lucia station, hopping off at the Ca’ Rezzonico stop in Dorsoduro, and it was a quick wander down Fondamenta Zattere, past those little cafes where locals grab their espresso standing up. The hotel’s tucked right in that quieter sestiere, away from the San Marco crowds, but close enough to the Accademia Bridge that you can pop over to the galleries or the Peggy Guggenheim in like ten minutes on foot. First thing that hit me was how unassuming the entrance is – no flashy signs, just this solid wooden door that creaks open into a lobby smelling faintly of polished oak and fresh coffee. Check-in was a breeze; the staff, this mix of chatty Venetians and a few internationals, sorted me out in no time, even though I showed up early after a red-eye flight. They handed over a map with handwritten notes on avoiding the tourist traps – you know, like steering clear of the overpriced gondola rides near Rialto and hitting the cicchetti bars in Campo Santa Margherita instead.
What really sold me on the place, though, was the rooms – mine was on the second floor (no elevator, mind you, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing), but once you’re up there, it’s all worth it. Spacious as promised, with these tall windows letting in that golden lagoon light, and the bed? Oh man, it was like sinking into a cloud after trudging around Venice’s uneven pavements all day. The decor’s got that classic Venetian vibe – think exposed beams, a bit of faded fresco on the walls – but with modern touches like a rainfall shower that actually has decent pressure, which isn’t always a given in these old buildings. Breakfast downstairs is solid, nothing extravagant, but the croissants are flaky and fresh, and they do a mean cappuccino while you’re overlooking the canal – quiet in the mornings, except for the occasional boat horn. I mean, it’s not dead silent at night; you might hear some chatter from the nearby osterias until around 11, but it’s that authentic neighborhood hum, not the rowdy bachelor-party noise you’d get closer to Piazza San Marco. And during high season, like Carnevale time, book early because Dorsoduro fills up with art lovers, but it’s way less hectic than the main drags.
Look, if you’re after a spot that feels like a real slice of Venice without the gimmicks, this 4-star gem with its 8.5 rating is a smart pick – I’ve stayed in pricier places that felt stuffier. It’s comfy for couples or solo travelers who want space to unwind, and the location means you’re steps from hidden gems like the Squero di San Trovaso, where they still build gondolas by hand. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the back rooms (ask for one facing the water if that’s a dealbreaker), but overall, it left me wanting to linger longer. Next time I’m in town, that’s where I’ll head – beats the soulless chains any day.

A nice place for your Venice visit – Tammy from United States – 6 October 2024 (10/10)
Lovely apartment in Dorsoduro! Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of all that the island offers. Clean, light and bright interior. Modern appliances and spacious master bedroom and bath. Espresso each morning was a nice touch. Convenient self check in. Perfect for a family, couple, or small group.
What could be improved: Main living room/kitchen is a bit small, we would have preferred comfortable chairs or a small sofa there. Also would like to meet the host in person. Neighborhood did not seem friendly to tourists. It was lovely staying here. – Kamran from United States – 2 July 2024 (9/10)
It is a clean and spacious apartment for a family stay and there were good food places at walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay here with all the amenities available.
What could be improved: To locate the apartment first time was tricky as it was difficult to map it with a GPS. Due to boats based access in Venice and for walking based access, there were stairs in between so we had to hire a porter to transport luggage. It is ok for less luggage provided first time access directions are clear for walking. For boat based access, walking from Santa Marta or San Basilica directions should be clearly specified.Exceptional – Ganimete from Kosovo – 5 April 2024 (10/10)
Amazing appliances, super clean, great location. The host was amazing and very helpful. Everythung was thougtful!
Exceptional – Furtula from Serbia – 8 November 2023 (10/10)
Lot of rooms, lot of light. All clean, a lot of equipment.
We enjoyed our stay in our visit in Venice – Esteras from United States – 24 October 2023 (7/10)
We like that the property was outside of the real tourist area. It was quiet and very quaint. We did have a bit of a hard time finding the location but once we realized we needed to go down another street to go around we were able to find it OK.
What could be improved: We didn’t like that we had to carry all of our luggage upstairs.Exceptional – Ciprian from Romania – 29 March 2023 (10/10)
A lot of space and modern design.
we would absolutely come back – Sarah from Switzerland – 25 May 2025 (8/10)
Host was very helpful and responded promptly to requests. Let us enter the apartment a bit sooner than planned and let us leave a bit later. the location was amazing: not in the middle of tourism, but still central (and even had a grocery shop nearby).
What could be improved: It was a bit chilly in the apartment and the beds were mediocre.Quiet area of Venice – Elisa from Netherlands – 8 May 2024 (8/10)
Nice quiet area. Close to many good places for food and drinks. Spacious apartment with 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms – perfect size traveling with teens. Price okayish. Kitchen ok, and enough equipment there and in the bathrooms. Good internet.
The check in procedure asked for way too many personal irrelevant details. The host helped waiving some of the non mandatory points.
What could be improved: There was mold in the corner near the bed in the bigger room.
Hot water was not really working, we had to shower cold mostly.
The double bed in the bigger room was not stable and very noisy. The mattress was quite thin.
The people in the apartment in front of ours left thrash bags in front of our door for 3 days over the weekend.Authentic Charm – Jorge from United States – 7 April 2024 (9/10)
The accommodations were not only spacious but also incredibly convenient, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Nestled within a serene neighborhood teeming with local charm, we relished the authentic Venetian atmosphere, far removed from the hustle and bustle of tourist hotspots. The icing on the cake was undoubtedly the exceptional value offered by this hidden apartment, making it a standout choice for any family seeking a unique experience in Venice.
What could be improved: While our stay had its highlights, there were a couple of aspects that didn't quite meet our expectations. Firstly, the water heater proved to be somewhat inconsistent, fluctuating between extremes of either scalding hot or chillingly cold water. This inconsistency made it challenging to enjoy a comfortable shower experience. Additionally, despite our party consisting of four individuals, we found that the provision of shower towels fell short, with only enough towels provided for two to three people.Very good – Melvin from United States – 23 August 2024 (8/10)
The location is quiet
What could be improved: Its a farther from main district but its OK.
