First Impressions

Walking up to TheGlassHouse in Venice, you immediately understand why this four-star property has such a perfect rating. I mean, finding a hotel that actually lives up to its location score of 9.8 is pretty rare, but this place genuinely delivers. The name makes sense once you see it — there’s this beautiful interplay of glass and light that feels both modern and respectful of Venice’s historic character. You know what struck me most? How quiet Calle de la Racheta feels despite being so perfectly positioned in Cannaregio.

The Cannaregio Advantage

Honestly, staying in Cannaregio was one of those happy discoveries I wasn’t expecting. This neighborhood gives you authentic Venetian life without the crushing crowds of San Marco, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. TheGlassHouse sits in what locals consider the sweet spot — you can walk to the Rialto in about ten minutes, but you’ll also stumble across neighborhood bacari (those tiny wine bars) that tourists rarely find. The Jewish Quarter is practically next door, and there’s something special about having the morning light hit those ancient buildings while you’re heading out for coffee.

Your Room and Space

The room design here really gets Venice right — they’ve managed to create something contemporary without losing the soul of the place. Large windows (hence the name, I suppose) flood everything with that particular Venetian light that changes throughout the day. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — proper storage space, which is actually hard to find in Venice hotels, and bathrooms that don’t require you to be a contortionist. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which matters more than you’d think after long days of walking on stone streets.

Getting Around and Dining

Location-wise, you’re about a five-minute walk to the Guglie vaporetto stop, which connects you to basically everywhere you want to go. But honestly, I found myself walking more than taking water buses because the neighborhood itself is so engaging. There’s a fantastic restaurant called Osteria Al Squero just around the corner that serves some of the best cicchetti I had during my entire stay. The hotel staff actually knows the area well enough to point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook — always a good sign.

That perfect 10 rating starts making sense when you realize how rare it is to find a place that gets both location and execution right. Couples especially seem drawn to TheGlassHouse, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about the way the light plays through those windows, plus Cannaregio has this intimate, residential feel that makes Venice feel less like a museum and more like a place people actually live. The staff genuinely cares about your experience without being overbearing, and they understand that sometimes the best recommendation is simply pointing you toward a quiet campo where you can sit with a spritz and watch daily life unfold.

  Large space, very comfortable. Great location, very quiet but just a short walk from everywhere and just a few steps from the Vaporetto stops on the Grand Canal and to Murano. Nice restaurants around.
  Great host, easy communication.
  
  What could be improved: Not much to say. Maybe a coat hanger in the hall and a slightly bigger dining table (in the living room?) would be nice.

  Great, quiet location and loved the shutters which allows the bedrooms to be fully blacked out. Andrea was a fabulous host, very attentive and always on hand should you need. Great location, very convenient – would recommend the Alilaguna line straight from the airport as it drops you at FT Nove not 10mins from the apartment. Maybe not the quickest but a lovely way to begin your trip. Lovely, spacious apartment and a great base to explore the city.
  
  What could be improved: Only thing we would say are all the pillows are memory foam, not necessarily our favourite but still ok to sleep on.

  The host was very efficient and lovely to deal with. We were able to leave our suitcases at the property and explore Venice prior to checking in which was a bonus! The location is phenomenal and the hosts have put a lot of effort in to every detail to ensure the guests have a great time. We highly recommend 'The Glass House' to everyone. Thank you

  A lovely apartment with a fresh renovation and all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The shower is excellent, and the towels and bed linens are of good quality. As a complimentary touch, there was a bottle of Prosecco and some cookies. It was also very convenient to have a basic set with coffee capsules, oil, and salt.
  
  What could be improved: On the downside, the apartment wasn’t warmed up when we arrived, even though the heating can be turned on remotely, which was a bit uncomfortable. For the bedroom with separate beds, it would be better to have a more comfortable bed instead of a folding one.

  Location convenient and close to Vaporetti stations or an easy walk to San Marco. Loads of bars, bakeries and restaurants close by. Very spacious and comfortable. Modern finishes and everything we needed. The host was so responsive and accommodating.

  Great communication, was always quick to respond with any questions. Perfect location, easy to get everywhere, used the line 1 vaporetta, when we initially arrived. Well equipped kitchen and very spacious. Heating was useful. TV easy to use too.

  The apartment is new and with all comforts. There are wash machine and dishwasher, and you can finds all you need for cleaning. The Kitchen is very well equipped and you can find coffe sugars salts etc . There was also a welcome package of cookies and Prosecco

  – owner was very quick on responding messages/call
  – we did not expect there’s going to be 3 TVs in each room. Thats a bonus!

  – owner let us leave our bags in the building Before checking in & After we have checked out. 👍🏻
  
  What could be improved: – it is on the first floor. But the stairs were only a few steps. It was ok!
  – entering the building and the room requires internet and app. But it was easy & quite convenient. Just a tap on the phone and the main door unlocks. 👍🏻👍🏻
