Venice in high season is a madhouse, honestly, but that’s part of the charm, right? Anyway, the Venice Apartment is tucked away on Calle Scoacamini, this narrow little alley off the main drag in San Marco, just a quick five-minute stroll from St. Mark’s Square. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, but far enough that you escape the worst of the pigeon-feeding crowds by evening. Finding the door was a bit of a treasure hunt the first time – no big neon sign, just a discreet buzzer on the second floor (that’s European second, so one flight up some creaky wooden stairs, no elevator, which might be a drag if you’re hauling heavy bags after a long flight). But once you’re in, it feels like you’ve unlocked a secret slice of real Venetian life, not some sterile hotel chain vibe.

What really won me over was how lived-in and cozy the place felt – like staying at a friend’s pied-à-terre rather than a generic rental. The apartment’s got these high ceilings with exposed beams that creak a little when the wind picks up off the lagoon, and the windows overlook a quiet courtyard where you can hear distant church bells chiming in the morning (San Moisè is right around the corner, actually, with its quirky baroque facade). The kitchenette’s small but functional – I whipped up pasta with fresh clams from the Rialto Market, which is only a 10-minute walk across the bridge, and there’s a decent coffee maker that saved me from overpriced café runs. Beds are comfy, nothing fancy, but the linens smell faintly of lavender, and the bathroom’s got that old-world tile work with a shower that packs surprising pressure. Oh, and Wi-Fi’s solid, which is a godsend for mapping out your day trips to Murano or just scrolling while the evening settles in. It’s rated 8.8 for a reason, I suppose – clean, well-maintained, and the host left a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge as a welcome (a nice touch, though I wish they’d included more basics like salt and pepper). Noise-wise, it’s pretty peaceful after dark, but expect some early-morning chatter from delivery boats on the nearby canal – Venice wakes up with the water, you know?

Look, if you’re after five-star luxury with a spa and concierge, this isn’t it – it’s a solid three-star apartment that nails the authentic experience without breaking the bank. But honestly, that’s why I’d go back in a heartbeat. Staying here lets you slip into the rhythm of the city, wandering out for gelato at Grom on Campo San Barnaba (a short vaporetto hop away) or just people-watching from your window as gondolas glide by. In quieter months like November, it’s even better – fewer crowds, that misty fog rolling in, making everything feel magical. Just pack light for those stairs, and you’ll be set for a trip that feels genuinely yours.

  Excellent apartment in the heart of Venice. Perfect location 4 minutes walk from St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Clean and tidy. Very easy check-in. Lucia is a perfect host, very communicative, responds quickly and gives very accurate information. If you want to spend an unforgettable vacation, choose this apartment.

  Perfect apartment to stay in Venice! The apartment was perfect for my family of 4. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. The location is close to Rialto bridge and to the other side St. Mark’s square. (5 and 3 mins away). The gondola rides are literally a few steps away from the apartment and there are plenty of restaurants around it to choose from we tried a couple. Staying there made me feel Venetian for sure! Loved waking up in the mornings to the sound of the city and the businesses around opening.

  The hosts were incredibly helpful and friendly, making our stay truly enjoyable. We will definitely return to this property on our next visit to Venice and will also recommend it to our friends and family!
  The house is fully equipped with everything you need, and its location is fantastic—very central and convenient for exploring the city.
  
  What could be improved: The ceiling had some dust and a few spider webs, which could use a quick cleanup, but everything else was perfect.

  Amazing location right in the centre – <10 minutes to St mark’s square, <10 minutes to the Rialto bridge. The flat had a very homely and authentic feel. The owner couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming.

  The apartment is centrally located, close to almost all attractions. It is spacious and was pretty clean.

  Location in an ideal place, everything nearby (restaurant, pastry shop, vaporetto stop, Ponte di Rialto bridge, Piazza San Marco). The apartment is easy to find. Great communication with the owner of the accommodation.
  
  What could be improved: The location of the apartment on the tourist route means noise from tourists at night and early in the morning from the supply of shops. The windows are not soundproof.
