Appartamenti A San Marco Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of San Marco to find Appartamenti A San Marco feels like you’re following a treasure map — and honestly, that’s part of the charm. This three-star property sits right on Calle della Veste, which means you’re literally in the beating heart of Venice. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.8 out of 10, you know you’ve stumbled onto something special. The building itself has that weathered Venetian elegance you see in postcards, but what really matters is that you can practically roll out of bed and be at St. Mark’s Square in minutes.

The Location Magic

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re close enough to all the major sights that you don’t need to plan your day around water taxi schedules, but you’re tucked away on a side street that actually feels livable. Via 22 Marzo runs nearby, which locals use as a main thoroughfare — so you’ll see real Venetians going about their daily business, not just tourists taking selfies. The property scored 9.7 for location, and after staying here, I get it completely. You can grab morning coffee at the little bar around the corner, then wander over to the Doge’s Palace before the crowds hit.

The Apartment Experience

Each apartment here feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel — which is exactly what you want in Venice, honestly. The spaces have that lived-in comfort that makes you want to linger over morning coffee instead of rushing out to sightsee. What really impressed me was how comfortable the beds are (apparently other guests agree, because the property gets consistently high marks for sleep quality). The kitchenette setup is actually useful too — not just a mini-fridge and a prayer, but proper space to prepare simple meals if you want a break from restaurant dining.

Daily Life Here

Mornings are my favorite time at Appartamenti A San Marco. You can hear the city waking up — water taxis puttering past, shopkeepers opening their doors, the gentle hum of Venice coming to life. The apartment windows let in that particular golden light that bounces off the canals, and you realize you’re experiencing Venice the way locals do, not just passing through. Evenings are equally magical when you return from a day of exploring — the narrow street feels like your own little corner of the city, away from the crowds that cluster around the main piazzas.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it gives you the best of both worlds — you’re staying in authentic Venice without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The apartments offer enough space to spread out and actually relax, which is harder to find than you’d think in this city. Plus, when you’re this close to everything that matters in San Marco, you can pop back during the day to rest or grab something you forgot. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re living in Venice temporarily rather than just visiting, and that makes all the difference in how you experience the city.

Reviews of Appartamenti A San Marco

  • Daphne from Switzerland – 22 February 2025 (9/10)

The location was excellent. Elena was welcoming, informative and friendly.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Shari from United States – 9 September 2024 (9/10)

The apartment was clean and spacious. The bedroom had 4 windows you could open up to the busy Venetian street below. There was a table and 4 chairs, apartment size refrigerator, microwave, stove, and basic kitchen items. There were plenty of shops, and some restaurants nearby.

What could be improved: The contact Elena was not very warm. She just wanted to give us our keys and leave. She texted us a few weeks before we left and wanted to know how we were arriving and the approximate time. Which I thought was great. But the day before and the day of I contacted her and she did not respond. The made us uneasy since she was our only contact to access the apartment. We ended up calling her on the train and she answered. After staying in Sorrento, before heading to Venice, we had a very hospitable and helpful contact.
Most of the restaurants in the area were expensive. There were a few lower price ones, but you had to search them out. We were excited about having a small kitchen as our other two places did not in Rome and Sorrento. Unfortunately, the grocery store was quite a hike, so we did not use the kitchen much.

  • Martina from New Zealand – 11 August 2024 (9/10)

We arrived late due to train delay and the host was accommodating meeting us at later time. The apartment was in a good location. The downside was there was no lift but we've managed. The mattress on the bed was too soft. Other than that everything was fine. You have to take your own rubbish out – we didn't realise until the last minute before we were due to depart. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

  • Jasmine from United Kingdom – 7 August 2024 (8/10)

Good location and helpful lady who helped with my trip.

What could be improved: The only thing I could say which wasn’t the best was the shower pressure, apart from that it was a great location 10/10

  • Baadk from Ukraine – 30 March 2024 (8/10)

Еverything was good and corresponded to the description on the website. The location is great.

What could be improved: Cracked dishes. Lack of basic tea bags, coffee, sugar. If you want to keep your apartment clean, you need hotel slippers for all residents, not just one pair of worn-out ones

  • Henriette from United States – 20 September 2023 (9/10)

I loved the location. The apartment was clean. Loved the little kitchen and dining area. The AC was worked great and that was important to me in the summer. Close to many attractions. I felt safe here. I would stay again.

What could be improved: Many stairs to climb to get to my apartment (3rd floor). However I saw it as part of my daily workout. LOL. The shower needs little makeover but overall the bathroom was nice.

  • Maryna from Ukraine – 31 August 2023 (9/10)

I liked everything, a great option to stay for a few days. The apartment is located in the very center, there are many attractions around 2 minutes to Piazza San Marco. Lots of shops and cafes. Great hostess, let us check in early. The apartment is very comfortable and clean, has everything you need. We had a great time this weekend. Thank you!
