It was one of those drizzly Venetian afternoons in early spring, when the air smells faintly of salt and old stone, and honestly, I was dragging my suitcase over the uneven pavement, thinking, “Please let this place have that lift they mentioned.” Turns out, it does – a rare gem in a 17th-century palace like this, where stairs can be a killer after a day of wandering. The building itself is tucked into the heart of San Marco, just a quick five-minute stroll from Piazza San Marco, but far enough from the pigeon hordes and souvenir stands that you don’t feel swallowed by the tourist crush. I mean, you’re literally in a historical palazzo from the 1600s, with those heavy wooden beams overhead and frescoed ceilings that make you pause and stare – it’s not some sterile hotel chain; it’s like crashing at a noble’s spare apartment.

What really sold me was how lived-in it felt, you know? The apartment I stayed in had these tall windows overlooking a quiet courtyard – no direct canal view, which keeps the noise down at night, but you can hear the distant chime of the Campanile bells in the morning, sort of syncing with the clatter of espresso cups from the nearby cafés on Calle Larga XXII Marzo. It’s rated 9.6 for a reason; everything’s spotless, with a modern kitchenette stocked just enough for whipping up a quick pasta (grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto Market, only a 10-minute walk across the bridge – pro tip: go early to avoid the crowds). Check-in was a breeze; the host met me right at the door with keys and a map scribbled with insider spots, like that hidden gelateria on Campo San Fantin. Well, parking’s a non-issue here since Venice is car-free, but if you’re arriving by water taxi, it’s pricey – budget for it. And yeah, the lift is tiny, fitting maybe two people and a bag, but it beats hauling luggage up three flights. One minor gripe: the walls are thick, but during peak summer, you might catch echoes of street performers filtering in – nothing earplugs can’t fix, though.

All in all, if you’re after that authentic Venice vibe without sacrificing comfort, this place nails it. It’s central enough to hit the big sights – like dodging the queues at the Basilica or catching a sunset gondola from the nearby traghetto stops – but retreats into a peaceful nook when you need a break. I’ve stayed in fancier spots, but this one’s got soul; it’s where I’d send friends who want to feel like they’re living the local life, not just visiting. Book in shoulder season if you can – fewer people, and the city’s magic really shines through the mist.

  The apartment was spacious with a very well equipped kitchen for cooking, in a great location, and with a lovely view! Carla was exceptionally helpful and communicative throughout our stay. Highly recommend!

  An amazingly stylish, beautifully decorated warm quiet comfortable apartment with all facilities in the centre of Venice. A few minutes walk to St Marks square and also a few minutes walk to the water bus stop to the airport.
  The attention to detail!! So so classy.
  It has everything you would need. Really wish we had been able to stay longer. And certainly will in the future.
  A week in the apartment would be a fabulous holiday in itself !!
  Not to forget Carla who was so helpful, answering all our questions and even meeting us to take us to the apartment and giving us information about water bus stops.

  The apartment is located on the third floor of an old building (accessible by lift). The place is a bit dated, but the size of the apartment and its facilities more than make up for it, especially when compared to single hotel rooms in a similar price range.
  
  The apartment is a few minutes away from San Marco square, and very close to all points of interest, as well as restaurants and even supermarkets.
  
  The property staff helped us arrange transportation from the airport and even walked us to the apartment.

  The location is so convenient. As it is a few minutes walk from pier Santa Maria del Giglio, taking waterbus Alilaguna to and from the airport is the best choice. Everything we need is provided for our stay, including washing machine, after our weary days in the Dolomite. So homely, excellent.
  
  What could be improved: Checking out time is tight,10 am sharp in the morning. There is no option for storing luggage. Alternate storing location in the town is not an option due to longer travelling distance to and from the pier. Should consider providing some facilities for luggage storing on the ground floor.

  The fact that there was a lift to the apartment. It is located close to everything and all the major attractions but when you are inside you don’t feel like you are crammed by all the tourists. It is made extra special by the canal and the gondoliers just outside your window.
