Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Ca’ Corte Paludo during one of those whirlwind trips to Venice last spring – you know, when the city isn’t completely overrun yet, but the canals are starting to buzz with that early tourist hum. I’d hopped off the vaporetto at Fondamenta Nuove, which is honestly one of the smarter ways to arrive if you’re coming from the airport; it’s a quick ride and drops you right in Cannaregio, away from the mad crush around San Marco. The hotel’s tucked into this narrow calle off Strada Nova – not the flashy main drag, but close enough that you can grab a quick cicchetti at a local bacaro without much fuss. Walking up, the building looks like one of those classic Venetian palazzos, all weathered stone and arched windows, with that faint salty tang from the nearby lagoon mixing with the smell of fresh bread from the bakery around the corner. Check-in was a breeze, actually – the owner, this chatty guy named Marco (or was it Matteo? Anyway, super friendly), handed over the keys with a map scribbled with his favorite hidden spots, like that quiet campo where locals play cards in the evenings. No elevator, mind you, which is par for the course in these old spots, so if you’ve got heavy bags, well, pack light or brace for a workout up the creaky wooden stairs.
What really sold me on the place was how it felt like a genuine slice of Venice life, not some polished chain hotel. The rooms are cozy – I mean, compact in that charming European way, with exposed beams and these heavy velvet curtains that block out the morning light perfectly after a late night wandering. Mine overlooked a tiny courtyard, and honestly, waking up to the distant chime of church bells and the occasional splash of a gondola oar was magical, though it could get a tad noisy around dawn when the delivery boats rumble by. The WI-FI Fibre they boast about? Spot on – blazing fast, which was a lifesaver for uploading photos or streaming a quick show after dodging crowds all day. Breakfast was simple but solid: fresh croissants, cappuccino that actually tasted like it was made with love, and those little jars of local honey. It’s not a massive spread, but paired with the rooftop terrace (yeah, they have one – great for sunset Aperol spritzes), it hits the spot. Oh, and parking? Forget it; this is Venice, so you’re on foot or by boat, but that’s part of the fun. One minor gripe: the bathroom was on the smaller side, with that classic Italian shower setup where water goes everywhere if you’re not careful, but hey, it adds to the authenticity.
All in all, if you’re after a 4-star stay that feels more like crashing at a friend’s historic apartment than a sterile hotel, Ca’ Corte Paludo is a winner – that 8.9 rating doesn’t lie. It’s perfect for couples or solo travelers who want to dip into the real Cannaregio vibe, maybe stroll to the Jewish Ghetto for some history or hop a boat to Murano without the hassle. I left feeling like I’d actually lived a bit of Venice, not just snapped selfies at the hotspots. Book it in shoulder season if you can; summers get steamy and packed, but even then, this spot’s a quiet refuge. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself when you’re sipping coffee on that terrace, watching the world float by.

Location was ideal for us an easy access to the Ferry. And move around the island. The host Rossana was exceptionally helpful. Was very kind in guiding us giving right tips to go around.
What could be improved: Having an airing stand would have helped to dry wet clothesGreat stay in an amazing interiorly renovated apartment – Nuno from Portugal – 26 August 2024 (9/10)
Amazing apartment with great conditions for a big family and full of high end furniture and housing stuff. Very good air conditioning and an outstanding boarding even tough online from the owner.
What could be improved: The only remark was that we were surprised by constructions in the apartment next to us (starting early enough in the morning- 8am) which noise was so loud that it seems they would come in from the walls at any moment.Excellent location and a lovely personal greeting and introduction by Mr Fabio. – Todd from United Kingdom – 11 August 2024 (8/10)
Excellent location from which to explore Venice. Near a water bus stop which gets you from airport, train station and wider islands.
What could be improved: Nothing. It’s functional and what it’s says you get, you get.Modern but confy – Vivian from United States – 28 May 2024 (10/10)
Place was clean, modern and while still near the popular sites in Venice, far enough from the crowds.
What could be improved: Not so much not like. That we were made quite conscious of garbage and how few options there are in Venice. Which makes us realize how we should keep garbage to a minimum.Best place to stay in Venice. Will be coming back! – Przemek from Poland – 16 May 2024 (10/10)
