Sunny Canal a/c wifi Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked into Sunny Canal a/c wifi, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the name — it sounds more like a WiFi network than a four-star hotel. But you know what? Sometimes the best places in Venice have the quirkiest names, and this little gem in Dorsoduro proved that point perfectly. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of calm that’s hard to find in the busier parts of the city. The air conditioning hit me right away (hence the name, I suppose), which was honestly a godsend during my July visit.
The Dorsoduro Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Dorsoduro — you’re still very much in Venice, but it feels like you’ve discovered the neighborhood where actual Venetians might choose to live. The Sunny Canal sits right in the heart of this area, and I mean it when I say the location is unbeatable. You can walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in about three minutes, and the Accademia Bridge is just around the corner. What really sold me though was how easy it became to duck away from the tourist crowds. When St. Mark’s Square gets overwhelming (and it will), you can retreat back here to tree-lined campos and quiet canals.
Your Home Base
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — this isn’t a place trying to pretend it’s a palazzo, and I appreciated that honesty. Everything worked perfectly, from the promised air conditioning to the WiFi that actually delivered on its billing. The windows opened onto a side canal, and I spent way too many mornings just watching the occasional gondola drift by with my coffee. Storage was cleverly built in, which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase for a week.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor space that feels more like someone’s dining room than a hotel restaurant. Nothing fancy, but the coffee was strong and the pastries were clearly sourced from a local bakery — you could tell because they were the same ones I’d see Venetians buying at the corner shop. The staff here actually seemed to remember guests’ preferences after a day or two, which is rare in a city where tourism can feel pretty impersonal. I also noticed they were genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations, steering me toward places in the neighborhood rather than the obvious tourist traps.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is its complete lack of pretension combined with that killer location. Couples seem to gravitate here because Dorsoduro has this romantic, lived-in feel that’s different from the postcard Venice experience. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the chaos to actually relax. The fact that it consistently scores so highly with guests tells you something — when you strip away the marketing speak and just focus on being comfortable and well-located, that’s often exactly what travelers want. Plus, and this might sound silly, but having reliable air conditioning and internet in Venice isn’t as common as you’d think, so the name actually makes perfect sense.

Sophie from Switzerland – 15 February 2025 (9/10)
The location is amazing! Close to everything. View over the canal. Good Wifi. Comfortable beds and sofa. Nice kitchen and dining table. It has everything you need.
What could be improved: Water tab is difficult to use. But that’s a minor problem.Don from Canada – 11 January 2025 (9/10)
Wonderful apartment a little away from the tourist area but close enough be in the thick of things quickly. It has all you need inside and lots of options with restaurants, cafe's and a small grocery store only a close walk.
What could be improved: The washer/dryer either needs to be fixed and have better instructions or be removed.Nicole from Australia – 1 October 2024 (9/10)
The location and price was amazing. We had great communication from the host and directions. It was spacious for a family of 6. 2 bathrooms was great. Excellent cooking facilities.
Yolanda from United States – 19 September 2024 (9/10)
The location was incredible It was easy to get to the tourist sites.
What could be improved: I had difficulty the first day find the address.Christopher from Australia – 15 August 2024 (9/10)
The location is amazing. It was great to be able to wonder through the streets and retreat from the crowds.
What could be improved: We travelled at the peak of summer and the 3 x A/C units took the edge off, but didn’t quite cool everything down to the level we’re used to…… but we’d still happily go back again!Supriya from Sweden – 18 July 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location and very comfortable apartment.
Careyruss from United States – 6 July 2024 (9/10)
Having AC in each room was wonderful for the humid weather of Venice! Use of washing machine with drying racks was great for keeping up with dirty laundry. Accommodated our family of 5 (including 3 teens) very well in terms of sleeping arrangements, two bathrooms, good WiFi, etc. The nearby Conad City market was handy and the Campo Santa Margherita piazza just past the market was a great space with many outdoor cafes away from the many crowds at St. Mark's, Rialto, etc. Evening vaporetto rides were a pleasant way to explore and see the city while avoiding the heat and some of the crowds. If you go to the Ca Rezzonico vaporetto stop, there are no stairs other than the ones inside the apartment building.
What could be improved: Shower in the main bathroom was small (many of them are in Europe) but the 2nd bathroom had a slightly larger shower. Be aware it's a 2nd floor apartment so luggage must be taken up stairs.Marie-eve from Canada – 3 July 2024 (9/10)
Location is perfect, place is beautiful! I highly recommand it!
Hannah from Australia – 24 June 2024 (9/10)
Excellent location near the university and away from tourist crowds. Close to vaperetto. Lots of food options and places to sit and watch the world go by
