Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon San Isepo Corte during one of those hazy Venetian afternoons last spring – you know, when the canals are still a bit misty in the morning and the tourists haven’t fully swarmed yet. I’d hopped off the vaporetto at Arsenale, dodging the usual throng heading to San Marco, and wandered into the Castello district, which honestly feels like the real Venice, away from the postcard crowds. The hotel’s tucked into this quiet corte – that’s like a little courtyard, if you’re not familiar – right off a narrow calle that leads straight to Via Garibaldi, where locals grab their morning espresso and fresh produce from those no-frills markets. No cars here, obviously, since it’s Venice, but if you’re lugging bags, it’s a short, flat walk from the stop; just watch for the uneven pavestones that can trip you up after a long flight. The facade is this charming old palazzo style, with faded terracotta walls and those classic arched windows – nothing flashy, but it sort of whispers history without trying too hard.
Stepping inside, well, it’s cozy in that authentic way – think exposed wooden beams overhead and the faint, salty scent of the lagoon drifting in from nearby. Check-in was a breeze; the staff – mostly Venetians, I think – were chatty but efficient, offering tips on avoiding the high-season lines at the Biennale gardens just a five-minute stroll away (pro tip: go early in May before the art crowds hit). My room was on the second floor – no elevator, mind you, which is par for the course in these historic spots, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing. It overlooked the corte, with these plush beds that actually felt like a hug after traipsing around all day, and the bathroom had that modern rainfall shower that contrasts nicely with the antique tiles. Breakfast was solid – fresh cornetti, local cheeses, and coffee strong enough to wake the dead – served in a sunny atrium where you can hear distant church bells from San Pietro di Castello chiming. It’s not perfect; the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, and rooms are on the snug side, like most in Venice, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. I mean, you’re not here for sprawling suites; you’re here to feel immersed.
What really sold me on San Isepo Corte, though – and why I’d tell anyone to book it – is how it balances that four-star polish with genuine neighborhood vibes. You’re close enough to hop over to the Arsenale for a quiet walk or grab cicchetti at those hole-in-the-wall spots on Fondamenta Sant’Anna, but far from the San Marco noise that keeps you up at night. Rating-wise, that 8.4 feels spot-on; it’s not trying to be a luxury behemoth, but it delivers on comfort and that elusive Venetian soul. If you’re visiting in quieter months like October, it’s even better – fewer people, and the hotel’s courtyard becomes this peaceful oasis with the leaves turning. Just remember, Venice floods sometimes (aqua alta, they call it), so check the forecasts and maybe splurge on those rubber boots from the shop nearby. All in all, it’s the kind of place that makes you linger a bit longer, sipping spritz in the evening light, feeling like you’ve uncovered a secret corner of the city.

Spacious and beautifully decorated apartment – Ju from United Kingdom – 24 June 2024 (9/10)
Very easy communication with the host. Spacious and beautifully decorated. No step access. Nice and cool in the summer as it is ground floor!
1 double bedroom, and 1 room with 2 single beds. 2 bathrooms – very convenient if sharing!
What could be improved: Please include a screenshot of what is the easiest way to get to the apartment from the vaporetto as Google Maps made us make a big detour.Good – Eglė from Lithuania – 11 September 2023 (7/10)

This is the perfect place for me to visit in Venice due to my interest in the Biennales. – Coleman from United States – 28 May 2025 (10/10)
The location was perfect and the community around the apartment was friendly with local residence.
What could be improved: It was perfect.Disappointing service from the manager. – Frances from United Kingdom – 27 October 2024 (4/10)
Good location near Biennale
What could be improved: Only one towel each initially given for a seven night stay. A few days later we were given a hand towel each.
WiFi wasn’t working for the whole stay., which meant there was also no Tv. The shower in the small bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. The small patio looked unloved with a very grubby small canopy.Ideal für Biennale Besucher, die eine individuell eingerichtete Wohnung bevorzugen. – Susanne from Germany – 4 November 2024 (8/10)
Lieu avec du cachet – Cataldo from Switzerland – 13 October 2024 (9/10)
Localisation idéale pour la biennale

Zeer ruim huis. Mooie grote woonkamer. Sfeervol. Volledig ingerichte keuken. Leuke binnenplaats om te zitten. Prima locatie. Dicht bij centrum maar niet in de drukte.
What could be improved: Dat is toch nog moest bellen voor handdoeken/beddengoed . Ik had er een paar dagen van tevoren nog naar gevraagd.Superb – Peter from Germany – 6 November 2023 (9/10)
Schön,sauber,unkompliziert, geräumig, ruhig.

What could be improved: Der "Garten " ist doch etwas dunkel undl das Tor zum Kanal vergittert.Superb – Briandet from France – 30 September 2022 (9/10)

Accueil facile et chaleureux
A recommander +++Dejligt – Kristian from Denmark – 17 July 2022 (9/10)
