Walking up to The B Collection – San Marco Riva schiavoni, you immediately understand why this three-star hotel punches above its weight class. I mean, the location alone — you’re literally steps from St. Mark’s Square on the famous Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront. The building itself has that classic Venetian charm without being overly ornate, and honestly, when you’re this close to the Doge’s Palace, the hotel doesn’t need to work too hard to impress. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to create something intimate and welcoming in what could easily feel like a tourist trap area.

The Heart of Venice

You know what’s incredible about this spot? You can walk to St. Mark’s Basilica in about two minutes, but somehow the hotel feels tucked away from the absolute chaos of the main square. The Riva degli Schiavoni is this gorgeous waterfront promenade where locals actually still walk — not just cruise ship passengers taking selfies. From here, you can catch water taxis to anywhere in the city, and the vaporetto stops are right there when you want to explore the outer islands. I actually found myself just sitting by the water in the evenings, watching the gondolas drift by with the sunset hitting the lagoon.

The Rooms

The rooms at The B Collection are what I’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. They’ve clearly put effort into making the most of the space — and in Venice, every square meter counts. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not always a given in historic buildings), and the bathrooms are modern without feeling out of place. Some rooms have canal views, others look toward the courtyard, but honestly, you’ll spend so little time inside that it hardly matters. What I appreciated most was the attention to details like proper lighting for reading and enough outlets for your devices.

The Venice Experience

This is where the hotel really shines — it puts you right in the middle of authentic Venice life. You can grab morning coffee at the little bar around the corner where the gondoliers actually go, not the tourist spots charging five euros for espresso. The Bridge of Sighs is practically next door, and you’ll find yourself wandering through those narrow alleyways that lead to hidden campos and local osterie. Being this central means you can easily duck back to the hotel when the day crowds get overwhelming, then head out again for aperitivo when the city transforms in the evening light.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.7 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. Couples especially seem to fall for this place — there’s something undeniably romantic about stepping out your door and being immediately surrounded by centuries of Venetian history. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and will point you toward the good bacari (those little wine bars) that tourists usually miss. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Venice, but it nails what most people actually want: a comfortable base in an unbeatable location where you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.

  The hosts , Audrey and Simon were exceptional ! They helped us with transportation , dinner reservations and recommendations which really made our travel experience easy and enjoyable. The apartment is amazing , very spacious and clean. We ate take out dinner in the apartment a few nights and it was fantastic to relax and enjoy the water views .

  Location was soooo good! Right by the key places to visit with views to die for. A lovely light and roomy apartment that met all our needs. Audrey went out of her way to help us organise trips and taxis and ensured that we had everything we needed. Loved the online door opening system. And the restaurant right outside the door was brilliant! Would 100% recommend!
  
  What could be improved: This place is truly brilliant, but shower in large bedroom ensuite isn't designed very well – very difficult to have shower without getting the floor wet. Also, no mugs for our cuppas, but that is a British thing!!

  What a stunning property !Within walking distance to the Basilica and Piazza San Marco .Many restaurants near by .We went to the resturants they suggested and they were great .Audrey and Simon were responsive and always super helpful .The water taxi from the airport drops you within minutes of the building .There are 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms with a kitchen .3 bedrooms and living area have a view of the Grand Canal ( Corner bedroom has a partial view ).The apartment also provides Wifi .There is a small elevator in the building that can accommodate 4 adults .
