It’s tucked away in Cannaregio at Cannaregio 2952/A – yeah, that’s the quieter Jewish Ghetto side, not far from the Strada Nova if you’re walking from the train station. Honestly, getting there was a bit of an adventure; I hopped off the vaporetto at Ca’ d’Oro and wandered through those narrow calli with my suitcase clattering on the stones – no cars in Venice, remember? But once I arrived, the place felt like a hidden gem. The building’s this old palazzo right on a canal, and check-in was super friendly, though a tad slow because the staff were chatting with some locals about the latest acqua alta warnings. I mean, it’s Venice – water levels can sneak up on you, especially in fall, so pack those waterproof boots if you’re visiting then.

What really won me over was the vibe inside. My room had this massive window overlooking the canal – we’re talking actual gondolas gliding by, with that gentle lapping sound against the walls that lulls you to sleep at night (though it can get a little noisy with early-morning delivery boats in summer). The decor’s sort of classic Venetian, with polished wooden floors that creak just enough to feel authentic, and these heavy velvet curtains that block out the light when you need a lie-in after exploring. Breakfast was solid – fresh cornetti and cappuccino on a terrace with canal views – but nothing mind-blowing; I’d say skip it if you’re craving something more local, like grabbing cicchetti at a bacaro down the street toward Fondamente Nove. Oh, and speaking of nearby spots, you’re steps from the Ghetto Nuovo, where you can pop into the synagogues or that tiny bakery on Campo del Ghetto that does the best zaeti cookies – trust me, they’re crumbly and almond-y, perfect for a snack while wandering. The hotel’s 4-star rating feels spot-on; rooms are cozy but not huge (typical for these old buildings), with modern touches like reliable Wi-Fi and a minibar that doesn’t gouge you. One minor gripe: the air conditioning hummed a bit loudly in my room, but hey, it beat the humid summer heat outside.

All in all, if you’re after that real Venice experience without the San Marco chaos, this place is a winner – it’s got an 8.6 rating for a reason, you know? It’s not perfect, but it’s charming in that lived-in way, and being in Cannaregio means quieter evenings, maybe catching a sunset over the lagoon from a nearby bridge. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially off-season when the canals are misty and the crowds thin out. Just remember to book a canal-view room; it’s worth the splurge for those mornings sipping coffee while watching the city wake up.

  Venezia Vista Canale was the perfect stay for my family of 5 – 2 tweens, Grandma, husband and wife. Everything was clean, spacious and the view and location was amazing. I did some research before choosing this stay and no one was disappointed. We would absolutely stay here again and will recommend this stay to all of our friends and family.

  The property is located in a nice calm area, but within a walking distance to all the places of interest. It’s nice and comfortable, but I think it’s important to know that it looks now different from the pictures as it was renovated. There is a bunk bed in one of the rooms.

  This is a spacious 2-bedroom apt with fully equipped kitchen, dining area and a single living rooms, good and comfortable for a family with children. The location is great, particularly close to the Alilaguna orange line to San marco airport and the train station, bus terminal are 5-10pm walk. Lionella is super helpful too and provided a lot of insightful information. Thank you!
