CA’ DI LUNA VENEZIA Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to find CA’ DI LUNA VENEZIA honestly feels like you’re on a treasure hunt — and when you finally spot the entrance on Campiello Widmann, you know you’ve found something special. This three-star boutique hotel sits in one of those quiet corners of Venice that most tourists never discover, which is exactly what makes it so appealing. The building itself has that weathered Venetian charm you can’t fake, and stepping inside, there’s an immediate sense that you’re staying somewhere with real character rather than just another generic hotel.

The Cannaregio Advantage

You know what I love about this location? You’re actually living like a Venetian here. Cannaregio is where locals still go about their daily business — there’s a proper grocery store nearby, neighborhood bars where you can grab a morning coffee without paying tourist prices, and you can walk to the train station in about ten minutes when it’s time to leave. The Jewish Quarter is practically on your doorstep, and honestly, some of the best bacari (those little wine bars Venice is famous for) are scattered around this area. Couples seem to get this — the hotel’s rating reflects how much people appreciate having a romantic base that’s not in the middle of the San Marco chaos.

Your Room and Comfort

The rooms here aren’t huge — I mean, this is Venice, so you’re not expecting a sprawling suite — but they’re thoughtfully designed with that typical Venetian attention to detail. Each room feels different, with original features like exposed beams or traditional terrazzo floors that remind you you’re sleeping in a piece of history. The beds are comfortable (which matters more than you’d think after a day of walking on stone streets), and the bathrooms are modern enough to feel fresh while keeping some of that old-world character. What really struck me was how quiet everything is at night — you get the authentic Venice experience without the noise that comes with staying near the major tourist drags.

Getting Around and Exploring

From here, you can walk to the Rialto Bridge in about fifteen minutes, but more importantly, you’re positioned perfectly to explore the quieter side of Venice that most visitors miss entirely. The nearby Fondamenta della Misericordia comes alive in the evenings with locals enjoying aperitivo, and it’s become one of those “in-the-know” spots that feels genuinely Venetian. There’s also easy access to the vaporetto stops when you want to head to other islands or just enjoy a ride down the Grand Canal — but honestly, some of my favorite moments were just wandering the residential streets around the hotel, discovering tiny bridges and hidden courtyards.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to CA’ DI LUNA VENEZIA is that perfect balance between authentic Venice and modern comfort. You’re not paying five-star prices, but you’re getting something arguably more valuable — a genuine neighborhood experience in one of the world’s most unique cities. The staff clearly knows the area well and can point you toward experiences you won’t find in guidebooks. For couples especially, there’s something magical about having your own quiet corner of Venice to return to each evening, away from the crowds but still connected to everything that makes this city special.

Reviews of CA’ DI LUNA VENEZIA

  • Marina from Ireland – 22 March 2025 (9/10)

Nice apartment in a great location, just a 3-minute walk to the Fondamente Nuove water bus stop (25 minutes to Piazzale Roma by water bus). It is clean, with comfortable beds, and has a well-equipped kitchen. We loved the shower cabin! Thank you.

What could be improved: The WiFi is a bit weak, and the soundproofing is poor, so you might need earplugs.

  • Jazmín from Mexico – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

Incredible, comfortable, clean, and the room maintains the city's ornate design. The staff is incredibly attentive.
    Highly recommended.

  • Argyro from Greece – 9 March 2025 (9/10)

Very clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Located at a quiet neighbourhood. Walking distance to the city center.

  • Xhesika from Albania – 27 January 2025 (8/10)

I liked ghe location, size of the room and the bathroom. It was clean and it had an old vibe (very nice). It also had space and was perfect for two people.

What could be improved: It didn’t have slippers which for me is a problem because I don’t want to walk around bare foot. I also didn’t like the bed (or beds) since there were two single beds joined to make a double and sometimes the gap was too big to ignore. Also very squeaky.

  • Thirumal from Spain – 23 December 2024 (9/10)

Flat is really artistic and located very close to all the tourist attractions. Host is responsive and answered all our queries on timely fashion. Stay was really excellent

  • Betsy from Italy – 12 November 2024 (8/10)

The place was nice, clean, tidy and furnished with everything you need.

What could be improved: Everything was nice. Really. The only thing I can think of is that sagging mattress, not too much but a bit.

  • Ketevan from Georgia – 29 October 2024 (9/10)

The accommodation place is very well located, in a quiet little square

Ideal to walk to anywhere in Venice .

What could be improved: The apartment was beautifully decorated.
The bathroom, the walls, the golden decoration in the ceiling of the room, the painting, and everything together make the place look fantastic!!!!

AND you can take a shower enjoying some good music at the same time ( relaxing)

  • Mary from Ireland – 25 September 2024 (9/10)

    Location, value for money, facilities

What could be improved: nothing, everything was great
