Hotel Description

You know, I stumbled upon Ca’ della Corte almost by accident during one of those endless Venice wanders – I was coming from the train station, lugging my bag over the Scalzi Bridge, and honestly, after dodging the crowds in Santa Croce, slipping into Dorsoduro felt like a breath of fresh air. It’s tucked away on Corte Surian, this quiet little courtyard off the main drag, right in the heart of that artsy neighborhood where you get more locals sipping spritzes than tour groups snapping selfies. I mean, it’s just a stone’s throw from Campo Santa Margherita – that lively square with the fish market in the mornings and those outdoor cafes that buzz until late, but without the chaos spilling right into your window. Checking in was a breeze; the owner, this warm Venetian lady named Maria (or was it Anna? Anyway, she was a gem), handed over the keys with a quick chat about the best nearby cicchetti spots, like that hole-in-the-wall place on Rio Terà Canal where the polpette are to die for. No fancy lobby or anything – it’s more like stepping into someone’s historic home, with those worn stone steps and the faint salty tang of the canal air sneaking in.

What really won me over, though, was how the place balances that old-world Venice charm without feeling stuffy or outdated. My room was on the second floor – fair warning, there’s no elevator, so if you’re hauling heavy luggage, pack light or ask for help – but once up there, it opened onto this cozy space with exposed beams, terracotta floors that creak just a bit underfoot, and a view of the courtyard garden below, where birds chirp in the mornings and you can smell fresh espresso wafting up from breakfast. Breakfast, by the way, is a simple affair but spot-on: croissants, yogurt, and those little jams that taste homemade, served in a sunny room that overlooks the rooftops. It’s not flashy, but it’s got that authentic feel – like you’re living in Venice rather than just visiting. And location-wise, it’s genius for exploring; you’re a quick walk to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (I spent a whole afternoon there, lost in the modern art), or you can hop on a vaporetto from Ca’ Rezzonico stop to zip over to San Marco if you must. Evenings are peaceful here – no blaring boat traffic like near the Grand Canal, just the occasional church bell from Santa Maria della Salute echoing softly. Oh, and if you’re driving in (though who does that in Venice?), Piazzale Roma’s parking is only about a 10-minute stroll away, which saved me a headache.

All in all, if you’re after a spot that feels genuinely Venetian without the tourist trap vibes, Ca’ della Corte is a solid choice – it’s got that 4-star polish with a 9.3 rating for a reason, but it’s the little things, like the fluffy towels or the way the sunlight filters through lace curtains, that make it memorable. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be spotty in the back rooms during peak season (hello, July crowds), but that’s Venice for you – sort of forces you to unplug and enjoy the city. I’d go back in a heartbeat, especially in shoulder season when Dorsoduro’s quieter lanes feel like your own private discovery. If you’re planning a trip, book early; places like this fill up fast with repeat visitors who know the secret.

Everything was wonderful! The hosts are very friendly and helpful and the accommodation is beautiful. The location is great – it's a quick walk to the train/bus station and also an easy walk from the rest of Venice. Additionally, breakfast can be ordered for a very reasonable price and is brought up to the room.
We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

One of my favourite places we've ever stayed. We stayed in the piano room which was just gloriously sumptuous. Extremely comfortable, fantastic breakfast, great location. When we come back to Venice this is definitely where we will stay

Perfectly located in a quiet area <10mins walking from train or coach stations, within easy walking distances of all of Venice's key attractions, and with restaurants close by. The property and decor is traditional Venetian, well furnished and with comfortable beds. The host offers a very warm welcome and provides helpful information on how to navigate Venice's streets, local events and restaurants. Very pleased.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

Comfortable and homely. Located in a quiet area close to cafes and restaurants. 5 mins walk from Piazza Roma which is the main bus/train square. Main tourist areas and between 15/25 mins walk.
Staff extremely helpful, friendly especially Nick who was full of advice and provided various restaurant recommendations.
