First Impressions

When I first stepped into Zattere Design Loft R&R, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star property tucked away on Fondamenta Nani. But you know what? This place completely surprised me. The design is sleek and modern — which is actually pretty refreshing in a city where you’re constantly surrounded by centuries-old architecture. It’s like finding this perfectly curated contemporary space that somehow doesn’t feel out of place in historic Dorsoduro.

The Perfect Dorsoduro Spot

The location is honestly incredible, and I mean that. Being right in Venice on the Zattere waterfront means you’re steps away from the Giudecca Canal with those amazing views, but you’re also far enough from the San Marco crowds that you can actually breathe. I spent mornings walking along the promenade watching the boats go by, and evenings exploring the quieter campos that most tourists never find. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is practically around the corner, and you can walk to the Accademia Bridge in about ten minutes — though honestly, I found myself just wandering the neighborhood because it’s so charming.

The Space Itself

The room — well, it’s more like a loft really — has this wonderful open feel with high ceilings and these great windows that let in so much light. The design aesthetic is clean and minimalist, which I actually loved after spending days in ornate palazzos and churches. There’s a proper seating area where you can spread out with maps and guidebooks, and the bed is genuinely comfortable (important after all that walking on stone streets). The bathroom is modern and spacious, with a rainfall shower that felt amazing after long days of sightseeing.

Practical Comforts

What I really appreciated were the thoughtful touches — good WiFi, excellent air conditioning (crucial in summer), and a little kitchenette area that’s perfect for making morning coffee or storing snacks from the local markets. The staff was helpful without being intrusive, and they gave me some great recommendations for bacari that I never would have found on my own. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, you’re in Venice — you want to be out exploring the incredible food scene anyway.

This place works because it gives you that perfect balance of modern comfort and authentic Venetian location. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where locals actually live and work, not just a tourist bubble. The design-forward approach means everything functions well — the shower has proper water pressure, the AC actually cools the space, and you have room to properly unpack and settle in. It’s the kind of place where you can have a genuine Venice experience while still having a comfortable, contemporary base to return to each night.

  Die Lage in Dorsoduro ist perfekt. Man ist schnell überall und hat zahlreiche Osterias, Bars und vor allem Zattere in unmittelbarer Nähe.

  What could be improved: Ich musste vor Ort noch einen separaten 3-seitigen Mietvertrag unterschreiben, incl. aller Kreditkartendaten. Ich dachte, das sei mir der Buchung bei booking alles erledigt. War auch alles im Voraus bezahlt.
  Das lesen und verstehen des englischen Vertrages hätte sicher 1-2 Stunden in Anspruch genommen.
  Hier hätte ich mir gewünscht den Vertrag vorher zu Prüfung zu bekommen, so blieb mir nichts anders übrig, als den Vertrag zu überfliegen und zu hoffen, dass dies passt.
  Der online check in, den man vorab per link bekommt bringt nichts. Vor Ort wusste die Frau, die uns in empfangen hat, nichts davon.

  The location of the loft is very convenient. The loft is light filled, with a pleasant outlook. Only one staircase to get to the front door.
  
  What could be improved: Despite their best efforts the managing agents could not get the wifi to work. In addition, the control element that belongs to and operates the induction stove top was missing, and so nothing can be heated up, or cooked on it.

  What could be improved: The loft area’s ceiling is too low to stand up in. The owner was not honest about that in the description of the property. If I had known, I never would have rented it. Also, the Wi-Fi didn’t work. Wi-Fi is an amenity I paid for that I didn’t receive.
