Hotel Description

Nestled in the historic heart of Venice, the enchanting 3-star “Al Piano – home away from home” offers travelers a genuine Venetian experience with all the comforts one could desire. Located in the characteristic Sestiere Castello district at 3901 piano primo, this exceptional accommodation lives up to its name, providing guests with a true “home away from home” feeling while exploring the magical floating city. With an outstanding guest rating of 9.4, this highly acclaimed establishment has consistently delighted visitors with its perfect balance of authentic charm, strategic location, and attentive service. The Castello district, one of Venice’s most authentic neighborhoods, allows guests to experience the real Venice away from the most crowded tourist areas while remaining within comfortable walking distance to major attractions.

From Al Piano, guests can easily explore the rich cultural tapestry that defines Venice. The hotel’s privileged position in the Castello district places you just moments away from the magnificent Basilica di San Marco and the iconic Piazza San Marco, where the history of the former Venetian Republic unfolds before your eyes. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the renowned Gallerie dell’Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, while those seeking to experience local Venetian life will find themselves immersed in a neighborhood where locals still outnumber tourists. The nearby Arsenale, Venice’s historic shipyard that once produced the formidable fleet of the Venetian Republic, offers a glimpse into the maritime heritage that defined this once-powerful city-state. The hotel’s strategic location also provides easy access to vaporetto stops, making exploration of the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge, and other Venetian islands like Murano and Burano convenient and stress-free.

What truly sets Al Piano apart, as reflected in its exceptional 9.4 rating, is its commitment to providing guests with an authentic experience that combines the charm of a traditional Venetian residence with modern amenities. The name “Al Piano” references its position on the “piano primo” or first floor, a typical feature of Venetian architecture that elevates guests above the occasional “acqua alta” (high water) while providing captivating views of the surrounding area. Inside, the hotel gracefully balances Venetian aesthetics with contemporary comfort, offering guests a peaceful retreat after days spent navigating Venice’s labyrinthine streets and bridges. The exceptional rating speaks volumes about the property’s cleanliness, service quality, and attention to detail that have earned it a loyal following of repeat visitors. Previous guests consistently praise the helpful staff who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay, from providing insider tips on authentic local restaurants to assisting with transportation arrangements. For travelers seeking an authentic, highly-rated Venetian experience that truly feels like a home away from home, Al Piano in the historic Castello district represents an ideal choice that promises to enhance your Venetian adventure with comfort, convenience, and genuine Italian hospitality.

Reviews

  • Hassan from Morocco – 6 March 2023 (10/10)

Nice and very well furnished apartment with all what is needed. Riccardo was always available to provide guidance and help (good recommendations, taxi booking, …). Excellent location with many good restaurants next door. Highly recommended!

What could be improved: Really nothing. I highly recommend the host and the apartment.

  • Anne from Australia – 20 November 2024 (10/10)

Fantastic location, fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of wardrobe space. A grocer, bakery and butcher all are just downstairs for a real community feel. It really did feel like a home away from home

  • Marc from Switzerland – 3 November 2024 (8/10)

The owner was very nice and helpful. He has nice restaurant and ice cream recommendations. The apartment had a nice size and was quiet yet near restaurants etc. For us, it was importantly near the Biennale main sites. The bed was very comfortable. The coffee machine was well provided with capsules.

What could be improved: There is a light in the closet which turns on automatically when anyone enters or leaves the bedroom, which can be very disturbing during the night. We eventually managed to block it with paper, tape, and a book.
In the evening, if you open the bedroom window you get the smell from a restaurant below. Not very disturbing, just plan not to have to open the window during restaurant hours.
The main door leads to stairs, which open directly to the apartment. This is not a problem if you don't have kids, but thre is no safety barrier so could be dangerous with young kids (which we didn't have).

  • Carole from Canada – 10 October 2024 (9/10)

We had a great 5 days in the apartment. Terrific location in a quiet yet central part of town, a very responsive and helpful owner who accommodated our schedule and provided a wealth of useful information (both in person and through his information folder at the apt), a spotless, and very well maintained apartment with lots of room, and only one flight of stairs!!

What could be improved: The kitchen could be better equipped – that said, we cook a lot and rarely do dinner in restaurants, so this may not be an issue for many people. Investing $30 bucks in some added utensils and a few more cheap pots and pans would go a long way. Otherwise, everything about our stay was very, very positive.

  • Aamir from United States – 23 June 2024 (10/10)

We loved everything about the property!

  • Rob from Australia – 28 May 2024 (9/10)

Great space, nicely designed, compact but good functioning kitchen

What could be improved: No problems

  • Henrike from United Kingdom – 15 May 2024 (10/10)

The accommodation was great. Riccardo organised everything perfectly and the location was perfect too!

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Fiona from Switzerland – 10 October 2023 (10/10)

We loved the contemporary and modern, yet beautiful design of the flat. We felt immediately at home.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect and to our liking.

  • Yichen from United Kingdom – 21 June 2023 (10/10)

The location is convenient, it is easy to get to the Biennale, and you can walk to the main venue in ten minutes. My favorite part of the room is the dining room, which is very cozy. The bed in the bedroom is also very comfortable. All in all, it's more than I expected and the price is reasonable.

  • Janis from Latvia – 23 May 2023 (10/10)

Riccardo have thought of everything. Every smallest thing is covered and there was absolutely no issues during our stay. Even umbrellas for guest was there and we used them a lot 🙂

Apartment is freshly renovated, spacious, quiet, new windows blocks street sounds very well.
Bed is comfy and there is also convenient wardrobe.
Kitchen is well equipped and they have built in walls both types of sockets EU and Italian type, which is very handy.
Location is really close to bus stop that has direct line to train terminal and long term parking.
Riccardo have made extensive list of suggested restaurants around Venice. This was really helpful, as there are tons of tourist traps where you would receive low quality food and service…
Riccardo was most responsive and helpful host I have experienced ever, not gust in Venice, but in my whole travels experience!

And most awesome surprise – we were welcomed with gifts – coffee, water bottles and Prosecco. We did no know it at the moment, but Prosecco was exactly what was needed after our trip to Venice.
