Venice Appartament Salini – Near the Biennale Overview

I remember stepping off the vaporetto at Arsenale – you know, that stop that’s always a bit less chaotic than the ones closer to San Marco – and weaving my way through those narrow calles in Castello to find Venice Appartament Salini. It’s tucked away on Calle del Squero, this quiet little street that feels like a secret, especially in the evenings when the day’s tourists have thinned out and you can hear the gentle lap of water against the old stone walls. Honestly, arriving in Venice is always a bit of a whirlwind with the luggage and the humidity, but the host met me right at the door with a warm smile and a quick rundown of the keys – no fuss, just straightforward, which is a godsend after a long train ride from Milan. The building itself has that classic Venetian charm, all weathered brick and wooden shutters, but inside, it’s been done up modern without losing the soul – think exposed beams overhead and these cool, minimalist furnishings that make you feel like you’re staying in a friend’s stylish flat rather than some impersonal hotel room.

What really won me over, though, was how it all just works for a real trip to Venice. The apartment – well, it’s more like a self-contained suite with a little kitchenette stocked with basics (I whipped up espresso every morning, dodging the overpriced cafes), a comfy queen bed that actually lets you sleep through the night despite the occasional church bell from nearby San Pietro di Castello. And the location? It’s genius if you’re into the Biennale – we’re talking a five-minute stroll to the Giardini pavilions, where the art crowd buzzes during exhibition season, but off-peak, it’s blissfully quiet, like you’ve got your own corner of the city. I mean, sure, there’s no elevator, so pack light if stairs aren’t your thing (I learned that the hard way with my oversized suitcase), and the Wi-Fi can be spotty when everyone’s streaming at once, but that’s Venice for you – authentic grit mixed with magic. Mornings, I’d open the windows to that faint salty breeze from the lagoon, maybe catch the scent of fresh bread from the bakery on Via Garibaldi just a block over, and it felt like I was living the local life, not just visiting.

Look, if you’re the type who wants to ditch the San Marco crowds and dive into something more genuine, this place is a gem – especially for couples or solo travelers craving space to unwind after pounding the pavements. At 4 stars with a 9.5 rating, it’s not hype; it’s earned. I’ve stayed in fancier spots, but none that made me linger over breakfast watching boats glide by, or tempted me to extend my trip just to soak in the neighborhood vibes. Venice can be overwhelming, but Appartament Salini sort of grounds you – practical, cozy, and right where the real action (or quiet) happens. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in shoulder season when the canals aren’t swarming and you can actually hear yourself think.

Reviews of Venice Appartament Salini – Near the Biennale

  • Comfortable apartment for exploring Venice – Ian from United States – 13 July 2025 (10/10)

Clean and comfortable apartment in a great location. Easy access to the vaporetto and the biennale. Nice selection of neighborhood restaurants nearby.

What could be improved: Nothing. It was great.

  • Good value. – Dana from United States – 3 July 2025 (9/10)

I like the location, good size apartment, nice kitchen, bathroom, and washing machine to catch up on laundry.
Close to restaurants, grocery and short walk to vaporetto, Biennale, and San Marco.

What could be improved: Takes extra time to get there by vaporetto. Just plan accordingly. It is work the extra ride.

  • Very nice place, great location. – Walter from United States – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location. Away from crowds but easy to get to everything. The owner was so nice and friendly. Great communication and hospitality. The apartment was very clean and enjoyable. Everything that you need for a stay.

    What could be improved: None

  • Exceptional – Gundega from Latvia – 26 October 2024 (10/10)

Perfect. Everrything- very clean, everything you need for cooking, even coffee, juice and water.
Great welcome from the host, clear instructions on what to do, how to get arround etc.
Perfect location, walking distance from all main attraction – San Marco, Rialto bridge, Biennale just arround the corner.
You will enjoy grocery shop just arround the corner, plenty of restaurants, 2 pharmacies if you need to.
You can actually get everywhere walking and vapparetto stop is very close to apartment.

What could be improved: Not a minus, just take into account that it is second floor with stairs, if that may be an issue for you.

  • Splendid holiday in a gem of an apartment – Rae from South Africa – 26 July 2024 (10/10)

What a beautiful, loved and impeccably maintained property. We spent two days here and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Both rooms are of a good size with comfortable beds. There are two toilets and one very large bathroom, bigger than you would expect.

The apartment is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay.

The apartment is clearly well maintained and cared for, its clean, bright and airy.

The hosts Giovani and Alexandra were ever so kind, keeping in close touch with us to make sure we reach our destination easily. We were met by Giovani who walked us to our apartment and even left gelato in the freezer which we all enjoyed.

They also helped organize all our transport to get to the airport as we left early in the morning.

It was our first visit to Venice and we will definitely return.

Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • Terrific flat in perfect location. – Marie from Australia – 26 June 2024 (10/10)

Great personal service, with a meeting to handover keys and even help with getting the luggage up the stairs. Lots of valuable information on arrival including local area info to make stay easy and pleasant. Would happily stay again!

  • Exceptional – Oleg from Russia – 23 June 2024 (10/10)

Very nice apartment, cozy, clean and pretty. Not far from San Marco but at the same time at good quiet location. Hosting guys Giovanni and Alexandra were very supportive and nice.

  • A clean, well-appointed apartment in the best location with clear, constant communication from the hosts informing you o – Bridger from Australia – 22 June 2024 (8/10)

A clean, well-appointed apartment in a great location. It was off the beaten track in a residential area but within easy walking distance of the main hub.
The communication from the hosts was excellent. They maintained a steady flow of information before and during our stay and even came to meet us from the water taxi.

What could be improved: The only thing we didn't like was the lack of seating in the living room. There was only one armchair for an apartment that holds 4 people. We wanted to watch a movie on our first night after a huge day of travelling/sightseeing but we had nowhere for us all to sit. There is a table with bench seats around it but its not suitable for relaxing on. We ended up just going to bed.

  • Very good – Detlev from Germany – 17 May 2024 (8/10)

    Extremly friendly and helpful hosts

  • Very clean and spacious apartment in great location, value for money – Clara from Italy – 3 May 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is very clean, well stocked and spacious. We stayed here as a pair of friends and were very comfortable. It is conveniently located right in between Arsenale and Giardini, if you are visiting the biennale. And even if not, it is just on Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, which is a big street for food and drinks so it was very very convenient. I was initially worried about noise at night but because the apartment is located in a small residential area behind the main street, it was still peaceful and calm.

Alexandra and Giovanni, the hosts, also shared with us a list of food recommendations around Venice. We managed to visit a few of the spots on their list, and they are definitely some of the best places we've eaten at in our different visits to Venice!

I'd definitely stay here again when I am back in Venice.
