CA’ VIRGINIA Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow Venetian streets to find CA’ VIRGINIA, you’ll probably pass it once before realizing you’ve arrived — it’s tucked into Spadaria in such an authentic way that it feels more like discovering a local secret than checking into a hotel. The entrance is understated, which honestly makes sense given that this three-star property sits right in San Marco, where every building has centuries of history. Once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of being in a real Venetian home rather than a typical tourist accommodation.

Location & Neighborhood

I mean, the location here is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re literally in the heart of Venice — I’m talking about a two-minute walk to St. Mark’s Square, but somehow you’re on a quieter street that doesn’t feel completely overrun with tour groups. The Spadaria area has this perfect balance where you can grab morning coffee at a local bar (the kind where Venetians actually go) and still be at the Basilica before the crowds really hit. Couples seem to get this particularly well — they’ve rated the location 9.9, and honestly, I can see why when you’re wandering back from dinner and suddenly realize you’re home in the most romantic city in the world.

The Rooms

The rooms at CA’ VIRGINIA have that authentic Venetian character you’re hoping for without feeling cramped or outdated. You know what I appreciated? The windows actually open properly, and depending on which room you get, you might catch glimpses of the canal activity or the charming street life below. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed — they’ve clearly thought about how to make the most of the space without sacrificing comfort. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which matters more than you’d think after spending all day walking on stone streets and bridges.

Daily Experience

What strikes me about staying here is how quickly you fall into a rhythm that feels authentically Venetian. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward the bacaro that locals actually frequent or suggest the best time to visit the Doge’s Palace without the worst crowds. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone but instead focuses on being a really solid base for exploring. The common areas are cozy without being cramped, and there’s free Wi-Fi throughout, which honestly saved me more than once when trying to navigate Venice’s maze-like streets.

Why Guests Love It

The thing about CA’ VIRGINIA is that it delivers exactly what you want from a Venice experience without any pretense. You’re staying in the real heart of the city, but you’re not paying upscale prices for location alone. The combination of that incredible 9.9 location score and the genuine warmth of the place creates something special — you feel like you’re living in Venice rather than just visiting it. When you can step out your door and be at the Rialto Bridge in minutes, or find yourself in a quiet campo with a perfect little restaurant that tourists rarely discover, you start to understand why this place has such devoted guests.

Reviews of CA’ VIRGINIA

  • Ricardo from Brazil – 9 February 2025 (9/10)

It was an awesome experience, right in the center of Venice, and from a walking distance to major places. The apartment has a really nice size, the main bedroom is very big, the bed is comfy, lots of pillows, the heater also works really well. I'll definitely recommend it. The host was very nice and communicative, always ready to answer os questions and help us.

What could be improved: There is room for improvements, the bathroom has a really bad smell, I think it comes from the drains, so it needs to be closed all the time, or the smell will spread. Also, the sound insulation wasn't very good. Being in a central place like this means there will be people around all the time, and you can hear people talking from inside easily. Despite this our stay was very good and I'll be back.

  • Philip from United Kingdom – 17 November 2024 (9/10)

    Central location. Very helpful host

What could be improved: All good

  • Gary from Australia – 16 November 2024 (9/10)

Great communication from the owner before arrival, no issues getting in. She was easy to contact on WhatsApp and very helpful.
The apartment is well appointed, well stocked, spacious and comfortable. It’s in a great location with lots of restaurants nearby.

  • Fergus from Canada – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

    Terrific location just as advertised.
Every room was spacious for its purpose.
Washer and dryer very handy but could use some English instructions. Ha. Ha. But all good.

What could be improved: No complaints.

  • Craig from Australia – 7 October 2024 (8/10)

The location is right in the heart of Venice and SAN Marco, amazing spot, only 1 min walk to the square, restaurants and shops all at your door step.

What could be improved: There were a few mosquitoes and the kids got a quite few bites while sleeping during the night, some insect spray would have been good.

  • Frechette from Canada – 16 September 2024 (9/10)

Spacious apartment with full kitchen and sitting area.
    Large refrigerator with freezer.
    Host was attentive.

What could be improved: Multi-use shower options were non-functional. However, basic shower worked fine.
Bedroom and bathroom are at opposites ends of the apartment.

  • Shasta from United States – 7 September 2024 (9/10)

The property was perfectly located, much bigger than reflected in pictures, clean, and had everything we needed. The host was so kind and communicated extremely fast. I will 100% be back!

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect!

  • Jiahuan from China – 24 May 2024 (9/10)

  • Sophie from France – 4 May 2024 (9/10)

The flat is in the heart of Venise, big and spacious which is exceptional for this price in this part of the city. The bed is very confortable, kitchen well equipped and our host Martina very sympathic, she gave us the best tips and was very patient, kind with all our needs. There is a good restaurant under the flat, a supermarket around the corner and the astonishing St mark piazza 2 steps away, what a joy it was for us to drink our take away early coffee in pyjamas seating at the Doges palace (the piazza is empty before 8h30 and after 23h) and late night walk around… Easy to go to the attractions in few minutes… The flat is a bit noisy during the day but really quiet at night. If you wish to have a stay as a local Venezian, it’s the place to be !! We recommand 100% 🙂

  • Sandra from North Macedonia – 12 March 2024 (9/10)

Еverything was wonderful. The location couldn't be better, right next to San Marco square. Martina had wonderful communication with us, she informed us about everything. The apartment is large with two separate rooms and a kitchen, well equipped. Definitely worth the money we will come here again for sure.

What could be improved: Nothing, everything was perfect.
