Appartamento Goldoni Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Castello to find Appartamento Goldoni honestly feels like you’re on a treasure hunt — and when you finally spot it on S.Lio, you realize you’ve struck gold. This three-star gem sits right in the real heart of Venice, and I mean really in the thick of things. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm you can’t fake, with weathered stone and those classic shuttered windows that make you feel like you’re living in a postcard.
Location Magic
You know what’s incredible about this spot? You’re literally surrounded by Venice’s most iconic sights, but somehow you’re not drowning in tourist crowds every time you step outside. The apartment sits in Castello, which locals will tell you is where real Venetians actually live and work. St. Mark’s Square is just a few minutes’ walk away — I timed it at about seven minutes — but you can also wander in the opposite direction and find yourself in quiet campos where kids are playing football and grandmothers are hanging laundry. It’s that perfect balance between being central and feeling authentic.
The Space Itself
The room setup here is what makes this place special, actually. It’s designed like a proper Venetian apartment, not just another hotel box, so you get that sense of actually living in the city rather than just visiting it. The space feels surprisingly roomy considering Venice’s famously tight quarters, and there’s something about the way the light filters through those traditional windows that makes even rainy days feel atmospheric. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between comfortable and characterful — nothing too fancy, but everything works perfectly and feels right for the setting.
Daily Life Here
What I loved most was how easy it became to slip into a Venice routine. There’s a fantastic little bakery literally around the corner where locals grab their morning cornetti, and the evening aperitivo scene happens right on your doorstep. You’ll find yourself doing grocery runs at the small markets nearby, picking up fresh bread and maybe some prosecco for sunset on your own little terrace or by the windows. The neighborhood comes alive in the early evening when people finish work — it’s when you really see how Venice functions as a living city, not just a museum.
Why Guests Love It
Couples absolutely rave about this place, and after staying here, I totally get why they rate the location a perfect 10. There’s something incredibly romantic about having your own little Venetian hideaway where you can escape the day-trip crowds but still be steps away from everything that makes Venice magical. The combination of authentic neighborhood life and prime tourist access is pretty much unbeatable — you get the best of both worlds without the premium price tag of the big-name hotels. Plus, there’s no better feeling than giving friends directions to “your place in Venice” and watching their faces when they realize you’re staying somewhere this perfectly positioned.

Reviews of Appartamento Goldoni

A simple yet beautiful little apartment very close to San Marco, with a big bedroom and a little kitchen. It was a very pleasant stay.
Linnéa from Canada – 15 November 2024 (9/10)
I loved the kitchen; everything worked well and was clean. I loved the location; a few minutes' walk from San Marco, it was still relatively quiet. I liked the bedroom and the feeling of coming home after a day wandering around Venice. I would be happy to stay here again.
What could be improved: The toilet seat was very loose and came off a few times. If someone were to use it and slide off, there might be quite the accident. It needs some attention.Christine from United States – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
I loved how central the location was and the apartment had everything needed. It was spotless. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and basic cooking items like salt, spices (herbs), olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The market was just across the street and if you are exhausted like I was upon arrival there’s a pasta to go right downstairs. There were two comfy chairs and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice, good pressure and hot water. The desk was perfect for journaling when the rain became too much to be out in and the washing machine worked beautifully. There was even laundry soap available to use. It rained like crazy while I was there and I enjoyed being able to cook dinner and make a cup of coffee while listening to the rain outside. Taking the garbage out to the garbage boat was an experience too, not hard at all. Venice is incredible and this was a perfect place for my first time visiting there. I hope I can return again in the future.

Boukhatem from France – 16 April 2024 (8/10)
The location is amazing, central but not too noisy once you close the windows and the flat was exceptionally clean and had everything needed for a short stay.
What could be improved: The twin beds pushed together were not very comfortable, kept drifting in between the space in the middle during the night. But overall it was okay, nothing you can't deal with for a few nights.Jeannine from United States – 30 January 2024 (9/10)
The owner was very accommodating and kind. She did all she could to make my stay as pleasant as possible. I would love to come back to such a welcoming atmosphere with the excellent, central location.
Giovanna provided a thorough binder for all basic information from all manuals for kitchen appliances, including washing machine, to maps to restaurant recommendations to garbage/ waste recycling procedures. She provided many extras such as coffee, tea, sugar, etc.. There were ample dishes, cups, glasses, towels, soaps, etc. and quite a variety of pots and pans. The hostess has obviously put her guests' needs in mind with beyond basics one finds in lodgings that are strictly a money makers. This was a wonderful stay. Grazie, Giovanna!
What could be improved: Nothing. I had no complaints whatsoever.Kerry from Australia – 7 January 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was in a fantastic location, very central without being too busy and overwhelming. The apartment had all the necessities required for a comfortable stay, the kitchen is well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. The host was very responsive and kind. Getting my suitcase up to the second floor was absolute killer as there is no life but you expect that in Italy so not a criticism, just a note for people.
Toni from United States – 18 May 2023 (9/10)
Location, space, connivence to everywhere grocery store right across the street. Renovations were top notch. Hot water, stocked kitchen, security, washer.
What could be improved: TV was only in Italian. No space to put toiletries in bathroom.
