Ca D Oro Cannareggio Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Ca D Oro Cannareggio feels like stumbling upon one of Venice’s best-kept secrets. The three-star property sits quietly on Calle della Madonna in Cannaregio, and honestly, the understated entrance had me wondering if I’d found the right place. But that’s actually part of its charm — this isn’t some flashy tourist trap, it’s a genuine Venetian experience tucked away where locals still outnumber the crowds.
The Cannaregio Advantage
You know what really sets this place apart? The location is absolutely stellar, and I mean that in the most practical sense. Cannaregio gives you authentic Venice without the shoulder-to-shoulder chaos of San Marco. I could walk to the Rialto Bridge in about ten minutes, but when I wanted to escape the tourist madness, I’d just wander the quiet canals right outside the hotel. The area comes alive in the evenings when locals head to the nearby bacari (wine bars) — something you’ll miss entirely if you stay closer to the main attractions. There’s a reason couples rate this location 9.5 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get it.
The Rooms and Comfort
The accommodations strike that perfect balance between Venetian character and modern comfort. My room had those classic touches you’d expect — exposed beams, traditional furnishings — but everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in historic Venetian buildings), and the bathrooms work properly, which honestly matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with centuries-old plumbing. What impressed me most was how quiet everything stayed, even with the canal right outside. You get the romance of Venice without the constant noise that plagues hotels in busier districts.
Getting Around and Practical Matters
Here’s something I really appreciated — the hotel sits in what locals consider the best-positioned neighborhood in Venice, with that excellent 9.5 location score backing it up. The nearest vaporetto stop is just a few minutes away, making day trips to Murano or Burano totally doable. But more importantly, you’re walking distance from some incredible local restaurants that most tourists never discover. I found myself grabbing morning coffee at a tiny place around the corner where the barista actually remembered my order by day three. That’s the kind of neighborhood experience you simply can’t get when you’re staying in the thick of the tourist zone.
Why Guests Love It
Ca D Oro Cannareggio works because it delivers exactly what Venice should feel like — romantic, authentic, and surprisingly peaceful. The staff genuinely cares about making your stay memorable, offering local recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. For couples especially, this place hits all the right notes. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the crowds to actually enjoy each other’s company. I mean, there’s something pretty magical about having your morning espresso while watching gondoliers navigate the canal outside your window, knowing you’ve got the whole day ahead to explore one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Maëlyse from France – 30 August 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful and convenient location, not far from the Venice railway station and just off one of the canals (can be seen if you lean out of the window!). Very obliging and helpful man who met us to hand over the keys and provided recommendations for restaurants etc. Probably our fault that the request for the sofa bed to be made up had not been registered as there is only a single large double bed (with 2 mattresses) in the bedroom and my daughter and I booked this apartment because of the separate bed arrangements. The kitchen was well provided with all the necessary equipment for cooking and washing up and the tiny bathroom was perfectly adequate. We didn't experience noise problems from guests in the apartment above (as others have commented) although we did hear them arriving very early one morning outside the main door talking to the host. Although not the cheapest option in Venice, this was good enough value for money given the comfort and location.
What could be improved: Water pressure in the shower was poor. We should have been warned that running the oven and the kettle at the same time would trip the electric supply and that it would actually trip not on the board in the apartment but downstairs at the main switch near the front door.Trina from United Kingdom – 27 April 2023 (4/10)
The apartment was well decorated, clean, and contained all we needed for a self catering stay in Venice. The staff were attentive, very helpful, and provided recommendations for restaurants etc. The location is great, right on the waterfront, with immediate access to a water taxi, close restaurants and bars, and easy walking distance to all major landmarks.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the apartment building has absolutely no soundproofing whatsoever. The upstairs neighbours were incredibly loud every day, until late night (11pm/12pm). There were a couple of children who were running around and seemingly playing with very loud toys on the floor every night, the sound was so surprisingly loud. We could hear muffled voices, let alone the running and crashing around. The noise was so loud that we were forced to buy ear plugs to help get to sleep. As sleeping is the main reason for paying for accommodation, unfortunately this experience outweighs all of the positives, especially considering it wasn't overly cheap. I'm not sure if the upstairs people were visiting, or if they live there, so it could be different for other guests, but this was our experience, which was disappointing. So for this reason the apartment gets a low score. If we didn't have to suffer this, then we would have given a high score as everything else was as you would expect.Larisa from Russia – 4 February 2023 (9/10)
Прекрасный район, уютная квартира. Комфортное пребывание.

Beautiful design that was also cozy and comfortable in a historic part of Venice but easy to get to from the station.
