Calle del Forno Apartment Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to find Calle del Forno Apartment feels like you’re following a treasure map — and honestly, that’s half the charm. This three-star apartment sits right on one of those quintessential Venetian streets where locals still hang their laundry between buildings and you can smell fresh bread from the nearby bakeries. The building itself has that weathered elegance you expect in Venice, with worn stone steps and windows that have probably seen centuries of stories unfold.

The Space

Inside, the room strikes that perfect balance between authentic Venetian character and modern comfort. You know what I love about this place? It doesn’t try too hard to be fancy — the furnishings are simple but thoughtful, and there’s enough space to actually spread out your things without feeling cramped. The kitchen area is surprisingly well-equipped for a place like this, which means you can grab fresh ingredients from the Rialto market and cook dinner if you want to save some euros. The bathroom is compact (this is Venice, after all), but everything works properly and the water pressure is actually decent.

Location Magic

Here’s where this apartment really shines — the location is absolutely phenomenal. Cannaregio is one of those neighborhoods where you get the real Venice experience without the crushing crowds of San Marco. You’re close enough to walk to all the major sights, but far enough away that you can actually breathe and move at a normal pace. I mean, couples rate the location 9.3 out of 10, and after staying here, I completely understand why. There’s something romantic about wandering back through the quiet campos at night, past dimly lit osterie and the occasional cat lounging on a bridge.

Neighborhood Gems

What really makes this spot special is how it puts you right in the middle of authentic Venetian life. The Jewish Quarter is just a short walk away, and trust me, it’s one of the most fascinating and peaceful parts of the city that most tourists completely miss. You’ve got excellent bacari (those little wine bars) within a few minutes’ walk, and the fondamenta along the canals here are perfect for evening strolls. Actually, some of my favorite meals in Venice happened at tiny places I discovered just by wandering around this neighborhood — there’s this little osteria about three minutes away that serves the best baccalà mantecato I’ve ever had.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t a place with a concierge or room service, but that’s exactly why it works so well. You get to live like a Venetian for a few days, shopping at local markets, greeting the same shopkeepers each morning, and finding your own rhythm in this incredible city. The apartment gives you independence and authenticity that you simply can’t get in a traditional hotel. Plus, when you’re paying Venice prices for everything else, having a place where you can prepare some of your own meals is honestly a lifesaver for your budget.

Best hotels in Venice blend frescoed salons, marble hammams, and rooftop altanas for prosecco sunsets.

Reviews of Calle del Forno Apartment

  • Tatiana from Slovakia – 20 October 2023 (8/10)

It was quality-price ratio for Venice. All staff you need you have there. Good location. Especially thanks to Aurora who met and supported us.

What could be improved: It was a business trip and we need the invoice. But I think they never make it before so it took three weeks after the trip to have it.

  • Alina from Romania – 16 October 2023 (9/10)

    The cleanliness, location and amenities

What could be improved: How it was tricky to get there at first because of another street that was named the same thing which was on the opposite side of where the property was located.

  • Inna from Israel – 15 August 2023 (8/10)

The host was very nice and helpful! The apartment is beautiful and is in a quiet neighborhood, but close to the tourist attractions!

Spacious and clean, great location, and a warm welcome at check-in. Comfortable bed and quiet bedroom. Also, the smell of freshly baked goods from downstairs was amazing!

What could be improved: A little bit spartan with furnishings and the shower isn't the best! Staircase a bit precarious (please mend the carpet rods before someone slips!)
