Hotel Description
I remember stepping off the vaporetto at the Palanca stop on Giudecca – you know, that little island across the Giudecca Canal from the main hustle of Dorsoduro – and thinking, wow, this is Venice without the postcard chaos. The Sunrise Apartment is tucked away at Giudecca 278/C, just a short stroll from the water’s edge, past those old red-brick warehouses that locals still use for boat repairs. Honestly, arriving in the late afternoon, with the sun dipping low and casting this golden glow over the lagoon, it felt like I’d stumbled into a quieter, more lived-in side of the city. No massive tour groups here; instead, you hear the gentle lap of waves against the fondamenta and maybe a distant church bell from Il Redentore nearby. The building itself is one of those unassuming Venetian structures – think weathered stone steps leading up to a heavy wooden door – and check-in was a breeze, just a code texted ahead of time, no fuss with a front desk. I mean, if you’re hauling luggage, those stairs might be a bit of a workout (no elevator, fair warning), but once you’re in, it opens up into this bright, airy space that screams “stay awhile.”
What really hooked me was how the apartment lives up to its name – those east-facing windows catch the sunrise like nobody’s business, turning your morning coffee into a front-row seat to pinks and oranges spilling over the water toward San Giorgio Maggiore. It’s rated 4 stars, and yeah, it earns it with the setup: a full kitchen stocked with basics (I whipped up pasta from the little market on Calle della Croce, just around the corner), comfy beds with those crisp linens that smell faintly of lavender detergent, and a bathroom that’s modern without feeling out of place in this historic spot. You know what, though? It’s not huge – sort of cozy for a couple or small family – but that makes it feel authentic, like you’re borrowing a local’s pad. Mornings are peaceful; Giudecca wakes up slow, with fishermen chatting outside and the occasional vaporetto hum in the background. Evenings, well, it can get breezy off the canal, so pack a sweater if you’re sitting on the tiny balcony. I wandered over to Harry’s Dolci for gelato one night – it’s literally a five-minute walk – and popped into the Fondazione Giorgio Cini for some culture without the San Marco crowds. Parking? Forget it, this is Venice – but that’s part of the charm, ditching the car for boats.
All in all, if you’re after that elusive Venetian balance – close enough to hop over to Piazza San Marco (a quick vaporetto ride away) but far from the souvenir-shop frenzy – this place is a gem. The 8.7 rating feels spot-on; it’s not flawless (Wi-Fi dipped a couple times during peak hours, probably from all the nearby spots sharing bandwidth), but those views and the neighborhood vibe make up for it. Come in shoulder season, like April or October, when it’s less humid and the island feels even more like your own secret escape. Honestly, I’d book it again in a heartbeat – it’s the kind of stay that lingers, you know?

Clean comfortable perfect for a visit to Venice. – Mark from United Kingdom – 9 July 2025 (9/10)
The property was perfect for our needs, very easy to get to from Venice station. A short walk from the boat bus stop. The property was clean and well equipped, and appeared typical Venetian. Although not many toiletries in the bathrooms. The views from the lounge and bedrooms were great. The steps to the property are quite steep, which may be an issue for some. There are shops, cafes and restaurants all within a short walk of 5he property. Venice is one boat bus stop away so it is ideal for touring Venice. (Although the transport prices are confusing) Check in was simple with the host getting in touch by email and WhatsApp. We visited as a group of five and it was perfect would definitely recommend and stay again.

Exceptional – Mcgonigle from Ireland – 20 April 2025 (10/10)
Spotless, very spacious, comfortable apartment for my husband and I and our three children – two of them, teens. Giudecca was a lovely quiet part of Venice to stay in and a great excuse to take the vaporetto often. Grocery stores and restaurants were nearby. The apartment itself is in a great location and we were shown all it had to offer by our host.
What could be improved: Nothing, everything was great.Super-clean and well located apartment. – Kim from United Kingdom – 14 November 2024 (9/10)
The cleanliness was off the charts. So great to have this attention to detail. And cleaning materials provided so that we could leave the apartment how we found it.
What could be improved: I just needed a large frying pan is all. But I can't complain. It is a lovely apartment with a friendly hostess.Top accommodation in Venice, definitely recommend 🙂 – Magdaléna from Czech Republic – 14 July 2024 (10/10)
Huge apartment in calm part of Venice. With fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, it is a great choice for a family holiday or a group of friends. The price was amazing, especially for Venice.
There's a grocery shop, many restaurants and vaporetto stop within a few minute walk.
What could be improved: We were unfamiliar with waste handling in the area (as there were no trash bins), so definitely ask the owner when you arrive. 🙂
Otherwise everything was perfect. 🙂Brilliant. Would love to go back to Giudecca to same lovely property – Clare from Australia – 2 July 2024 (10/10)
Really great place to stay. Air conditioning excellent. Very spacious.
I would suggest that introduction message should suggest buying a transport all day pass immediately you head for your first trip as it is 10 euro one way. We got on the first boat across to mainland Venice (2 stops) and the boat driver would not sell us a 2 day pass so we had to pay him 50 euro for the 5 of us and then buy the 2 day pass for 35euro each on top.
I would definitely stay here again and next time I would by the pass immediately for the public transport.
We ate on Giudecca and it was excellent. Also Susanna told us about discount supermarket 2 minutes away which was great. It was a very nice apartment. I would definitely go back. – Atty from Philippines – 2 July 2024 (10/10)
The apartment itselft felt like home and it had a great view of the sea and Venice.
What could be improved: The stairs. Too steep.Very happy with everything. I wouldn definitely stay there hundred times without questioning 💕 – Ayfer from Canada – 21 September 2023 (10/10)
It was absolutely beautiful in many ways. Very friendly helpful people. Close to everywhere.
Space was huge. View was gorgeous.
What could be improved: Only thing is there was no elevator but wasn’t a problem at all. We had help with our languages .Superb – Husna from Sri Lanka – 1 September 2023 (9/10)
Apartment was very spacious with lots of storage space and had all the needed facilities and equipment and was in a quiet peaceful area with about a 5 min walk to a supermarket and the boat halt
The host was lovely and halped us out
What could be improved: The sight should mention that there is no elevator in the building and the apartment is on the 2nd floor and the stairway is very steep with no landingFantastic!!!! – Chris from United Kingdom – 15 August 2023 (10/10)
Everything. Lovely apartment, fantastic location out of the way, but accessible to everything
What could be improved: Nothing.
