Hotel Description
Oh man, stepping into Sant’Angelo Canal View for the first time – it’s one of those spots in Venice that just hits you with that old-world charm without trying too hard, you know? I mean, it’s tucked away on a quiet side canal off the Grand Canal in San Marco, right near the Sant’Angelo vaporetto stop, so getting there from the train station is a breeze if you hop on line 1 or 2. No cars in Venice, obviously, but honestly, dragging your luggage over those little bridges can be a workout – I learned that the hard way after a red-eye flight. The building itself is this classic Venetian palazzo, all weathered stone and arched windows, and when I checked in, the staff were super welcoming, chatting about the best time to avoid the crowds at Rialto (early morning, by the way, before the day-trippers flood in). My room overlooked the canal – nothing fancy, but waking up to the soft lapping of water and the occasional gondolier humming was pure magic. It’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble spas or anything, but the beds are comfy, with those crisp white linens that smell faintly of lavender, and the Wi-Fi actually works without glitching out every five minutes, which is a godsend when you’re trying to map out your next wander through the sestieri.
What really makes this hotel stick with me, though, is how it feels like a little secret in the heart of the action. You’re just a five-minute stroll from St. Mark’s Square – I popped over there at dawn once to beat the pigeon-feeding hordes – but back at the hotel, it’s surprisingly peaceful, especially in the off-season like late fall when the fog rolls in and everything gets that misty, romantic vibe. The breakfast spread is simple but solid: fresh croissants, cappuccino that’s not too milky (ask for it “ristretto” if you want it strong, like the locals do), and maybe some prosciutto if you’re lucky. Rooms can be on the smaller side – mine had this quirky slanted ceiling that made me duck a bit, and no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing – but that’s Venice for you, right? Sort of adds to the authenticity. I remember sitting on the tiny balcony one evening, nursing a spritz from a nearby bacaro on Calle della Mandola (highly recommend their cicchetti, by the way), watching the sunset paint the water orange. It’s not immune to the tourist buzz – you might hear voices echoing off the canals during peak summer hours – but at night, it quiets down to just the gentle creak of boats and distant church bells from San Marco.
Look, if you’re chasing that real Venice experience without shelling out for a five-star palace, Sant’Angelo is a winner – that 9.1 rating isn’t hype. It’s got heart, you know? Well worth it for couples or solo travelers who want to feel immersed, not isolated. Just time your visit outside July-August if you can; otherwise, the heat and crowds might test your patience. I left feeling like I’d actually lived there a bit, not just passed through.

Fabulous stay in beautiful Venice. – David from United Kingdom – 18 June 2025 (9/10)
Good sized property in excellent location. Good communication from owner.
What could be improved: More cups/mugs would have been useful. The Perfect Venetian Apartment! – Wendy from United States – 6 June 2025 (10/10)
This property made the trip! Location was near all the conveniences like boat bus taxi pier, airport boat shuttle, restaurants, shops, bars, bodega type stores, souvenir stores, a town square, and plenty more…. The place was pure magic. Very moody wall color which just put you in a Venice state of mind with all its mystery and intrigue, and well appointed decor with gorgeous terrazzo tiling throughout. The layout was also perfect for friends traveling, two couples, or families. Each room is set up like its own self contained apartment with the kitchen dining room dividing the two for privacy. There’s also a bonus living room as well. The apartment was immaculate and no detail was spared. The host was very responsive, helpful, and gave spot on details for how to get there! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!! This made my trip!!!!
What could be improved: NAEasy to find and friendly host in a great location – Steve from United Kingdom – 23 May 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Nothing to say here. The perfect stay – Liam from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (10/10)
The property was exceptionally clean, well located and beautifully designed. The detail to the interior and comfort. We Will be back. Thank you so much for the responsive replies and being on hand always. Really great helpful information on check in and local amenities.
Very good – Marinou from Greece – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
Nice and big appartment, very cosy and clean.
What could be improved: Lots of mosquitos.
The outside entrance of the building is very bad.The apartment was stunning. I would love to go back there. – Sara from United Kingdom – 5 April 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful decor, bed linen and towels. Good communication with the host Giovanna, who was friendly and helpful. Lots of tips about bars and restaurants. There was some lovely artwork at the apartment but it felt very comfortable at the same time – not like living in a gallery/museum.
Easy to reach from Sant Angelo ferry bus stop. Just loved it.
What could be improved: If you wanted to cook a lot (which we didn’t) the kitchen was small but it had everything we needed.Beautiful apartment in great location with a very helpful host. We would recommend to family and friends. – Jane from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location for main sights! Two minute walk to drop off point for vaparetto and Alilaguna to/from airport. Excellent and timely response from host if we had any queries. Apartment clean and spacious with comfy beds. Bedding and towels both soft and had a luxury feel.
What could be improved: It’s hard to pick fault but minor items like not enough coffee mugs (2 in kitchenette) for 4 people. A small booklet on the apartment and local area would be useful.Beautiful, Pleasant and magical city with delicious foods and drinks! – Mahyar from Sweden – 6 March 2025 (9/10)
it's a very nice flat with beautiful decoration which has been renovated recently and still smells like a new apartment. very clean and cozy, bed/pillows are comfy, my wife is a little bit picky on this subject but she had no complain about this one.
location is very central but in a quite alley. we used Taxi boat from airport which dropped us just 100 meters away from the flat, very easy! but public transport stations are nearby as well.
What could be improved: nothing to complain about the flat itself, if one thing, it would be lack of Nespresso or any other coffee machine which would be very nice to have, I am not a fan of instant coffee but that option was available.
the other thing is Map applications in Venice, it seems that Google map is not doing great here in Venice. when we arrived by Taxi boat, I've put the address in google map and it said 6 minutes which was ok but unexpected, then the host shared her location on Whatsapp with me and I saw I am not getting any closer to her, so I changed my navigation to Apple map and tried to navigate to the shared location when I saw that I was going the wrong direction the whole time and need to do a turn back all the way to the Taxi drop location and from there it was only One minute to the flat address which we were welcomed and got our keys. I dropped pin when we were in flat for easier future navigation.
the same night we went out and came back after midnight and I used my dropped pin in Google map, unfortunately it was not a good experience, little dark and empty streets and we spent almost an hour to find the address which frustrated us a lot, at the end my wife used Apple map again and successfully led us back! I am Google map fan myself but here it didn't do us any good!
the problem with the dropped pin and Google map was that we were ending up on the nearby alleys and streets which were blocked by water and we couldn't reach our flat, this didn't happen any other night though!!!Exceptional – Rachel from United Kingdom – 1 March 2025 (10/10)
Perfect place to stay and central for exploring Venice , would definitely recommend.
What could be improved: No light over the kitchen areaExceptional – Julie from United Kingdom – 14 February 2025 (10/10)
A really stylish apartment in a great location, nice and quiet but only a short walk to the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square
What could be improved: Could have done with more lighting options in the kitchen / dining area- otherwise excellent
