Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon the San Pietro Cozy Studio R&R last fall when I was craving a quieter slice of Venice – away from the San Marco circus, I mean. Tucked into this tiny Corte Zurlin alley in the Castello district, it’s one of those spots you might miss if you’re not paying attention, just a stone’s throw from the old San Pietro di Castello church with its leaning bell tower that locals joke about. I remember dragging my suitcase over the uneven cobblestones from the vaporetto stop at Arsenale – it’s about a 10-minute walk, honestly not bad unless you’ve got heavy bags, and forget parking; this is Venice, so you’re better off arriving by water taxi if you can swing it. The address is 337/B, and yeah, it’s a bit hidden behind a weathered wooden door that creaks like it’s straight out of a storybook. My first impression? Relief. After dodging tour groups all day, stepping inside felt like exhaling – the air smelled faintly of old stone and fresh laundry, with that subtle salty tang from the nearby lagoon seeping in through the windows. It’s a studio setup, so compact but clever, with a kitchenette that actually works (I whipped up some pasta with market finds from Via Garibaldi, which is just around the corner – grab some prosciutto there, it’s way cheaper than the tourist traps).

What really hooked me was how it nails that “cozy” vibe without feeling cramped – think exposed brick walls that are cool to the touch, a plush bed that swallows you up after a day of wandering, and these little touches like fresh herbs on the windowsill that make it feel lived-in, not sterile. I stayed during shoulder season in October, when the neighborhood quiets down after sunset; you’d hear the occasional boat horn or church bells, but nothing like the constant buzz near the Rialto. Check-in was a breeze – the host met me with keys and a quick rundown in broken English (well, mine’s not great either), and there’s Wi-Fi that held up for streaming, though it dipped a bit in the evenings. It’s rated 4 stars, and I’d say it earns that for the value, but fair warning: no elevator, so those steep stairs might be a workout if you’re on the upper floor – I huffed a little, but hey, it burned off the gelato. The bathroom’s modern enough, with hot water that doesn’t quit, and the place stays surprisingly cool even without AC cranked (Venice humidity, you know?).

All in all, if you’re after authentic Venice – the kind where you can sip coffee at a local bar on Campo San Pietro without a million selfies in the background – this studio’s a gem for rest and relaxation, hence the R&R in the name. It’s not flawless; the space is small for more than two people, and during high season like Carnevale, the nearby streets can get lively with festivals spilling over from the Biennale area. But that’s part of the charm, right? I left feeling like I’d actually lived there a bit, not just visited. For couples or solo travelers wanting to unwind in Castello’s laid-back rhythm, it’s worth the 7.6 rating – book it early, though, as spots like this fill up fast in spring.

Linda is an awesome person. She even answered my stupid questions so quickly. Thanks Linda:) Secondly, location is also really good. It is so close to bianalle area. Also it gives chance to experince local life and really close to historal areas.

What could be improved: maybe it can be added a door to separate bedroom and livingroom

  • Rebecca from United States – 28 October 2023 (8/10)

Belinda was incredible. She went above and beyond to help us get to the apartment. She contacted taxi companies and stayed in touch and was there for any issues we had. The facilities were nice and updated and I really liked the location. It was quiet but close to everything.

What could be improved: The bed is not comfortable and despite paying a cleaning fee there were cobwebs and the tea pot was dirty with milk stuck inside.

  • Kolesnikova from Ukraine – 3 September 2023 (8/10)

The apartments are good. The only negative was the dirty floor. It takes a long time to get to the main sights, especially in the heat. But in general, everything is fine.

  • Sara from United Kingdom – 10 September 2023 (5/10)

Location was excellent. Staff on arrival was great but other admin staff not so helpful.

What could be improved: Admin staff were slow to respond and did not respond satisfactorily. The apartment smelt of damp and mould on arrival – because it was damp and mould in the bathroom. A dehumidifier was provided but no instructions. I Googled instructions and the water tank filled up in less than 24 hours. Of course, damp is a problem in Venice. No window, just a small fan in the shower room does not help. Ok if you can open the two windows and leave the front door open if safety not compromised being street level apartment. Newly decorated nicely. No instructions for coffee machine or TV or fancy lamps – lamps which ran out of charge and no way of recharging. If things are amended with action taken, it could be a great place to enjoying visiting amazing Venice.

  • Mariane from Belgium – 16 September 2023 (6/10)

First impression is very good, but unfortunately when looking (and smelling) better, there are too many flaws.

What could be improved: Moist and damp and permanent bad sewage smell coming from the extremely small bathroom. Impossible to use the shower without having the entire 1 square meter bathroom flooded.
In the entire appartment there are panels covering up original walls, but not completely (stopped 10cm above the floor, for aeration I guess) and thus finding great amounts of dust and small gravel on the floor every day again.
Dark appartment, lights have to be used also during the day.
The bedspring is not the right fit for the bedframe and as a consequensce if you sit on the bed ledge, the bedspring falls through and you end up sleeping on a slide…

Appartamento perfetto per soggiornare a Venezia, pulizia e comfort impeccabili

What could be improved: È stato tutto perfetto, niente ha rovinato il nostro soggiorno

  • Thomas from Germany – 17 May 2024 (8/10)

Hervorragende Lage zur Biennale, schick eingerichtet und sehr leise.

What could be improved: Ein aufgebrachter Nachbar kam vorbei und beschipfte uns wüst, weil unsere Klimaanlage ihm zu viel Lärm verursacht hatte.

  • Elisabeth from France – 9 January 2024 (8/10)

    Cozy

What could be improved: Le plafond qui s effritait par endroits
