B&B a le Boteghe Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of San Marco to find B&B a le Boteghe, you’ll honestly wonder if you’ve taken a wrong turn — until you realize you’re literally in the heart of Venice. This three-star bed and breakfast sits tucked away on a quiet street, but don’t let the unassuming entrance fool you. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special, something that feels more like staying with a Venetian friend than checking into a tourist hotel.
The Perfect Venice Location
I mean, the location score of 9.9 isn’t just numbers on a screen — it’s the real deal. You’re about a three-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square, which sounds almost too good to be true until you’re actually doing it. What I love about this spot is that while you’re incredibly close to all the major sights, the street itself stays relatively peaceful. You know how Venice can get overwhelming with crowds? Well, you can duck back here and catch your breath whenever you need to.
Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.8, and honestly, I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own little corner in the most beautiful city in the world.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of Venetian character without feeling like a museum piece. You’ll find traditional touches — think exposed beams and that distinctly Italian attention to detail — but everything feels fresh and well-maintained. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in historic buildings), and the bathrooms work properly, which might sound basic but trust me, it matters.
What really struck me was how quiet everything was at night, despite being so central. The windows are well-insulated, so you get a proper night’s sleep before tackling another day of wandering around the city.
Morning Rituals
Breakfast here is properly Italian — none of that international buffet nonsense that you find in bigger hotels. You’re talking fresh pastries, good coffee, and that relaxed morning pace that Italians have perfected. The staff actually takes time to chat about what you should see that day, and their recommendations tend to be spot-on. It’s served in a cozy space that feels more like someone’s dining room than a hotel breakfast area, which adds to that intimate, local feel that makes this place work so well.
Why Guests Love It
Look, B&B a le Boteghe isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s not loaded with fancy amenities or over-the-top service, but what it does, it does really well. The 9.3 rating reflects exactly what you get — a clean, comfortable, perfectly located place to stay that feels authentically Venetian.
The staff genuinely cares about your experience, the location can’t be beat, and you’re getting excellent value for money in a city where that’s increasingly rare. If you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Venice rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Venice before acqua alta alerts to snag suites with private fondaco docks.

We had an excellent stay. The owner Clara was very friendly, hospitable and helpfull. Together with all the staff they made us feel vip guests! The breakfast is delicious and the room was great. Le Boteghe is situated near a wonderful square with lots of nice restaurants and it is 10-15 min walk to san marco square and rialto bridge. Also a big thank you to Giordano who came to pick us up from the waterbus stop on arrival for a perfect check-in and great tips.
