Ca’ Nane Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to find Ca’ Nane, you’ll pass locals heading to work and small neighborhood cafes that tourists rarely discover. The three-star property sits quietly on Calle Varisco — honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because it blends so naturally into the residential fabric of this authentic Venetian neighborhood. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like a local secret than a tourist destination, and that’s exactly what you get here.
Location & Neighborhood
Cannaregio is where Venice actually lives and breathes beyond the postcard scenes. You’re still close enough to San Marco that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’ll hear church bells instead of tour groups in the morning. The location score of 9.1 makes perfect sense when you realize you’re getting the best of both worlds — easy access to major sights but tucked into a district where you’ll find family-run bacari and watch gondoliers practicing their turns on quieter canals. Couples especially seem to love this balance, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about discovering Venice from a more intimate base.
The Experience
What strikes me about Ca’ Nane is how it manages to feel both typically Venetian and genuinely comfortable. The building has that weathered elegance you expect in Venice — you know, the kind where every stone seems to have a story — but inside, everything works the way it should. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Venice, after all), but they’re thoughtfully arranged and you’ll actually want to spend time there between your wanderings. I mean, after a day of navigating crowds and bridges, having a peaceful retreat makes all the difference.
Getting Around
From Ca’ Nane, you can walk to the Rialto Market in the morning when the vendors are setting up their fish displays, or head toward the Jewish Quarter to explore one of Europe’s oldest ghettos. The nearest vaporetto stop connects you easily to other islands if you want to escape to Murano or Burano for the day. What I really appreciate is that you’re positioned to experience Venice like someone who actually lives here — taking shortcuts through residential squares and discovering bridges that don’t appear in guidebooks.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.5 rating reflects what happens when a hotel gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to impress. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services you don’t need — instead, you’re investing in location, comfort, and that increasingly rare commodity in Venice: authenticity. The fact that couples rate the location so highly tells you something important about the neighborhood’s romantic appeal, but honestly, I think solo travelers and friends would find just as much to love about being based in this corner of the city.

Very clean. Exactly as the pictures suggested. Smelled nice and clean. Linen clean. Plenty of space for a family of 4. Good location. Nice bathroom. Lovely little courtyard.
What could be improved: The only downside is that you can hear the neighbours above – it can be very noisy. The first 2 nights were very noisy and disturbed us a lot but the second couple of nights were much quieter with more considerate neighbours above.Reissig from United States – 28 October 2024 (9/10)
Super cozy and conveniently located apartment in a neighborhood away from the main tourist areas.
What could be improved: The bed was VERY firm for us.Haley from United States – 23 June 2024 (9/10)
Really nice, clean, and spacious apartment located in the more quiet neighborhood of Cannaregio. It was about a 20-25 minute walk from the train station. It’s also located in the narrowest street alley in Venice, which was a bucket list item. We enjoyed the private patio in front, the spacious bathroom and shower, and the extra two bunk beds (twin sized x2) located in a separate room (with its own door, light switch and clothing rack) right next to the main bedroom (queen sized). They do have a washing machine, refrigerator, and sinks. The host gave fantastic recommendations for local food (Osteria Alberto) was a must and very close to the B&B.

The location is very impresive. Located in the narrost stredt in Venkce. It is really close to all sights you can not miss when visiting Venice. The apartment is clean and also very quiet which is really appreciated.

Lovely apartment situated in the narrowest street in Venice. Very clean and with all facilities and nice courtyard. In a close distance to the city centre , 5 min from the water taxi.

The location is great. Away from the crowds and easily accessible from a vaporetto stop. The space is beautifully done. The little courtyard patio is a beautiful added bonus. Great bakery around the corner. Very clean. The extra guide books were helpful and appreciated.
What could be improved: It would be helpful if there were instructions on how the adapter is needed to use the coffee pot on the stove top. Also, coffee filters for the drip coffee pot would be helpful. We were unable to find them in the market. The 2nd bedroom is very small, almost like it was originally a large closet. But, it worked for our child.Kendy from United States – 3 July 2023 (9/10)
Located on the smallest street in Venice, a little outside the main tourist center, but walkable to everything. The private terrace was a nice bonus.
What could be improved: The apartment was a little dark and cave like, but it was nice and cool and quiet.Kevin from Cyprus – 26 December 2022 (9/10)
I loved it and it’s location but won’t be everyone’s idea of fun. well out of the way but for me it was perfect.
What could be improved: it was winter and heating was difficult to work and no instructions, luckily I understand systems but still not easy.Judy from United Kingdom – 6 September 2022 (8/10)
