Ca’ Badoer Frari Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of San Polo to reach Ca’ Badoer Frari, you honestly feel like you’re discovering one of Venice’s best-kept secrets. This three-star boutique hotel sits tucked away on Calle de la Passion — and yes, that street name is as romantic as it sounds. The building itself has that authentic Venetian charm you’re hoping for, without the tourist crowds that swarm around the more obvious choices near San Marco.
Location Magic
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally steps away from the Frari Church, one of Venice‘s most impressive Gothic buildings, but you won’t be fighting selfie sticks to get there. The San Polo district has this perfect balance where you feel like a local but can still reach the Rialto Bridge in about eight minutes on foot. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.9, and after staying here, I totally get why. You can grab morning coffee at the little café around the corner, then wander to the fish market or catch a water taxi without any of the chaos you’d face staying closer to the main tourist drags.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had those classic Venetian touches — exposed beams, terrazzo floors, and windows that actually open to let in the canal breeze. It’s not huge (this is Venice, after all), but everything feels thoughtfully designed. The bathroom was modern enough to feel comfortable, and honestly, the bed was way more comfortable than I expected from a three-star property. You know what really impressed me? The attention to soundproofing — even though you’re in the heart of the city, nights are surprisingly peaceful.
Neighborhood Gems
What makes this location special isn’t just the hotel itself — it’s everything within walking distance. There’s this incredible little osteria called Antiche Carampane about three minutes away (locals actually eat there, which says everything). The Scuola Grande di San Rocco is practically next door, and if you’re into art, Tintoretto’s masterpieces there will blow your mind. Plus, you’re close enough to Campo San Polo that you can people-watch with an aperitivo in the evening, but far enough from the crowds that you feel like you’ve found the “real” Venice.
Why Guests Love It
Ca’ Badoer Frari works because it strikes that perfect balance between authentic Venice and modern comfort. The staff actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the best cicchetti bars and tell you which water bus routes to avoid during rush hour. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored Venetian home rather than just another hotel. The 9.1 rating makes complete sense when you experience how this place captures the romance of Venice without the tourist trap feeling that can honestly ruin the magic of this incredible city.
Venice’s hotels pair butlered gondolas, Murano chandeliers, and concierge-led lagoon hops.

Maria from Greece – 29 July 2024 (10/10)
It is located in the center of the map of Venice, so all the city , from north to south and from west to east , is in walking distance . It is a small and convenient apartment in a traditional building. It far enough from crowd but also close enough to interesting bars etc

The location was excellent and easy to find as I was sent a photo to locate the correct doorbell and message to say who would meet me. I was given recommendations which made our trip more enjoyable. The area felt safe and close to a couple of conveineince stores, bakery and a number of cafes and restaurants. If you arrive and the day is very hot then I recommend you validate your vaporetto ticket and taking a the vaporetto from the Piazzale Roma to S. Toma as it will give you a brilliant view of Venice and prevent you overheating dragging a suitcase. Explore later without your luggage 🙂

The apartment was exactly as we imagined it when we made the reservation. Warm and welcoming, he took us to our grandparents' house. We really liked the wooden doors, the original hardware, the floor, we were fascinated to stay in an apartment arranged with great taste. Marta was very nice to us when we checked in and gave us a tour of the apartment. We really liked the area where we stayed, it is ideal for those with children, they have a short walk to the important tourist attractions, the Conad supermarket is a 3-minute walk away and the St Toma vaporetto station is 5 minutes away. I also visited the ghetto area, a quiet area full of history. We are very happy that we chose to stay with you and we promise that we will come back anytime with love. Thank you for these relaxing days.

The apartment is very cozy. It was very well situated, close to main attractions, vaporetto stop and the train station, and at the same time not in touristic area with too many people. The air condition worked perfectly. Also very well equipped with everything one could need. A lot of nice bars and restaurants closely. The bed was very good and the bedsheets spotlessly clean.
