Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about staying in Cannaregio — you’re still absolutely central to everything Venice has to offer, but you get to wake up in a neighborhood where actual Venetians live and work. From Serenissima, you can walk to the Rialto Bridge in about ten minutes, and St. Mark’s Square is maybe fifteen minutes on foot through some of the city’s most beautiful back streets. But honestly, you might find yourself spending more time just wandering the immediate area. There’s a fantastic bacaro (that’s a Venetian wine bar, if you’re not familiar) just around the corner, and the morning market stalls along the nearby canals give you a glimpse of daily Venetian life that most tourists never see.

The Rooms

The rooms at Serenissima won’t blow you away with size — I mean, this is Venice, where space is at an absolute premium — but they’re thoughtfully designed and genuinely comfortable. What struck me most was how quiet everything felt, especially considering you’re in the heart of one of the world’s busiest tourist destinations. The beds are actually good (not always a given in Italian hotels, to be honest), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling sterile. Some rooms have canal views, though even the courtyard-facing ones have their own charm with glimpses of typical Venetian architecture.

Getting Around

You know what’s really convenient about this location? The Guglie vaporetto stop is practically on your doorstep, which means you can hop on a water bus and be at the train station in five minutes or cruise down the Grand Canal whenever you want. But here’s the thing — you probably won’t use it much during the day because walking through Venice from this spot is just too enjoyable. The hotel staff actually knows the neighborhood well and can point you toward the less obvious routes that locals use, which is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to avoid the tourist bottlenecks.

  Emplacement idéal au calme et à deux pas de tout.
  Supermarché, restaurants, Boulangerie et à deux pas.
  Deux arrêts de bateau différents (pour centre ville et ligne pour les îles) respectivement à 5 et 7 min à pied.
  Logement un peu sombre mais pour Venise pas évident de trouver de la lumière.
  Superbe petite terrasse, cuisine très fonctionnelle, salle de bain impeccable et lit grand et confortable. Je recommande !

  Locația este bună, casa curată. Alături magazine, restaurant, traseul central care duce spre punctele de turism, e ok.

  Superbe petite maison de charme bien équipée et très propre, au calme au fond d’une cour à la fois loin du tumulte touristique, et au cœur de la vie vénitienne.
  Vaporetto très proche, et nombreux commerces aux alentours, notamment un magnifique supermarché dans un ancien théâtre.
  Thomas est très réactif, et les infos sont très claires.
  La chambre est encore plus belle que sur les photos.
  
  What could be improved: Tout était parfait, il manque juste un toaster.

  The location was brilliant as it is a 15 mins walk from the airport bus stop and waterbus stop.
  
  You are 5 min from a grand canal waterbus stop, 1min stop from Rialto bridge.
  
  3/4 incredible chichetti places close by.
  
  A great escape from the crowds whilst being central.
  
  Strong shower and Aircon.
  
  What could be improved: It would have been nice to have some shower gels etc.
  
  Bed was firm, personal preference really.

  Good location, nice decorations, good airco. Well equipped kitchen.
  
  What could be improved: The outside is not usable. It is due south in a courtyard with no air moving so it gets soaring hot and the walls ooze the warmth the rest of the day and night. Some sort of parasol or green or whatever would be nice.

  Location – very quiet but close to nice local bars and cafes. Good hot shower. Airconditioning upstairs and downstairs.
  
  What could be improved: Courtyard at front of property was a little untidy which made it feel a bit unwelcoming. Bed was not super comfortable, very thin mattress.

  Thomas and his wife were extremely friendly and responded to every my question, helped… They even waited for me at the door to wish me welcome and safe trip on my way back. The apartment by itself is simply amazing – close to every of top locations in Venice and stil surrounded only with private house which made it very quite and cozy. Real home-feeling. Every recommendation and I will for sure always be delighted to come back to Serenissima ❤️

  I was there from the Aug 27th to the 2nd. .As for the location, if you want to be in the Cannaregio area, the apartment has a very good location, close to the main streets and restaurants. It's quiet, and you don't hear the noise from the street activity. Simon is the person in charge of any requests you may have; he responds immediately to any questions you have.
  wifi runs without a problem and indications of how to reach keys and enter the property are easy to follow.
  
  What could be improved: I was there from the Aug 27th to September 2nd. The apartment was received with basic cleaning, It was easy to see accumulated dust under the furniture, and although the toilet was clean, it didn't have a good cleaning. The shower had a lot of mold. I tried to clean it to see if it would come off a bit and I was able to clean the spot I wanted. So I would say that the cleaning person's approach is more like surface dusting, with nothing deep or well done. One thing I didn't like was that the bed cover (definitely not clean from the previous guest) had a stain/moisture on it, which was not very inviting when I entered the room and I wanted to go to bed. The apartment tends to be dark even with the windows open. Although in Venice, one is outside all day, so if you only need the room for sleeping, this is not a problem. The toilet paper was given to me more than halfway used. I know that you have to buy the things you use, but I did expect a full roll when starting my rental
