Hotel Description

I remember stepping off the vaporetto at San Marco and weaving through those narrow calli – you know, the ones that twist like a maze and suddenly open up into little squares – and there it was, Ai Patrizi di Venezia, tucked away in Campo Manin. It’s not right on the Grand Canal or anything flashy like that, but honestly, that’s what makes it feel like a real find in Venice. The building itself has that classic Venetian vibe, with these tall windows and faded frescoes that whisper stories from who-knows-how-many centuries ago. I mean, it’s a 4-star spot with a stellar 9.3 rating, but it doesn’t scream “tourist trap” – more like a patrician’s old palazzo that’s been spruced up without losing its soul. Check-in was a breeze; the staff greeted me with that warm Italian efficiency, no long lines or fuss, even though I arrived mid-afternoon when the city starts buzzing with day-trippers. Oh, and pro tip: if you’re lugging bags from the train station, it’s about a 15-minute walk over the Rialto Bridge – doable, but wear comfy shoes because those stone bridges can be a killer on your feet.

What really won me over were the rooms – mine had this high ceiling with exposed beams that made it feel airy and grand, like I was staying in some noble’s guest quarters. The bed was plush, with linens that smelled faintly of lavender (or was that just the canal air drifting in?), and the bathroom had these marble finishes that gleamed under soft lighting. It’s not perfect, though – the Wi-Fi dipped a bit in the evenings when everyone logs on, but hey, you’re in Venice, put the phone down and enjoy the view. Speaking of which, some rooms overlook the campo, where you can hear the distant hum of vaporettos on the water or the occasional accordion player busking nearby, but it’s surprisingly quiet at night compared to spots closer to St. Mark’s Square. Breakfast was a highlight too – fresh pastries, cappuccinos that hit just right, and these little fruit tarts that tasted like they came straight from a local pasticceria. I wandered out to explore and loved how it’s just steps from the Teatro La Fenice (catch an opera if you can – tickets aren’t cheap, but worth it in high season) or a quick stroll to the Rialto Market for morning produce. Well, sort of quick; Venice time means dodging crowds, especially in summer when the heat turns everything sticky and the canals get that earthy whiff.

All in all, if you’re looking for a place that balances that old-world charm with modern comforts without the overwhelming chaos of the main drags, Ai Patrizi is it. It’s ideal for couples or solo travelers who want to feel immersed but not smothered – you can slip back here after a day of gondola rides or museum hopping and just unwind. I’d go back in a heartbeat, maybe in the off-season when the fog rolls in and the city feels even more magical. Trust me, it’s one of those spots that sticks with you long after you’ve left the lagoon.

It is really amazing! In the old house, but fully new inside.

Even though the location is a bit far from the railway station, you can reach it by boat service followed by a short walk. Walking with luggage can be a bit challenging, but the apartment is in a very calm and quiet location. The facilities are good, with ample space, including a kitchen, sitting area, and more.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Vita from Latvia – 1 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was really clean and the rooms were cozy 👍🏼

  • Lauren from United States – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

The decoration was very cute. Perfect location and very clean!

What could be improved: There was no AC because of a regulation of the city, until April…but that should be shown in the description of the property. When I asked the manager or the person in charge she/he responded in capital letters like if she was mad because my question. Maybe is normal in some places there in Italy but not for us the tourist from USA. She said we should open the window…and we did… at the end there were a lot of mosquitos ruined my daughter’s face and they got infected for the rest of our trip.

loved loved loved this hotel! Out of all the cities we visited in Italy, our Venice stay stood out with this beautiful hotel. The room looked exactly like the pictures and we were so excited to stay at such a beautiful place that felt like old luxurious Italian homes at such an affordable price. The bathroom was so nice, Everything was very clean. There were free snacks available in the room as well! Great location and easy access. Everything we could ask for. thank you!

What could be improved: felt a bit uncomfortable that room keys were left on the table of the hall as any other guest could take them

  • Yahor from Belarus – 28 March 2025 (10/10)

Everything is exactly like on the pictures. Location and rooms are great, easily accessible, clean and lovely. All the facilities are perfect, cant't name anything to improve.

  • Lorena from Romania – 28 March 2025 (10/10)

    The decoration of the apartment
    Spacious and beautiful bathroom

  • Shivkumar from United Arab Emirates – 27 March 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location, just 3 min walk from Rialto water station, right in the centre. Beautiful big apartment, with very regal looking Venezian interiors. It has a lift which is rare in Venice buildings. It has restaurants and coop supermarket just a min away. I cant recommend it enough.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect, only one small thing was missing. There was no shower gel in the bathroom and we bought it from a local coop just a min away.

  • Matthew from South Africa – 25 March 2025 (8/10)

    Good location, nice little apartment.

What could be improved: No real staff interaction and the host wasnt the most helpful. Also didnt like send a picture of my credit card- no idea why this is needed. Also, on the check in email i think it would be helpful to give people information on how to get there and how to leave.

  • Theodoros from Greece – 25 March 2025 (10/10)

Location is the great advantage of this beautiful apartment. In the center of Venice, almost 20 minutes of walking to anywhere. Clean and spacious, highly recommended.

What could be improved: Really hard finding smth to dislike
