It’s tucked away on Castello 3363, right in the heart of what feels like real Venice, not the postcard version overrun with day-trippers. Honestly, after lugging my bag over a couple of those little humpbacked bridges, I was sweating and second-guessing my packing choices, but the moment I buzzed in and climbed the stairs (no elevator, fair warning if you’re hauling heavy luggage), it all melted away. The place is this charming old building, sort of creaky in that authentic Venetian way, with exposed beams and terracotta floors that echo your footsteps – like you’re stepping into someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room.

What really won me over was how it balances that apartment vibe with just enough polish to feel like a treat. It’s rated 9.2 for a reason, and yeah, it’s got that 4-star sheen without trying too hard – think a compact kitchenette stocked with basics (I whipped up pasta one night using stuff from the nearby market on Via Garibaldi, which is a five-minute stroll and buzzing with locals grabbing their morning espresso). The bedroom’s cozy, with linens that smell faintly of lavender – or maybe that’s just the canal air seeping in – and a bathroom that’s surprisingly spacious for Venice standards, complete with a rain shower that blasts away the day’s humidity. I mean, Castello can get noisy in the evenings with folks spilling out from osterias, but the windows here are thick enough to muffle most of it, especially if you close them after dark. One minor gripe? The Wi-Fi dipped out a couple times during peak hours – you know, when everyone’s streaming or whatever – but it sorted itself quickly, and hey, who comes to Venice to scroll Instagram all day? During the quieter winter months, it’s blissfully peaceful, though summer means dodging more tourists on your way to spots like the Biennale gardens, just a short walk east.

All in all, if you’re the type who wants to live like a Venetian for a bit – dipping into hidden bacari for cicchetti or wandering to San Pietro di Castello for that off-the-beaten-path church vibe – this place is a gem. It’s not flashy, but it’s got heart, and at that price point in this city, it’s a steal. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially for the way the morning light filters through those shutters, making you feel like you’ve got your own slice of la Serenissima. Just pack light, time your check-in for after the afternoon rush, and you’ll be golden.

  Apartment was super clean and very well equipped. It suited our needs (2 couples) perfectly. Spacious and well located to restaurants, shopping, water transport and attractions. Brigette, our host, was extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

  We had a job finding it because it is in a quiet hidden location, we had a probem contacting the hosts for the keys because our phones weren't working well. However once we got the hang of the locks, all went well. Very lovely place, quiet area close to amenities. Every requirement was met. We loved it and would recommend it.
  
  What could be improved: See above about finding it and getting in. Otherwise all was well. Found a good place to leave our cases – a hotel in Calle del Vin. This information could be in the partment. Cheap and handy for the Alilaguna boat.

  The location is excellent . Flat is light, airy and comfortable. The 2 bedrooms are a good size so no fight who gets the bigger room. Nice to have 2 bathrooms. Sitting/ dining room area is a bit small but adequate. Kitchen is ok . As you say ‘ it did the trick’ and we were happy. Staff very communicative.
