Campiello Chiesa, Venezia by Short Holidays Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the narrow streets of San Polo to reach Campiello Chiesa, Venezia by Short Holidays, you’ll feel like you’re discovering one of Venice‘s best-kept secrets. This three-star property sits tucked away in Camp Sant’Agostin, and honestly — the location alone makes it worth considering. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.9 out of 10, you know there’s something special about this spot.

The San Polo Advantage

What struck me most about staying here is how perfectly positioned you are to experience authentic Venice. San Polo is actually one of the city’s six districts, and this particular corner feels refreshingly local compared to the tourist-heavy areas around San Marco. You’re close enough to walk to the major sights (the Rialto Bridge is practically around the corner), but far enough away that you can escape the crowds when you need to breathe. The property earned a 9.4 location score, which makes complete sense once you start exploring the neighborhood — there are genuine bacari (wine bars) nearby where locals actually drink, not just tourists taking photos.

Your Home Base

The room itself reflects that three-star sweet spot where you get comfort without unnecessary frills. What I appreciated was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading maps, decent storage space for your inevitable Venice shopping hauls, and windows that actually open (trust me, this matters in a city built on water). The decor keeps things simple and clean, which honestly works better than trying too hard to be fancy in a building that’s probably older than most countries.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here have this lovely rhythm to them. You’ll hear the city waking up gradually — water taxis puttering by, shopkeepers opening their doors, the gentle hum of Venice coming to life. The staff at Short Holidays clearly knows their neighborhood well, and they’re genuinely helpful with recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. They pointed me toward a tiny restaurant about three minutes away that serves the kind of cicchetti (small plates) that make you understand why Venetians are so passionate about their food culture.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s what really works about this place — it gives you that authentic Venice experience without breaking the bank or overwhelming you with unnecessary amenities. The 8.9 overall rating reflects what I experienced: solid comfort, fantastic location, and that intangible feeling of staying somewhere that locals would actually approve of. You’re not just visiting Venice from here; you’re temporarily living in it. The narrow campiello (small square) outside has this peaceful quality that’s surprisingly rare in such a popular city, and you’ll find yourself looking forward to coming “home” after long days of sightseeing. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own quiet corner of Venice to retreat to.

Early hotels booking in Venice secures balcony seats for Vogalonga regattas and torchlit basilica tours.

Wonderful cozy apartment in the center of Venice. Quite large and spacious apartment with separate bedrooms and kitchen. the interior also deserves special attention and admiration. the interior perfectly complements the spirit and mood of Venice and its culture. the location is also convenient, in the city center, which is convenient for sightseeing walks around the city. contact with the managers is very fast, help and communications 24/7. Very nice and polite staff. Everything was wonderful, thank you very much for a wonderful time. We will be in Venice and will definitely come back to you again.

What could be improved: Everything was perfect

  • Nicholas from United States – 1 June 2024 (9/10)

Quiet, at the back of an apartment complex centered around a courtyard, yet in the midst of a neighborhood thick with places to eat. For Italian accommodation standards it is spacious and well-appointed. 5 min walk to San Tomas vaporetto station, and walkable to Piazza Roma bus station and Santa Lucia train station, but feels far from the tourist chaos elsewhere in Venice. The manager, Anna, was responsive and wonderful to interact with. We had a sweet and memorable stay!

What could be improved: The shower is quite small by American standards, but this was a minor issue.

  • Tara from Ireland – 18 April 2024 (9/10)

  • Alexis from Philippines – 31 May 2022 (9/10)

Feels like home except its in venice! We did a lot of take outs because the place is so homey in a venecian way that we wanted to dine in the apartment. My favorite parts were the dining area and the sala with very helpful books about venice and italy in general. The owner was gracious enough to leave us a map of venice and some instructions in a clearbook… almost complete ammenities!!

What could be improved: It was hard to open the door but youll get used to it. The appartment is worth it
