Ca’ Riccio Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of Cannaregio to reach Ca’ Riccio, you’ll notice how the neighborhood feels authentically Venetian — less touristy than San Marco, but still incredibly well-connected. This three-star boutique hotel sits on Rio Terà Dei Biri, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring Venice on foot. The building itself has that classic Venetian charm you’re hoping for, with traditional architecture that blends seamlessly into the historic streetscape.

The Neighborhood Advantage

What I love about Cannaregio is that you get the real Venice experience here. You’re close enough to walk to the Rialto Bridge in about 10 minutes, but far enough from the crowds that you can actually breathe. The local bacari (wine bars) around here serve some of the best cicchetti in the city, and there’s a fantastic morning market just a few streets over where locals actually shop. You know what’s really convenient? The train station is walkable from here, so you won’t need to deal with water taxis if you’re arriving by rail.

Inside Ca’ Riccio

The hotel feels intimate — I mean, this isn’t a massive chain property, which works in its favor. Each room has been thoughtfully designed with Venetian touches, though they’ve managed to keep things modern where it counts (like the bathrooms and Wi-Fi). The staff here actually knows the neighborhood well, and they’re genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. What surprised me was how quiet it stays at night, despite being in such a central location.

Getting Around

From Ca’ Riccio, you’re perfectly positioned to explore Venice without constantly relying on vaporettos. The Jewish Quarter is practically next door — fascinating area with incredible history and some hidden gems for dining. St. Mark’s Square is about a 15-minute walk through some of Venice’s most photogenic streets, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection is easily reachable on foot. Actually, one of my favorite discoveries was just wandering the residential parts of Cannaregio early in the morning when the light hits the canals just right.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense once you stay here. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the romantic setting — there’s something about having a genuine Venetian address without the chaos of the main tourist zones. The recent guests consistently mention the location as a highlight, and I can see why. You get that authentic neighborhood feel while still being close to everything you came to Venice to see. It’s the kind of place where you can slip out for an early morning coffee at a local café, spend your day sightseeing, and return to a peaceful base that feels more like a Venetian home than a typical hotel.

Reviews of Ca’ Riccio

  • Lani from Australia – 19 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location near Fondamente Nove which is the waterbus stop nearest Murano. Comfy, roomy, well equipped, quiet, clean, great hot water.

Some fantastic local restaurants nearby too.

What could be improved: The hairdryer. It’s a strange wall unit and not very powerful.

  • Heather from New Zealand – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Beautiful room with great staff. Breakfast was very good.

What could be improved: No luggage lift.

  • Davina from Australia – 29 September 2024 (9/10)

Great Location, plenty of good places to eat and not to far from the main attractions. Staff were really nice and welcoming. Breakfast was great!

What could be improved: Was a little warm as we couldn’t figure out how to work the thermostat and if you had the windows open you got mauled by mosquitoes.

  • Viola from Netherlands – 7 September 2024 (7/10)

The host was super friendly and gave us a quick intro to how the place works, and we even got a complimentary late check-out. Location was great, airco was glorious. Away from the busy tourist areas it was nice and quiet at night as well.

What could be improved: The kitchen wasn't fully equipped in terms of things like a chefs knife or cutting board. It was just regular cutlery, a pot, a pan, and plates. This didn't make the kitchen fully functional for us, but there was a normal stove, oven, and microwave so those are options too.

  • Melanie from Australia – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

Great room with a fairly spacious bathroom. Lovely buffet breakfast and friendly staff. Good location to walk everywhere.

What could be improved: Initially a bit tricky to find because the sign on the door is tiny!

  • Heidi from United States – 29 June 2024 (8/10)

The location was very convenient to the main shopping area of Rialto as well as St. Mark's square. Right around us there were many options for food, coffee, drinks, and gelato. The central AC in the room was a blessing as well.

What could be improved: The staff was a bit hard to communicate with. They were only present in the inn while we were checking in, and did not respond to all of my messages on the Booking.com app when we needed assistance during their absence.

  • Jordan from Australia – 27 June 2024 (8/10)

The staff were lovely, location great, breakfast was a fantastic touch

  • Zhi from Singapore – 21 June 2024 (8/10)

Location is fantastic. Staff manning the place, especially Cristiano, was equally fantastic.

What could be improved: Wifi was a bit spotty.

  • Itziar22 from Spain – 19 June 2024 (9/10)

I specially loved the breakfast, as they tried to take care of every single detail.

What could be improved: The location, it was hard to find it. Also the beds, they weren't comfortable enough and neither the pillows (they were so thin), although they facilitated me another pillow the next day I asked for it.

  • Ruth from United Kingdom – 24 July 2023 (9/10)

Excellent location, clean , very comfortable and excellent base to explore Venice from.
Very good restaurants near by and 1 minute walk from vaporetto stop.
    Quiet location

    What could be improved: Nothing
