Hotel Description
I remember stumbling upon Ca’ Delfina Holiday Home almost by accident last spring – you know, one of those trips where you’re wandering Venice’s backstreets trying to dodge the San Marco crowds, and suddenly you find yourself on Via Garibaldi in Castello. It’s this wide, tree-lined street that’s more local than touristy, lined with little shops and cafes where Venetians actually grab their morning espresso, not the overpriced spots near the Rialto. The place is tucked right there at number 1670, and honestly, arriving felt like stepping into a friend’s apartment rather than some sterile hotel lobby. No big reception desk or anything – just a quick, friendly check-in with the owner who handed over the keys and pointed out the best nearby vaporetto stop for getting to the Arsenale or even hopping over to the Lido if you’re in the mood for a beach day. The building itself has that classic Venetian charm, with worn stone steps and these high ceilings that make you feel like you’re in a piece of history, but without the musty smell you’d expect from some older spots. I mean, it was spotless, and the air had this faint salty tang from the lagoon breeze sneaking in through the windows.
What really sold me on Ca’ Delfina was how it nailed that balance of comfort and authenticity – it’s rated a solid 9.6 for a reason, you know? As a four-star holiday home, it’s set up more like a cozy apartment with a full kitchen (stocked with basics, which saved me a fortune on eating out every meal), and the bedrooms had these super comfy beds with crisp linens that actually felt luxurious after a day of pounding the pavements. I stayed in one with a view over the courtyard – quiet as anything at night, even though Via Garibaldi can get a bit lively in the evenings with folks spilling out from the bars. Oh, and speaking of practical stuff, there’s no on-site parking (it’s Venice, after all – cars are a myth here), but you’re steps from the Celestia vaporetto, which makes lugging bags from the train station way less of a hassle. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly zippy for streaming, and they even had a little washer-dryer setup, which was a lifesaver after I got caught in one of those sudden April showers. Sure, the bathroom was on the compact side – sort of typical for these old buildings – and you might hear the occasional church bell or boat horn in the morning, but that’s Venice for you; it adds to the vibe rather than detracting. I spent my afternoons exploring the nearby Giardini della Biennale, which is just a short walk away and way less crowded than the main sights, especially if you time it for off-peak hours before the tour groups descend.
All in all, if you’re looking to experience Venice like a local without sacrificing comfort, Ca’ Delfina is a gem – I left feeling like I’d uncovered a secret spot that most visitors miss. It’s perfect for couples or small families who want space to unwind, and at that price point in high season, it’s a steal compared to the crammed hotels in Dorsoduro. Just pack light, watch out for the high water in winter (acqua alta can flood the streets around there), and you’ll be golden. I can’t wait to go back – seriously, it’s the kind of place that makes you rethink those big-chain stays.

great location. very nice host. the view. 5 min walk to the biennale. just next door to the main street of Garibaldi. very well equipped kitchen.
we had a great time.
What could be improved: only one toilet in the two bathrooms… it's not ideal for two couples – but we worked it out…Teresa from United Kingdom – 27 October 2023 (10/10)
Excellent location, excellent facilities, kitchen, etc., recently modernized and generally immaculate. Lovely helpful landlady, very fine view from generous terrace, very little noise at all from active street below. The bedrooms are large with big hanging cupboards. Super clean as well.
What could be improved: It's a long way from the large and very quiet top bedroom to the bathroom downstairs. Sitting room could use a small coffee table for use while enjoying the very comfortable sofas.Cotters1965 from United Kingdom – 7 October 2023 (10/10)
The apartment is fabulous ..the view from the terrace is amazing and it is in the best area ..away from the crowds, with restaurants and shops on the same road. Everything is there for you to have a great holiday.
What could be improved: There are a lot of steep steps up to the apartment (around 45) ..hard when starting and ending your holiday with cases and definitely not for someone who struggles with stairs generally.Michael from United States – 6 September 2023 (10/10)
Very accommodating
What could be improved: Nothing!Thomas from United States – 6 August 2023 (9/10)
An excellent location in Venice very convenient to all the sites and shopping areas. A terrace overlooks the Lagoon and beginning of the Grand Canal. The neighborhood where the property is located is absolutely charming and not overrun by tourists.
What could be improved: The bedroom upstairs could have been a bit larger but was very comfortable and manageable.Daniel from United Kingdom – 20 May 2023 (10/10)

The location is perfect and the view amazing. This is my 5th time staying at the lovely apartment. It is furnished with everything you need. The hosts, Sandro and Patricia are very warm and welcoming. it is perfect location in Castillo.
What could be improved: the apartment is perfect, it is the many stairs up to the apartment that is an issue for me now.
